Megyn Kelly's Ratings Fall to Olbermann-In-His-Mom's-Basement Levels

The former Fox rising star is now doing brief appearances on... MSNBC.

I suppose this is to help get viewers from MSNBC. And maybe to get some extra work out of her to justify her $23 million/year salary.

But it's just sad.

A big get with Harvey Weinstein accuser Lauren Sivan wasn's big enough to pull Megyn Kelly out of her ratings slump.

Her "Megyn Kelly Today" viewership slipped from 0.77 ratings points on Monday to 0.54 ratings points on Tuesday of last week.

"It's a possible all-time low for 'Today.' It may even be lower than her [Fox] cable show. [NBC News president] Noah [Oppenheim] and [NBC News and MSNBC chairman] Andy [Lack] are in big trouble," a source told us.

Another source added, "That's a big drop. They have to turn this around."

Some people project warmth and humanity; some project intelligence. Some project both and some, like Hillary Clinton, project neither.

Megyn Kelly projected intelligence (and ambition, and drama) on Fox. But she never projected warmth or humanity. She would sometimes try to show her "lighter, playful style" by making a cutesie joke or having some friendly banter with Christ Stirewalt or whatever, and I'd always think: "Ew. Stop that. Go back to asking questions."

She might be the nicest sweetest person in the world and a woman who oozes empathy -- it's theoretically possible -- but she just doesn't project that. At all. It comes off phoney fakey, like the head cheerleader, who's never said a word to you before, suddenly asking you how your day's going at the time that, oh yeah, she's running for senior class president.

She seems very calculated, which isn't always a bad thing, but it makes her attempts to seem "relatable" and "fun" purely transactional -- some media coach has told her she's missing the Warmth Card in her TV Presentation Game, so she's trying the Make a Cute Face and Giggle maneuver and Tell Dana Perino You Love Her Shoes gambit.

Her persona as a spotlight seeking, confrontation craving prosecutorial ice queen worked for her. It seemed real. Maybe because it was real.

And it wasn't a bad persona at all -- I liked it.

Her attempt to refashion herself as Just a Workin' Mom Like You and America's Sweetheart doesn't seem to be her at all.

Speaking of MSNBC phonies, they hunted down the staffer who leaked that embarrassing tape of Lawrence O'Donnell and had him fired.

I guess that's pretty understandable.

Now I hope they'll understand when Trump starts firing his insubordinate leakers.

4 Lots of people can fake empathy and bravery. For a start, look at most of Hollywood. And sure, some actors can switch roles as easily as I switch shirts.

But you can't do that in real life, not without indicating some kind of personal growth. "Got stomped by Trump, rebuilding my shattered career" is not a good enough excuse. Not to daytime moms anyways.

5 I think the producers on Fox had more to do with coaching her to be warm and human. Since she has left them she has turned into a cold harridan.

Now Fox is doing just fine, Tucker Carlson is the new Jon Stewart, and the "talent" that jumped ship (or was pushed overboard) are adjusting to lonely unemployment.

p.s. I do think O'Reilly got a raw deal, but even I thought he had gotten to be too much to take anymore, and the only real fan base he had left was with the geriatric crowd. It was time for him to step down, whatever the reason.

Pretty obviously she came up with it on the fly too, the cameraman was not ready for it.

Its pretty obvious she is like a lot of newsies and wanted her own show instead of just doing her job at the desk, so she was trying to make herself stand out. But she's not "own show" talent.

Apparently Acosta is trying the same thing but nobody wants a douchebag jerk mocked by the entire world. Even CNN already has one with Chris Cuomo.

When you attack the "orange toupee weasel" from the LEFT, you're the piece of shit. And now she's toast. Bitch.

You know what's weird, that thing she did at the first debate caused me more than anything else to start liking Trump some. It was so f-ing disgusting using the left-WoW filth to attack and so disgusting, I actually started defending him, when, up to that point I was cringing because I didn't think he could beat Hillary.

She caused me to have some sympathy for Trump.

Oh, about Harvey's ficus fertilizing. I was reading something. They were talking to the guy who was in charge of the kitchen or the restaurant in that club where Uncle Harvey got Lauren Sivan.

He remembered it, saying his chef was in a snit and threatened to quit because some "fat fuck who said he was the owner" (and Harvey was in cahoots) ran him out of the kitchen. He gave him a $100 bill. Harvey did that a lot, paying off the "little people", from I've been reading.

Anyway, the guy they were interviewing had one little detail different. He said Uncle Harvey just spooged in a pot, a kitchen pot that you cook food in, not a potted plant.

He said he he saw with disgust that the pot had "been defiled" as he said.

So maybe he didn't spooge in a ficus afterall. He spooged in the soup pot.

That's the plan. Dilute the issue, and make it go away while seeming to care.

Name names or none of this matters. Take them all down or they'll just keep doing it. Step up. I know its hard to admit what happened but your 90% there. Say who.

The women that are supposedly "coming forward" need to name names.

Someone like Reese Witherspoon has the power, prestige, and money to safely name her attacker.

Her not doing so is the same as covering it up as far as I'm concerned. Because it will inconvenience her.

i suspect those qualities broadcast better on camera than in real life where she might just seem more ordinary. sometimes it works like that.

The women that are supposedly "coming forward" need to name names.

Someone like Reese Witherspoon has the power, prestige, and money to safely name her attacker.

Her not doing so is the same as covering it up as far as I'm concerned. Because it will inconvenience her.

Posted by: Maritime at October 17, 2017 06:28 PM (lKmt3)

I'm hoping they are going through the legal channels, so not mentioning names yet. Wishful thinking on my part. Each woman could probably name multiple names. I wonder if it will reach a saturation point.

I first saw her in a terrible movie called St. Elmo's Fire. She was awful in it, but hey the movie itself sucked so you know.

Groundhog Day...great movie despite her being in it. Every time she comes on though I wince. Murray is good enough to carry it anyway.

She's made other films but I likely haven't seen them. Really she should've been the lead in a crash test dummy video. She'd have hit that out of the park.
