Trump DOJ: No Plans to Prosecute Lois Lerner

It's almost as if we changed presidents but the actual government remained completely intact.

I don't know if this is Trump's call or Sessions' call or if it was made by subordinates and there's some doctrine of non-interference from political appointees that prevents them from doing anything about it -- but I'm getting very tired of the One Party Government.

Not even a special counsel to look into this independently? Nothing?

Was it all a lie? And if it was all a lie -- then what else can I trust?

If the Swamp turns out to have acted properly here, then maybe the Swamp shouldn't be drained, huh?

And hey -- good call on keeping John Koskinen in the IRS chief spot.

I mean, if this was all a lie from the start, then I guess this faithful civil servant should keep his job, right?

102 See, the prosecution, after careful study of the issues, concluded that it would be difficult to obtain a conviction. It would take a lot of work, cost a lot of money, and consume precious resources best utilized in the investigation of actual crimes like the crimes that Trump is known to have committed.

Just common sense. The Federal Government has budgetary constraints like everyone else. If Congress would vote to give more resources to the Executive Branch there might be some limited investigation that could be done later, time permitting.

I wouldn't call it over-hyped. Nobody knows exactly where it will hit until it does. People in the prospective path have to make plans and decide whether to evacuate or not ahead of time based on the best information they have. Waiting until the last minute means you might be stuck in traffic or out of gas when it hits.

The penalties for guessing wrong are severe.

Any other Republican candidate would have run a completely different race against what was obviously one of the worst Democrat nominees in history. We have no idea how a hypothetical race would have turned out because it would have been completely different.

My own belief is that Hilary was a pretty easy to beat and just about any Republican would have beaten her. But these comparisons are ultimately useless because everything would have been different with a different nominee.

Hilariously, Lerner petitioned the court to permanently seal her testimony. I say hilariously for two reasons. One, WTF? The Property owner incurs all of the other expenses.

You can't pay a tax by proxy. Sure. The cost of the tax influences rent, but that is not the same as paying taxes on private property.

You're being too literal. Of course they pay real estate taxes and any other fees that add up to the total cost of the asset's total cost.

Does it get broken down in the mostly rent invoice? Of course not. Nothing gets broken down, there is just a monthly invoice. But that invoice reflects the total cost of ownership which includes taxes unless the owner is a complete dumbass or a nice person like grammie.

You don't pay the IRS for the bill your weapons manufacturer incurs but with every purchase you make you are contributing to his payment. Same same.

The excuse was that you never really know where it's gonna hit! Best be on the safe side! People will say we got it wrong and will ignore our warnings when the next storm comes!

It is common with commercial properties. Most of them include a build out/reconfiguration of the space to suit the business. The lease needs to ensure that those costs are recovered, along with all expenses associated with property ownership and include positive cash flow.

Any other candidate wouldn't have been Trump. There was a whole new category of Republican voters minted under Trump called Never Trumpers. This was a pretty unique occurrence for a major Party candidate to be repudiated to that extent by members of his own Party and it cost him votes from the right.

Hillary was a God awful candidate. I think she could have been defeated by a random bath salts enthusiast. Pretending Trump was uniquely able to beat her without looking at his own baggage is not a fair comparison.

373 Trump and Cruz (and Bernie) were the outsiders, but Cruz was not really and had his own problems. The best indicator that Trump was the best one to beat Hillary was how he rallied so many at his events. (plus how handily he won the primary)

Any "traditional" election and another Republican would have lost in gentlemanly fashion to the first woman. Or maybe the Obama failures would have carried over to Crooked Hillary. Any other R had deep state backing, so where would we really be even if they had won? Cruz was the second best hope, but he did come up through the Bush machine, as did his (CFR) wife.

In any case ... here we are. Globalist deep state being exposed left and right, nothing being done about it. We've gotten a few things ... need more to survive.

376 This is exactly why Jason Chaffetz says he left Congress. He said that not only doesn't Congress perform it's required duties, but it is completely impotent to do anything it might actually want to do against the agencies it is supposed to actually oversee. He has stated within the past week that the current DOJ is no different than Obama's DOJ in that it refuses to provide documents and witnesses that are being supeoned by Congress, including ones court ordered.

Prosecuting someone you need evidence of a crime. I have very, very little doubt that the corrupt and incompetent Obama DOJ did every single thing they possibly could to destroy evidence, and generally muck up any case you could possibly make in every way imaginable. They probably cut immunity deals with everyone and anyone, then had them testify there was nothing whatsoever wrong. Files lost, destroyed, never picked up. Evidence misplaced. Records changed. Oopsey left right and center. Or worse, manufactured reams of evidence that nothing wrong happened. More than enough to exonerate anyone involved.

At some point you simply have an unwinnable case. If the prosecutors don't want a case brought forward, you tank the case. It is that simple.

Years after the fact, what exactly can Sessions do?

Lastly, I have NO DOUBT what the IRS did was at the behest and direct approval of democratic senators and the white house. Now what? prosecute the senators? Obama? If you are going to shoot at the king, you had better not miss, and the gun has been tampered with.

I'm putting trust in Trump's team over there at DOJ. Besides could it be a statute of limitations issue?
