1 Good Morning Morons Today is Sunday, September 17, 2017. On this day in 2001 the New York Stock Exchange reopened for trading after the September 11 attacks. It was the longest closure since the Great Depression.

British police Saturday raided a home in a London suburb that belongs to an elderly couple honored for their work with child refugees as part of the fast-moving investigation into London's subway bombing Friday that injured 30 people.

Obama wrote in a hidden paragraph in his pen and ink DACA that gave a shortcut that allowed them to vote. Too bad the MFM never published that. I put up a link for it a few days ago. And even though a TX judge struck down Obama's DACA BS, he continued to do it and disregarded the judge's orders. When congress took all their opposition off the table he could do anything he wanted.

That's going to get interesting.
1. They attempted to contact the Governors office 36 hours before.
2. They are not legally required to have backup generating capacity sufficient for air conditioning.

I read that they had fans running to cool the patients, so they must have had *some* level of backup power. Just not enough for the heavy load required for A/C.

I get the feeling they're being scapegoated.

I know of some assisted living facilities that are five to eight thousand dollars a month, and some that are half that price.

Imagine spending 100k a year for 'a place for Mom', then imagine being able to spend half as much. Would the facility with a huge back-up generator for A/C enter into peoples equations or would they play the odds?

My guess, in this day and age, would be they'd pay the lesser amount, then sue if/when things go wrong.

Yep, it's expensive. We pay just under $5000/month for mom to live in assisted living. They have a huge back-up generator to keep everything running in case of an emergency.
We looked around and yes there are other less expensive homes and you get what you pay for as with all things in life.
Does that mean that the less expensive alternatives abuse their clients? No.
Harvey and Irma were massive storms. As with any natural disaster tragedies will occur.
My husband's FIL from his first marriage is 94. He's been sleeping on an air mattress in a shelter since Irma passed through. Bottled water, no electric, no showers and limited cooking. Flushing toilets with water from the only well on a small generator.
FL and TX are doing their best with what they have.
Thankfully the FIL had electricity restored late yesterday.

88 How deep the Father's love for us

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z65YxhqY0_E

How deep the Father's love for us
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure

Behold the man upon a cross
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

Well, we do have some people on here for whom marriage was not a blessing-at least near the end-which is sad, but for me-although we haven't been without some squabbles (What married couple hasn't?) my husband is my best friend. 98 Just read the judge's opinion from the St. Louis cop shooting case. Had not followed the case, and was wondering if there was anything to it, or just more racial grievance agitating and excuse for rioting/looting.

From the judge's recitation of the evidence, it does not appear that this was a bad shooting. It also does not appear very likely that the cop planted the gun after the shooting, as many have claimed. At the time the shooter cop retrieved the gun from between the front seats, there were multiple other cops standing around the car, and there were also bystanders filming him. Also, the judge describes in detail what the shooter cop was wearing and the fact that there were no visible bulges on his person (indicating no hidden gun on him to plant in the car). So unless this guy was some type of magician, the gun he found was actually in the car; it was not planted there by him.

Also, during the melee in the Church's parking lot, where the two cops had first spotted the apparent drug transaction (and the suspects had repeatedly rammed the cops' car), the shooter cop's partner had yelled out "gun" when he first saw the driver perp with a gun.

Plus, given the nature of the suspects and their behavior in the Church's parking lot, how likely is it that they didn't have a gun? They were dealing drugs in a seedy part of St. Louis. We're supposed to believe they were carrying drugs and cash on them, but no gun?

Anyway, here is the judge's opinion in this case, if anybody is interested in reading it.

152 Assisted Living can be good, but most of the elderly I've known want to stay in their home, with all their memories. And hopefully they still have family close that can take care of a lot of their needs. CNAs (certified nurse assistants) can come by for not a lot, maybe three times a week to do some bathing type things. For my Mom Medicare paid for that, and a nurse once a week or so to check some things.

Nursing homes can be good and I guess are necessary, but whenever a child can take in the parent, it is a better way, as I see it. There are some groups advocating to make that happen, and i think the nursing home "union" types try to make that difficult. The commie village wants control over the elderly.

The internet is also helpful and a lot of med devices can be monitored remotely. Isolation is perhaps the worst part for many, so any time family can be involved, it really helps. But the Dem/commie enemy is pretty intent on breaking the family from womb to tomb, and putting Hillary's Commie Village in charge.

