US Issued Visas to At Least Five Accused Terrorists; Others Under Investigation for Terror Ties

I was told this could not happen and never did happen, ever.

The U.S. government granted visas to and resettled in America at least five foreign individuals who were later tied to terrorism, according to the White House, which announced that "hundreds of other foreign nationals" admitted to the country are currently under investigation for terror ties.

Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov, an Uzbek national alleged of committing recent deadly terror attacks in New York City, is just one of several terror-tied foreign nationals who were permitted to resettle in the U.S. as part of the Visa Lottery, which randomly awards green cards to foreigners.

...

"Just a few days prior to Saipov's attack in New York City, another Uzbek national and Visa Lottery winner, Abdurasul Hasanovich Juraboev, was sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to conspiring to provide material support to Islamic State terrorists,' according to the White House.

In 2009, Syed Hais Ahmed, also a Visa Lottery winner, was convicted of terrorism related activities in the U.S. and elsewhere, according to the White House information, which was provided to reporters as part of a push by the Trump administration to end the lottery program.

Read the whole thing. Maybe Chuck Schumer will pump a few fake tears when we end this nonsensical program.

More here. The headline says "six" terror-linked people have come through this system, though the body then says "five."

74 Moderate Muslims don't want to behead you or sell your children or force you to wear a hijab. They just don't care much when the radicals do.

See, here's the secret: Christians would love a nation that was all Christian and run by Christian doctrines. We would love a nation where people were shamed for sleeping around, where homosexuality was hidden away and fought against by the people struggling with it, where abortion was banned, where women dressed modestly etc.

Moderate Christians don't believe that there should be laws to force people to be modest or hide homosexuality. But most (not myself) would not be very upset if that took place.

The big difference is, a really radical Christian may penalize you for wearing a skirt that's too short. A radical Muslim will rape and kill you for it. A radical Christian may require you to sing Christmas Carols and ban Santa. A Radical Muslim will cut your head off for not praising Allah.

Both religions have strong adherents that go too far, but the Christians are not nearly as godawful or bloodthirsty.

86 For example:

https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2015/aug/27/naked-city-cap-agde-sun-swingers-shoplifting

Welcome to the naked city: sun, swingers and very little shoplifting

Modernism and naturism meld at the world’s biggest nude town, Cap d’Agde in France, which swells to 40,000 people in summer. Could there ever be a naked metropolis? Phil Hoad exposes himself to nude urbanism

"The entry procedure is a bit unforgiving, but beyond is something unique: a fully functioning town with largely naked citizenry, which grows to 40,000 in the summer. Only a day later, I’m happily part of a nude queue in the deli lining up for tabouli and octopus salad, while a hardbodied gay couple pore over a side of beef. Since the 1990s, Cap d’Agde has gained a lurid reputation as a meat market par excellence. Europe’s libertines and swingers flock here to participate in what Michel Houellebecq envisioned in his book Atomised as the perfect “sexual social democracy”. But every facet of ordinary city life is here, too: a bank, a post office, several supermarkets, concrete arcades lined with hairdressers, fishmongers, opticians and clothes boutiques. Throughout, fully dressed staff (a formality that apparently developed of its own accord) cater, with surreal nonchalance, to the great unclothed."

Huh. I guess the staff now wear clothes in some businesses. used to be compulsory nude in the whole place -- all 40,000 people.

Though, as I sailed past them in a catamaran I dropped trou and mooned them. We earned the nickname of the 'mooners' - which other people thought meant we were on a honeymoon.

Yep, the 9th over-turned a district court and upheld *part* of a travel ban. Or is it a travel pause/review, like the original one was? Ya know, the 90- and 120-day pause to review the situation since common sense and the intel agencies reported they could not actual vet people from selected high-terrorism-connected countries and failed states. Which is still being adjudicated ...... going on 10 months.

I say "Intact" because I still do not see any part of any of the EOs in this area, even on a facial reading, exceeding the clear plenary authority delegated to the executive by Congress for controlling admission to the country. Thus, the courts have no hook, no excuse for doing their post facto legslative mark-up.

Christianity is generally against hurting your fellow man. Because people are flawed and stupid, some people calling themselves Christians will find a justification for hurting another person. Not because of anything in the New Testament, but because sometime people just stink. What part of "love your neighbor as you love yourself" and "when you are struck, turn the other cheek", and "pray for your enemies" is about getting revenge?

Muslims can find justification in the Koran for hurting or killing another person, if they defy or disrespect the Koran or Allah.
So all the really rotten people that are Muslims can find the justification for being cruel and nasty. Not all Muslims are that way, but their own written beliefs can supply justification.

I just know what I've heard from fellow CHristians when they talk about how things are and what should be done/they wish could be done. Too many really strong and committed, otherwise conservative Christians are really big government types... they just want to control that big government. Remember, it was Christians who led the temperance movement and got alcohol banned.

There are some pretty narrow minded and silly people who mean well but can be kind of tyrannical if put in the wrong position for their temperament. I'm not willing to declare them to not be "real Christians."

I agree that Christianity as a faith is very free and tolerant; we have to be that way because we recognize our own sins and know we are only saved by the doing and dying of our savior, no our self righteousness. But not everyone thinks things through that carefully.

The Certified Birth Certificate I hold in my hand, that I have carried for 47 years, has been declared invalid by the 2005 law because the paper form does not meet the requirements set down by federal regulations.

I can't get a new one that does conform to those requirements because the county courthouse burned to the ground destroying the county clerk's office and all the county documents. This official document that I hold was issued before the records were destroyed and is probably the only copy on the planet. I am now an unperson, unable to enter federal offices or fly on airplanes because I can't prove my place of birth.

Absolutely, and, I suspect, even fear, that if Christians got total power again, it would end up eventually the same way. Everything would start out fine but over time frustration with people failing to be pious, failing to avoid sin, failing to honor God would build and laws would pass a little at a time and... eventually you would get the same place.

Christianity suffers with power and control. It becomes inevitably more wordly and less God-honoring. People stop trusting God and start deciding they have to use the wordly power they have to Make Things Right. Under persecution and difficulty, Christianity blossoms and grows, because it helps us have the proper perspective.

Another benefit: less terrorism. Let's say a group of refugees was destined for Germany. That knowledge might tempt terrorists to join that group as fake refugees in order to attempt terrorist plots in Germany or the EU.

On the other hand, let's say the refugee group were destined for a fellow Muslim nation. The terrorists would simply think, why bother? It's a Muslim nation, not a kuffar one, so we might as well not bother going.
