Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Trump at the UN: Key Quotes"The United States has great patience and strength, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will totally destroy North Korea," he said. "'Rocket man' is on a suicide mission for himself and for his regime," Trump added of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. "The United States is ready, willing and able, but hopefully this will not be necessary." "No one has shown more contempt for other nations and the well-being of their own people than the depraved regime of North Korea. It is an outrage that some nations would trade with such a regime." ... Trump also took aim at Iran, calling the global deal regarding its nuclear weapons program "an embarrassment to the United States." "The Iranian regime's support for terror is in stark contrast to the recent commitments of several of its neighbors to halt the funding of and fighting terrorism," he said. "Oppressive regimes can not endure forever. And the day will come when people will face a choice."On Venezuela: "[President Nicolas] Maduro has inflicted terrible pain and suffering on good people of his country," Trump said during a speech before the United Nations General Assembly. "The United States has taken important steps to hold the regime accountable. We are prepared to take further action if the government of Venezuela persists on its path to impose authoritarian rule on the Venezuelan people." He added, "The problem in Venezuela is not that socialism has been poorly implemented but that socialism has been faithfully implemented," which garnered little applause from the world body. "I ask every country represented here today to be prepared to do more to address this very real crisis," Trump said. "We call for the full restoration of democracy and political freedoms in Venezuela."He also added: "From the Soviet Union to Cuba, Venezuela -- wherever through socialism or communism has been adopted, it has delivered anguish, devastation, and failure. Those who preach the tenets of these discredited ideologies only contribute to the continued suffering of the people who live under these cruel systems. America stands with every person living under a brutal regime."Benjamin Netanyahu was effusive about the speech: "In over 30 years in my experience with the UN, I never heard a bolder or more courageous speech," Netanyahu tweeted. President Trump spoke the truth about the great dangers facing our world ... and issued a powerful call to confront them in order to ensure the future of humanity."Via Twitchy, which is rounding up all the Blue Checkmark Mafia reactions, Democrat flunkies and the media (but I repeat myself) are rather less impressed.

Good for Trump for saying it right to everyone's faces.
I will admit that it is a personality, well, I prefer awesome to flaw of mine that when people are being passive aggressive nasty to me and I reply by calling them out on what they are really saying, that being told I am being rude makes me furious. It's like how in the NFL it's the second guy who throws a punch who gets flagged. America isn't threatening to blow people up. America isn't shooting missiles over other countries. Sweden. Is. Not. Socialist. It's a high-tax welfare state, true, but it is not a socialist state. Socialism is the public ownership of the means of production. There are some publicly owned enterprises in Sweden but there are also private concerns. Sweden is not an example of socialism; Sweden is an example of welfare-statism. Just read the transcript of his speech to the UNGA. Granted this speech was given in front of a bunch of 3rd world despots who use their time as a UN representative of their country to not live in the shithole from which they came.
But I certainly give this speech an "A". One more step in showing the world (and America) that a more-of-an-adult-than-Obama is now in charge. We won't be seeing Trump bow down before any of these clowns. His quote on socialism is awesome. May it be repeated often and committed to memory. Another plus - reminding everyone there that we - the US taxpayers - foot 22%+ of the total funding for the UN. They need to be reminded of that often as well. Perhaps even drop it to 20% or 18% just to show them we mean business. Posted by: Our Country is Screwed at September 19, 2017 02:42 PM (jxbfJ) 111

Once upon a time, at my old job, for my sins I was made to take a group of Girl Scouts or I don't know something with girl kids in it that was rah rah girl power. They were all like 8-10 years old. Yes, the office manager thought it would be good for me to do this. Why, yes, yes, I do think I had done something extra me like to piss her off to deserve that. I took them around and explained what lawyers really do and what paralegals really do and how it wasn't like tv at all and was boring but we helped people blah blah whateverhands. Apparently, I did such a good job that the people called the office the next year and asked specifically that I do it because the girls loved it so much. And that is the story about how I ended up being in charge of herding a group of young humans around every year to explain how a legal office worked. Forget "trade". Anyone who gave humanitarian assistance to the Norks was only helping the Kims and the Norks' continued assault on civilization. Feeding the Norks so that the Nork government doesn't have to worry about that is nothing short of aiding and abetting the Nork government. Humanitarian aid to any country with an evil, insane government is not only counter-productive but downright destructive to the rest of the world. [Warms up vocal chords, steps up on crate, pulls in stomach as much as possible] Sweden. Is. Not. Socialist. It's a high-tax welfare state, true, but it is not a socialist state. Socialism is the public ownership of the means of production. There are some publicly owned enterprises in Sweden but there are also private concerns. Sweden is not an example of socialism; Sweden is an example of welfare-statism. [Steps down from crate, releases copious belly] Posted by: joncelli and Yoko, after clicking that link at September 19, 2017 02:42 PM (RD7QR) I learned in Property class in law school, taught by a near-Marxist, that there are 3 attributes to ownership: the ability to buy or sell a thing, the ability to use it as you desire, and the usufruct (the fruits that it produces). If the state controls how you can use something and takes most of the usufruct, the state has effectively socialized your property without regard to who actually owns the title to it. That is modern "democratic" socialism: pay your taxes and use your business like we tell you to, and you get to keep some of the profits. Ok, Trump read a good speech at the UN. Now What?
JFK gave a good speech and we went to the moon. Then threw away all the tools, and forgot how we did it. Reagan gave a good speech, "Tear down this wall!" and it happened; Communism metastasized, spread everywhere and we elected one President of the US. Obama read a good speech. *Don't ask me, everyone who loves him said so* and Northern Africa turned into a conflagration, refugees flooded into Europe, and are coming here. So what next? Do you maybe want to reconsider how you speak to and treat the staff who are preparing documents that you don't really read before you sign it and the staff files it? Just. You know. Asking. You go into these small towns in Gaza and, like a lot of small towns in the Middle East, the jobs have been gone now and nothing's replaced them. And they fell through successive promises as do-gooders in the West have said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren't like them or anti-Israel sentiment or anti-West sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.
