The Morning Rant: J.V. Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

There is some old lady in a pants suit sitting in a puddle of her own urine, drinking from a bottle of bourbon and muttering something about a "vast right-wing conspiracy." I think I'll throw some poo at her!

Kurt Schlichter nails it with this column. But one in particular makes me smile....
Seven Things Conservatives Should Be Thankful For

No. 1: Be Thankful That Hillary Is Not Our President.

The other ones are important too, but this one makes me smile on this beautiful, crisp, clear morning. I am sitting with a cup of good coffee, ahead of my cooking schedule, thinking about the tough fight we all have ahead of us. It's not going to be easy; saving America from those who would destroy it, but we took a big step last November, and it no longer looks quite so dire.

Enjoy the day, eat and drink too much, poke fun at your liberal relatives, and rejoice that we live in a truly exceptional country.

19 I think Hillary not being President was an answer to many people praying. I don't usually pray for a certain outcome to elections. I did about that one-"Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy-please forgive us and save us from Hillary Clinton becoming President." I didn't want Obama but that's how truly awful I think Hilary is.

28 Earlier on Thursday, Netanyahu denounced what he called offensive remarks by Hotovely, in which she said US Jews are people that never send their children to fight for their country and that most of them are having quite convenient lives.

A statement issued Thursday morning from his office said that Netanyahu condemns Tzipi Hotovelys offensive remarks regarding the American Jewish community. The Jews of the Diaspora are dear to us and are an inseparable part of our people.

???

I think Hotovely's Statement was 100% accurate and spot on.

70 Y'all discussed it in the previous thread, I'm sure, but that's a quite unusual Rockwell painting there. Those look like real arrows, and the pilgrim is, as far as I can tell, female. And she's got a classic "cheesecake" look on her face.

I recall seeing some article somewhere about the guy who liked to paint pics of gals with their drawers falling down. I don't know his name, and the paintings always contained some guy who happened to be looking at just the right moment. She'd be carrying a bag of groceries or something, and the bag would be falling... and down went her drawers! Like they do.

76 Just wondering do the true-Cons and Nevertrumpers not realize how loathsome Hillary is?

Yes. Yes they do. They're fully grown adults with all the powers of observation and reasoning the rest of us have.

They actively chose Her Heinous and all the bad things she'd do to further destroy the country. Bronco Bama hisself said she'd be the continuation of his Reign of Error and she wholeheartedly agreed.

I don't cut them any slack. They know exactly what they're doing. They are anti-American Progressives, aka American Communists. As such, they have no business in politics nor should they be anywhere near the levers of power in any capacity. They are our enemies.

We need to do everything we can to destroy the Progressive Movement (although it's doing a pretty good job of imploding all by itself these days) before it destroys us. There is no middle ground and no compromise with those who hate us.

85 Happy Thanksgiving to my online, virtual, and highly suspect family!

I am thankful for so many things, too numerous to completely list. Still thankful for the fifteen years we had with our beloved Jack The Dog, who passed one year ago today, on his fifteenth birthday, bless him. Thankful my college daughter is here with us, healthy now and happier, after a rough year where the college medical system decided to 'treat' her depression with an array of drugs, instead of realizing it was the environment, stupid. And grateful that daughter, who is experimenting with utopian campus Marxism, still has the class not to engage in open argu-warfare with her dad, who fought real Marxism every freaking day of his life. Instead, she has the smarts to find common ground (music, culture, humor) with her fuddy-duddy parents, and to enjoy the holiday. And i am grateful for son, who has entered the workforce, and may miss dinner - responsibilities have burdens, after all. a good boy becoming a good man. and most of all, i am grateful for wifey, who has put up with me for all this time.

Bless you all.

86 I'm amazed the Sundance channel is having a "Gone With the Wind" marathon today. That movie hasn't been banned yet?

I forgot how entertaining the exchanges between Rhett and Scarlett are. Rhett's alpha maleness is yet another trigger for SJWs. If Scarlett was born 100 years later, she'd be a prettier Hillary Clinton.

Don't want to add anything to this just a reminder, with snow season coming to cover up your oil tank filler with some sort of plastic cup or something so that no melting snow gets into your tank.

I think you had a problem before with that. I got enough in my line to be a nuisance and I had to take about a gallon out of my line to get about a cupful of water out.