Hard to say. I'm hoping things will get under control by next Sunday, but Ballwin is not necessarily safe. 163 Just looking at the media stories about the St. Louis shooting. They routinely refer to the white cop as "an AK-toting white cop." The cop had an AK in the back of his car, for extra protection. He did not shoot the suspect with it; it was simply in the back of the cop car. It had no role at all in the shooting. So why does it keep appearing in the headlines?

Also, they keep showing a photograph of the dead guy with a kid. They're trying to depict him as an innocent family man, rather than as what he was that got him killed: an armed drug dealer who twice violently rammed a cop car, and then drove the wrong way into traffic (trying to escape the cops), and then, after the cops stopped him by hitting his car, he reached for his gun.

As I mentioned in a prior comment, the judge went into painstaking detail recounting what happened at the scene. The two cops from the pursuit both approached the car, they yelled at the driver to open the door and then they yelled at him to show them his hands, and then they both jumped back (one bystander witness said something happened that startled the officers), then the one cop shoots the driver.

After the shooting, the shooter cop retrieved the suspect's gun from the car with 6 other cops standing there watching him, and while being filmed by bystanders. No way he planted that gun. And anybody who believes that those two drug dealers were doing their cash business in St. Louis without having a gun on them is just hopelessly naive.

It doesn't have to make sense. Way back when, the town I lived in (a village of about 6,000 people) gathered a contingent for the March Against Monsanto. That company's core business is feeding the world by increasing crop yields, but somewhere along the way Monsanto became a designated villain because MONSANTO!!

Now there are protests around St. Louis. You know what's in St. Louis? Monsanto. Yet all of this righteous wrath isn't directed at the evil corporation that's right there.

They might as well be saying "The chair is against the wall." It means something to them. For myself, I'm done trying to make sense of their idiotic ramblings. In fact, I've concluded that the less sense it makes, the better it is for advancing their agenda.

The other thing I'm done with is bringing logic to the argument, whether it's with our side or the other side. It has become totally irrelevant.

Hands Up Don't Shoot ... Holder sent in like 50 feds, took control of the PD (iirc) as he had done in many cities. Always about using the power of race to bring the left together, and to tear America apart. It is clearly a part (maybe the biggest part) of the plan to destroy Western Civilization (too white?).

It is enemy action, that is the clear conclusion. When black drug dealers shoot innocents, it makes them heroes in the gangland. But the MFM promotes BLM as legit, and antifa and any commie agitator group.

Want to bet they are middle to upper class and in university training? These people are just as likely to start a Class War (and if the media covered them honestly would be guaranteed to) as a Race War. They are *using* blacks as both mask and excuse for the burning and breaking they *want* to do.

I'm happy. :^) I get to proclaim Christ and Christian discipleship in the tiny little church in a world full of strange gods and clergy that want to make the church more like a Rotary Club rather than a school of Christian discipleship under the direction of the Holy Spirit.

182 who believes that those two drug dealers were doing their cash business in St. Louis without having a gun on them is just hopelessly naive.

You got to carry weapons, cause you always carry cash.

183 I was thinking about the Dreamers yesterday and I came to an inescapable conclusion. The USA has no choice BUT to return them to their native countries.

1. Dreamers are prototype saints. Listening to the LSM, they are kind, generous, educated and just all around marvelous in every way.

2. The countries from which they came have economic and governmental problems.

3. The Dreamers, returned to their native countries, would solve their economic and governmental problems and make those countries the socialist utopias that our colleges and universities have taught the Dreamers all about.

Therefore, returning the Dreamers to their native countries is the single greatest act of GENEROSITY that the USA could do for those countries.

184 There is a choice, good or bad but a choice.
Europe has a very similar one, maybe more deadly.
But neither has to make a good decision.

1) I admire Trivial Pursuer (above) for taking the time to actually read Wilson's opinion.

2) During the Ferguson riots, some of the worst property damage was done by out-of-town visitors who arrived by bus.

3) "Is Ballwin, MO safe, or should my husband cancel his scheduled visit?" I mean, for God's sake-- get real. I forgive that poster since she's not from around here.

To the Antifa Parents Club: When the real violence starts, try to remember to act surprised.

195 "I forgive that poster since she's not from around here".

Thank you. No, I'm not from STL but have visited a few times and wasn't sure whether Ballwin was far enough into the burbs to be considered "safe" in this instance, given that the protestors/rioters were supposed to be moving into West County last night. Besides, nothing short of nukes dropping on STL is going to stop hubby from going in any event, since he's going by himself and had planned to all along (I have other committments).
