Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Concern Trolls: NeverTrump "Republicans" Have Been Meeting Secretly to Plot Their #Resistance, Calling Their Clique... "The Meeting of the Concerned"
According to the Washington Post, a group of prominent libertarians and conservatives have been getting together every few weeks as part of what they call the "Meeting of the Concerned." And the group -- which includes such prominent Never Trumpers as Weekly Standard co-founder Bill Kristol, and Mediaite columnist John Ziegler -- is now taking its first formal steps to oppose Trump.Among their agenda items: Rallying for total unquestioning loyalty to Robert Mueller. (Overstated, but seriously, that's what they're on about.) I'd like to think of them as the #CruiseControllers, though of course they've lost control and are unhappy about that. I want these Concerned Republicans on record saying they would prefer Hillary as President. They shouldn't be able to avoid that elephant in the room and just claim to oppose Trump. By forcing them to acknowledge they would prefer Hillary they would be forced to defend supporting what she's done illegally and what she would have done.
They're trying so very hard not to say that out loud. But that's like trying to hold in a burrito fart, it can only work for so long. We should just call them the Clinton Cvnts. Posted by: BackwardsBoy at November 01, 2017 05:28 PM (tRaq7) 228

Order - I hereby call this 'Meeting of the Concerned' to order.
We'll start off with announcements. (1) Sign-up is still available for the Weekly Standard vacation cruise line. Lots, and lots of spots are open - and due to the responses thus far, the decision was made to merge our cruise with the Furry & My Little Pony convention and the Septuagenarian Nudist colony trip. But Bill is pumped and hopes to convert the other parties to our cause - and possibly forge new friendships and alliances. (2) A certain ex-presidential candidate in Utah would like to remind everyone that his name is not Egg McMuffin. The unnamed member would appreciate you call him by his real name. We are civil, coastal elites - do not lower yourselves to the blue-collar ruffian ilk. (3) We have struck a big deal for cool 'MOC' gear and merch! The women's march had several hundred units of items that went unsold and will allow us to imprint our MOC logo and insignia of Trump's face with a big red line crossing it out. >Members, please note: most of the merch is unused / gently used pink Pussy hats, but our friends at the National Review (excluding Rich Lowry - what a vulgar knuckle-dragger) have volunteered to use their whitewashing skills to dye them white for our own use. Please let Kevin Williamson know how many White Pussy hats and XXXL ladies MOC tees and sashes you would like to purchase. Now onto the agenda. >None. OK, now we will open up the floor for new business. >IMPEACH! NO ONE MOCKS THE MOC! Posted by: Carlos Danger at November 01, 2017 05:30 PM (ce4vQ) 238

My only wish is that the rot that infects the Federal Government will be revealed to the majority of Americans. Revealed in a way that they CAN'T not notice it. According to the Washington Post, a group of prominent libertarians and conservatives have been getting together every few weeks as part of what they call the "Meeting of the Concerned." And the group -- which includes such prominent Never Trumpers as Weekly Standard co-founder Bill Kristol, and Mediaite columnist John Ziegler -- is now taking its first formal steps to oppose Trump.
Among their agenda items: Rallying for total unquestioning loyalty to Robert Mueller. (Overstated, but seriously, that's what they're on about.) Lisa is a hoot. If this is what "they're on about." They can piss off. Posted by: artisanal 'ette at November 01, 2017 05:32 PM (fceHP) 260

Very frustrating. After reading both the Mediaite and WaPo articles, they give NO specifics as to why they are so gung ho for this investigation: what they have against Trump, why they think this investigation is useful, why they think that Mueller *shouldn't* recuse himself even though he is involved in the events of it.
All I see is statements like the following, completely devoid of any substance: "Donald Trump is reshaping the heart of the GOP into something that is very dark and very diseased," said Inglis. Yet I remain intrigued by the "not a fan of Trump" and "even with his derelictions" comments here. Intrigued because it's as though it's 1956 or something in the USA. In the context of the here/now, Trump has been a spectacular boon and deliverance - and not just, or even mostly, because he's not Hillary.
He's far better than that. My chief fear is that he will be unable to remake the GOP sufficiently to actually enact intelligent policies that are very popular as well - which happens to describe all his core agenda items. As many noted from even before inauguration, Trump's main obstacle in helping the country and the world is the GOP, not the Dems (talking about elected office-holders). The federal government, in its attempt at a coup, has discredited itself, perhaps permanently. Our "premiere police agency" has been exposed as little more than an updated Gestapo/Stasis. Our intelligence agencies, which have failed us at every crucial moment, have proven better at engineering domestic political upheaval than protecting our lives and property. And so on. I really don't get the Never Trumpers.
In Trump, you have a president, who, while imperfect, will likely accomplish a substantial fraction of things you claim to support, and prevent a substantial fraction of the things you claim to be opposed to. he may be boorish, you may not like his methods, but c'mon - he won the war against ISIS, the economy is surging, and he has taken on obamacare, illegal immigration, and tax reform. What is it you don't like? His fucking tweets? The phony Russian collusion bit? What exactly would you have him do different? I think Trump is the kind of person that the founders envisioned running the country. Not maybe behaviorwise or personalitywise but businesswise.
He took time out from running a very successful business which has had its ups and downs to run for president and he hadn't spent his whole life in politics. One of the reasons we have the worst political class our country has ever had is that we mainly elect people who live for politics. They have no other goal than to tell everyone else what to and make money doing it. They wouldn't know how to make money running an actual business which it why they make such crappy laws. He knows how a business should be run and, hot dog, if that isn't how a country runs best too. He is WAY, LOADS, better than I ever thought he could possibly be. The only thing in his way is congress. And possibly the supreme court. But that is also as the founders intended. We don't want one person to have too much power. Even Trump.