Stuff you forget when you have two feet of snow on the ground. It's going to slowly melt.

Thank you for posting that Slap. Prayers for all the horde. Many of them are struggling under very tough circumstances.

To put our troubles in perspective, consider that NK soldier who was shot 5 times crossing the DMZ. If he has any family, they are dead or being tortured. He was in the army, one of NK's "elite" and - was still malnourished, with tapeworms. So imagine the shape the non-elite are in. People wonder why the North Koreans don't revolt. Hard to revolt when you are starving.

And many of them, born and raised in hell, think the whole world is like that.

We were fortunate enough to be born in the greatest country on earth. That's something.

The oil people know this happens, but given the opportunity to make a pile of money they'll jump at the chance to scare monger. It's not tough to get the water out of the line, about an hours labor.

---------

I read Barbara Demick's book Nothing To Envy a few months ago. It's a great depiction of the conditions that ordinary non-elite Norks live under. They are literally slaves, forced to work in order to have a small amount of poor quality food handed to them each week. Every block has its spies and any thoughtless comment can result in days of interrogation, if not a stint in a labor camp. It's hell on Earth.

I have always been grateful for the incredible standard of living that we enjoy as Americans, but that book really renewed my appreciation for the amazing system that yields such bounty.

It also increased my contempt for the assholes on the Left who are either power-mad or oblivious, and would impose a similar regime on us if they could.

138 I have a lot to be thankful for this year. My dad, who had a cardiac arrest due to low potassium caused by his BP meds is home from the hospital, the rehab and feeling pretty good, except for low stamina and residual pain from CPR. He's 90 years old and my brothers and I are lucky he's still around. He's over being pissed off about being revived. I told him that if God had meant him to die, he wouldn't have been playing Bridge with an RN and a CPR instructor. He agrees. My brothers will be here for dinner in a few hours and everything is perking along in the kitchen.

I also have a new great-nephew, just about a month old. He's the first of his kind, although I have hopes for more down the line.

May God bless you all as he has blessed my family this year.

The other problem is many of the putative leaders on "our" side aren't. They support many of the globalist shibboleths -- frequently only objecting over utilitarian concerns such as the price tag of the "Prog" utopia. The election of Trump has certainly caused a lot of masks to fall.

A big regret of mine is that I voted for Shrub #2, Mittens and Juan McVain during the past presidential elections. Fvkc those guys in particular; the GOPe never gets my vote again. Better an honest foe to the front than an unreliable "ally" behind.

I take much solace in their complete failure to stop Trump from being elected. That was their best chance to keep the status quo, and they couldn't do it. Bodes well, they can be defeated and many in the world are turning against the globalists.

164 Schlichter's always amusing, and that column is good, but even he stumbles on the Moore thing. If plausible yet non-credible allegations of behavior from decades before, lacking any evidence, and absent any pattern of similar behavior or even allegations in a life-time of contentious campaigns, is sufficient to knock someone from a race .... then every candidate Kurt would ever support can and will be dispatched from public life effortlessly.

Of course he's also wrong about guns preventing authoritarians from compelling behavior by "normals". He lives in the LA area, I think. Every part of his life - and especially that concerning guns - features compulsion by his adversaries.

All of Kurt's guns won't allow him to buy ammo at market prices starting in six weeks, or without a special state ID. The list of handguns he can readily buy is shrinking all the time. He can't conceal carry (most likely). And he's paying the new gas tax right now, and subsidizing idiocies like solar power and high-speed rail every day.

Lord have mercy-please forgive us and save us from Hillary Clinton becoming President." I didn't want Obama but that's how truly awful I think Hilary is.

I don't pray for specific persons to win as i don't pray for my favorite football/baseball team to win, just that they so their best. The night before the election I prayed to God that the best person to lead our nation would be elected. I believe He gave us President Trump to be that person. I am thankful!

about Roy Moore was basically a hit job" camp.

