I don't know if this is Trump's call or Sessions' call or if it was made by subordinates and there's some doctrine of non-interference from political appointees that prevents them from doing anything about it -- but I'm getting very tired of the One Party Government. Not even a special counsel to look into this independently? Nothing? Was it all a lie? And if it was all a lie -- then what else can I trust? Jerry felt tired and took a nap this afternoon, and quietly passed away. Jerry Pournelle, taking a Step Farther Out. I remember and episode of the "Tomorrow" show with Tom Snyder, back in the late '70's, with Jerry as one of the guests for the whole hour. Any other line US employees ever take the fifth at a congressional hearing, when asked about their work? How is it possible this was sensible for her, and yet evidence of wrongdoing does not exist? More I think about it, this resembles the outrageous Espionage Act case against Hillary and Co. - much publicly known info, de facto, proves that crimes were committed. Just a question of exactly which ones, and by whom, when. The IG's report I believe basically laid out enough facts to make "insufficient evidence" an implausible excuse, without further elaboration. They were just doing their thing, baking cakes. A couple of freaks come in and they get a bad vibe and don't want to bake the freaks a cake. The freaks go to the Guvmint and scream and shout and turn themselves about. The guvmint comes to the cake bakers and orders them to bake the freaks a cake. The Cake Bakers, thinking they live in a free country, trust in the "system" to prove they are free to do as they wish, not what a couple of freaks want them to do. Deep State was really fast to get that fake golden shower dossier out there, then the fake Russia/Trump story (now discredited), and all the other manipulations (getting Sessions out of the circle) -- coordinated in order to from the outset have unlimited special counsel with an order so open it could take eight years to terrorize everything Trump, and keep him under Deep State thumb. Otherwise they all serve long time in prison, if not hung for treason.

There's a civil suit against Lerner and one other co-defendant (I think), by the persecuted groups/individuals.
Hilariously, Lerner petitioned the court to permanently seal her testimony. I say hilariously for two reasons. One, WTF? Why would testimony in a case about public service ever need to be sealed, apart from national security cases? (paging Ignoramus - maybe this is not so unusual and there's a boring rationale, dunno, please edumucate if needed) Two, the reason for sealing the testimony was fear of violence against the defendants. Renters pay property tax via third party
So, none. Posted by: garrett at September 08, 2017 08:47 PM If the payments the renters pay to the building owner don't cover the expenses of keeping the building, which includes all taxes, all the cost of doing business, including legal fees, building inspections, bribes, and etc and so forth, the building owner will sell the building to someone else who can make the renters pay. Eventually, the Federal Government takes the building over, and then after twenty years or more, they tear it down because the people living in the building have made the place uninhabitable. You're being too literal. Of course they pay real estate taxes and any other fees that add up to the total cost of the asset's total cost. Does it get broken down in the mostly rent invoice? Of course not. Nothing gets broken down, there is just a monthly invoice. Jay, as I said elsewhere, the IG's report on the matter was pretty damning. It's hard for me to believe that there is no evidence of something, if the IG found evidence enough to come to such a spectacular, and explosive conclusion.
Very similar, as I said, to the Espionage Act case against Hillary and Co. Classifed info was placed outside the system (systematically, for years). Ipso facto crime - period. Just a matter of determining who did it. Comey's bizarre absolution of Hillary was, as noted at the time, absurd, including misstating the elements of the crime in question (intent not an element under one section). But everyone should be just as outraged by the (continuing) lack of GOP outrage and action on this, as by what *may* be a defensible legal tactical calculation at DOJ's criminal division. Don't recall Trump actually singling this topic out, but I could be wrong. But if the stupid, unthinking instinct to "not prosecute political opponents" (which isn't the point, at all) prevails on this, and Hillary, then the hilarious spontaneous "lock her up!" chants that STILL break out at Trump rallies will be, in retrospect, sort of the last whimper of grass-roots common sense probably ever heard in America .... Trump and Cruz (and Bernie) were the outsiders, but Cruz was not really and had his own problems. The best indicator that Trump was the best one to beat Hillary was how he rallied so many at his events. (plus how handily he won the primary)
Any "traditional" election and another Republican would have lost in gentlemanly fashion to the first woman. Or maybe the Obama failures would have carried over to Crooked Hillary. Any other R had deep state backing, so where would we really be even if they had won? Cruz was the second best hope, but he did come up through the Bush machine, as did his (CFR) wife. In any case ... here we are. Globalist deep state being exposed left and right, nothing being done about it. We've gotten a few things ... need more to survive. This is exactly why Jason Chaffetz says he left Congress. He said that not only doesn't Congress perform it's required duties, but it is completely impotent to do anything it might actually want to do against the agencies it is supposed to actually oversee. He has stated within the past week that the current DOJ is no different than Obama's DOJ in that it refuses to provide documents and witnesses that are being supeoned by Congress, including ones court ordered.

Bad decision. What could Congress do? Defund the IRS? Abolish the IRS? They won't, so its just crocodile tears by them. If Congress members were truly outraged, couldn't they enact something like the flat tax and get rid of the IRS?

Not to defend what happened, but I'll give it a shot.
Prosecuting someone you need evidence of a crime. I have very, very little doubt that the corrupt and incompetent Obama DOJ did every single thing they possibly could to destroy evidence, and generally muck up any case you could possibly make in every way imaginable. They probably cut immunity deals with everyone and anyone, then had them testify there was nothing whatsoever wrong. Files lost, destroyed, never picked up. Evidence misplaced. Records changed. Oopsey left right and center. Or worse, manufactured reams of evidence that nothing wrong happened. More than enough to exonerate anyone involved. At some point you simply have an unwinnable case. If the prosecutors don't want a case brought forward, you tank the case. It is that simple. Years after the fact, what exactly can Sessions do? Lastly, I have NO DOUBT what the IRS did was at the behest and direct approval of democratic senators and the white house. Now what? prosecute the senators? Obama? If you are going to shoot at the king, you had better not miss, and the gun has been tampered with. Posted by: Dean Wormer at September 08, 2017 09:48 PM (fftfA) 380
I kind of assumed PDT understood he wasn't elected President to be happy. If he's happy, he's not making enough of the right people unhappy. Similar to flak, over target, etc. Hey, he gets to snuggle with Melania every night in a friggin great house with great food and a personal plane, so I want him to be a nasty bastard all day!

You charge them with the crimes committed and let the legal system work it out. At least they pay legal fees and get to deal with the lawyers like the rest of us have to.

We picked a flawed candidate in Trump. Luckily, the Dems picked someone incandescently worse, then acted like a-holes to everyone who didn't like her.

Congress charged her with criminal contempt. The law REQUIRES the DOJ to convene a GJ to determine if charges are warranted. It is not a decision to made by the DOJ.
Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at September 08, 2017 07:58 PM (mpXpK) The problem is that determination was made. By Holder and Lynch. Pretty sure you could find a judge to say that using that contempt charge would be double jeopardy. Posted by: SDN at September 08, 2017 10:27 PM (z3gg+) 388
I always though that Sessions was a stupid, senile old dupe when Mark Levin interviewed him on his radio show. I never imagined he was this corrupt.

Trump is who we said he is - an erratic, unpredictable buffoon with an extensive history of liberal Democrat leaning, updated with a very short list of startlingly conservative statements.

Sometimes it's just a matter of not having proof beyond a reasonable doubt. Plus Sessions and DOJ have bigger fish to fry now so spending extraordinary resources on this might not be the best. I'm putting trust in Trump's team over there at DOJ. Besides could it be a statute of limitations issue?
