Before: Claiming it was a vast rightwing deranged conspiracy theory to say Trump had been wiretapped. After: Reporting he'd been wiretapped, but, somehow, forgetting completely to note their prior swearing on a stack of Bibles that this was unpossible, Because Obama Good By Definition.

The whole Russian meddling was a ruse to justify spying on Trump. The mainstream media went along with the gag because they wanted to protect Obama, and they wanted to overturn the election.
The billionaire financiers of these news organizations – particularly Sir Rupert Murdoch at Fox News, Carlos Slim at the Times, and Jeff Bezos at the Post – all backed Clinton as did Bob Iger, chief executive officer of Disney, which owned ABC and ESPN. While certainly much of the Fake News reflected liberal editors, who hired social justice warriors as reporters, corporate interests benefited from the protection from competition big government regulations provided. Bezos in particularly wanted to government’s aid in expanding his online retail empire, which is why he bought the Post.
The media became biased long before John Kennedy became president.
Hinderacker at Power Line’s reaction to Trump's tweets spoke for many, "This is astonishing to me, as I have never heard a word about this story. If the Obama administration abused the FISA process to wiretap a political opponent, it is a scandal of the first order -- the worst political scandal of my lifetime, easily. And the press has known about it and covered it up? Unbelievable."
Confident the president had no proof of subterfuge, the press mocked him.
"A Conspiracy Theory's Journey from Talk Radio to Trump’s Twitter," read a New York Times headline on March 5.
"Stephen King trolls Trumps wiretapping tweets as only a horror writer could," read a Washington Post headline on the same day.
"White House aides struggle to defend Trump wiretap claims," read a Post headline on March 6.

As Dan Greenfield suggested, the guilty must commit more transgressions to cover up their previous ones.

That someone is frontrunning a damaging story, getting in front of it so CNN can prominently include their excuses and rationalizations.

This reminds me of when the IRS planted a question about targeting conservative groups at the end of a long, boring press conference. Whoever is leaking this particular story specifically chose CNN instead of an outlet hostile to Obama so they could protect themselves from something worse. Whatever it is I hope it still comes out.

Over at Powerline, Hinderaker has become almost staunchly pro-Trump since the Inauguration, after writing in #nevertrump mode for most of the election season. He's had some highly laudatory posts about Trump and I give the man credit for an open mind.

Unfortunately, for both these arguments is this fact, Trump did own his residence and those other portions of TT where people who had be speciously tapped were visiting him with the expectation of privacy under the dayum Castle Doctrine. The media and the ones doing the tapping were not used to trying to tap someone who owned homes large enough to use simultaneously as residences and campaign headquarters.

Why everyone in America is not spitting mad about this is beyond me. I don't use Alexa or any of the other always on listening services for this very reason--my privacy in my home is sacrosanct, whether it be hovel or NYC penthouse high-rise.

The FISA courts screwed up on this and they should be held accountable--yes, we need to be able to show cause and tap certain folks that are a threat, but, get back to me when they are wire-tapping Keff Ellison, who consorts and cavorts with a wide variety of Muslim untouchables.

Yes, it's a completely inane argument. Let's compare and contrast and say for reasons of national security, in 2012, someone went to the FISA court and wanted to wiretap one of the many many many Muslim Brotherhood people infesting the WH, how would that have gone? It would have been stopped in a heartbeat because of Obama/Mooch/Spawn/Mrs. R cause no one actually wanted to know if any of them committed a crime.