Posted by: FenelonSpoke at November 23, 2017 11:45 AM (8+Ozj)

Agree with you on Roy Moore. What do we have now, after several weeks of non-stop "revelation"? That he is accused of having sex with precisely zero of the "complainants", and of "inappropriately touching" just one, who is the least credible of the lot.
Seems to me that these "dates" were not so much overtures to sex as they were interviews with prospects for the position of wife, and the "complainants" were found wanting in some way, or else rejected Moore as potential husband material (and may now regret having done so). After all, he did eventually marry a woman who was as much younger than him at the time of the wedding as these girls were at the time of the "dates".
Roy Moore is a very smart man. I really doubt he was boinking teenagers at all; the risks are simply too high, and he would sure to know that. If he was sowing any wild oats, it was probably with older women. "An old woman don't tell, an old woman don't swell, and she's grateful as Hell." (song lyric)

188 A couple of months ago, I found out I had a half sister I never knew about who had been looking for me for 10 years. Our father left when I was a kid and moved back to his country (Italy), and I hadn't heard from him in 30 years until my sister found me on Facebook.

After a few weeks of talking it became obvious that she was more interested in acting like my father's lawyer than in being my sister. She kept trying to justify and excuse all his abusive actions in the past, and when I tried to explain to her what he did to me and my mom, she suggested I didn't know anything because I was too young, despite the fact that all this happened before she was even fucking born, and I didn't get it by hearsay like she did from her father, I LIVED through his abuse. And she's saying it never happened. Apparently my father returned, and spread lies about me and my mom to his relatives, then continued to lie for 30 years, and they all lapped it up.

In that time I helped her get a U.S. passport, sent an expensive gift for her birthday, and even went so far as to get the details needed so her father could get another pension. In all that, she did nothing for me except to start treating me with contempt because I wouldn't reconcile with her father, something I would have been open to doing if he could have just stopped being such a lying shit and own up to the truth.

I asked her to drop it and focus on our relationship. Then her father had a second stroke, and she suggested in her email that his stroke was due to the pain of my rejection.

I tried to make it work, but it was clear she was never going to listen to me, so I said my goodbyes and told her to go fuck herself (in the nicest way possible).

This Thanksgiving I am thankful that I only have family members that love me for who I am and are avid Trump fans. The rest can go scratch.

226 Yes, garlic is a vegetable. A green one, in fact - the leaves are quite nice, in fact. People raise garlic sometimes just for the greens, though usually it's from thinning their garlic beds. Stronger than scallions, but milder than garlic clove.

Last saw an underground heating oil tank at my parents' home in Vancouver circa 1980. They had switched to natural gas soon after the mains were installed, but the tank, and its contents, AFAIK was never removed. Such a thing these days would be an environmental liability on a par with lead-contaminated soil, were you to believe the "conventional" whizz-dumb.
But these days, if your only choice for heat is heating oil, then an above-ground double-walled tank is the best option.

Had a underground tank at my parents old house. Hadn't been used in years and unless you knew where to look you'd never known it was there, but I was trying to sell the house and I made the absolutely stupid mistake of mentioning it. The downside was several months worth of paperwork and setting up the work to get it dug out, and ponying up the 12,000 to do it.

The upside was that at least after I was finished I could apply (and did) to have the majority of that reimbursed from the state government. I think I ended up only spending $500 bucks, plus my time.

And that's great about your location. If somehow I do manage to get up there this season, I'll certainly look to you for conditions info. No, the key to perfect pie crust is in the dairy section of your grocery store. All rolled up neatly, wrapped and boxed. You throw it into your shopping cart, perhaps even pay for it.

When you want to use it you snip off the end of the wrapper, leave it on your counter for ten minutes, then unroll it. Easy as pie.

Is it more expensive than home-made? Well, depends if you paid for it, of course. But compared to the cost of flour and lard? Yeah. Somewhat. But it's so damn easy and perfect.

If the law were rational on the matter, there would the option of having the tank sucked dry (really, really dry, as verified by videocam), and then filled with water/bentonite slurry. Would cost way less than digging it out.

I'm not sure what my 'best' options are. Have oil now. No natural gas line anywhere around. Plenty of solar available. The heat-pump water heating units look interesting.

But the devil is always in the details. Look for the details on solar and the heat-pump units. Almost impossible to find.

I expect most of them have leaked, and contaminated the soil a little. BFD. There are bacteria in the soil that will eat up the oil, which is basically harmless, anyway. If there isn't a dead zone around the tank, with no vegetation, and you remove the source of the leak, namely residual oil in the tank, then there never will be a dead zone, and the soil will remediate itself, over decades.
