Cowbell: First Read of 3rd Quarter GDP at 3.0%, Beating 2.5% Expectation

Unexpectedly, in other words, but on the upside.

And bear in mind: The economy was hit by multiple storms. I don't mean metaphorical storms like the #SalonHot25's daily Twitter Conniptions. I mean the three big hurricanes.

The U.S. economy unexpectedly maintained a brisk pace of growth in the third quarter.
An increase in inventory investment and a smaller trade deficit offset a hurricane-related slowdown in consumer spending and a decline in construction.
Gross domestic product increased at a 3.0 percent annual rate in the July-September period after expanding at a 3.1 percent pace in the second quarter

The really BIG story is that after SEVENTEEN CONSECUTIVE YEARS of decline in the Labor Participation Rate -- it has flatlined. Neither rising or falling.

A little nudge of a tax cut should move it upwards once again. It's a damn shame that our Senators have to check the polling numbers to see if that benefits *them* before voting.

I try not to hate, but it's tough sometimes.

57 My extremely limited observation, admittedly, but the strip mall a few blocks from my house now only has one empty front (it's right next to a bar so kinda makes sense), but they're building a new structure on a spot of empty land and it looks like room for at least one more business.

Again, it's just a limited observation. There were businesses in the building, but a few more filled up after Trump and now they're expanding.

That was "green shoots" with a roaring 1.15% "growth".

Frankly, I still say that you have to take government deficit spending out, first, before you make any calculations of "growth". I mean, you really can't borrow and spend $5 and then claim $2 in "growth". This ain't rocket surgery.

That said, Trump has certainly gotten things pared down to such an extent that the economy is doing orders of magnitude better than it ever could have under the commie retard, Barky, but we are going to need 6% REAL growth to have any chance to outrun the looming monetary disaster that was built up over the last decade like nobody's business. REAL growth - growth after feral deficit spending is removed. We're headed that way but we have a long, long way to go and not very much time to get there.

The numbers were almost all sub 2% - and many were sub 1%, and that's even with the bullshit that the feds borrowed and spent over 5% annually (along with the Fed chucking in a pretty big amount, itself, resulting in a near $5 trillion balance sheet).

Oh yeah. Lemme see if I can remember without looking: Inflation numbers no longer counted food or gasoline or heating oil, or pretty much anything we normals spend money on to keep a household running.

If you couldn't find one of those "job" thingys after a certain length of time, you didn't count as being unemployed. U-6 went through the roof as a result and never ever got mentioned in any UE stats.

Those are just the highlights, but there was more.

Thank goodness the Obama Emfvckening is over.
