Media Gushed Over John McCain's "Profile in Courage" as He Locked Obamacare Into Place
The video compilation here leaves no doubt as to the media's position on Obamacare. They're gushing at a rate of liquid discharge I'd rate as a 40 centiobamas.
Ed Morrissey notes Trump is trying to goad the Senate GOPe into taking up Obamacare repeal again, but the Senate GOPe is refusing. That's pretty terrible. You don't get to lie to everyone forever without consequences. As Eric Cantor said, many in Congress never expected to really repeal Obamacare, but they "rode the anger" for their own political benefit. Stipulated, "riding the anger" is a useful motivating tool for turnout. But what happens when people see their anger is being cynically exploited by liars and liberals? How many more times does the GOPe expect it can "ride the anger" without ever doing anything positive to make their voters less angry? And what happens when the anger being ridden is turned against the GOPe? You'd think the GOPe would have a partial answer to that question -- the last time the base felt like it was being used like a cheap lay, it revolted by nominating (and electing) Trump. All Trump has to do is let the REAL law be enacted as it was supposed to be. Get rid of all waivers - especially the one given to Congress itself by Obama. Also, Tom Price can do whatever he wants with the rules inside the ACA...which will prove the crappiness of the law to both Republicans Democrats alike.

After years of observing the politics surrounding Roe v Wade, I came to the conclusion Republicans would always find an excuse to not change the status quo even if they had the opportunity. They make too much money stoking the fire. If Roe were actually struck down and the fight went to the state level, all the money drains out at the federal level.

See, that's the beauty of having McCain cast the terminating vote: he's untouchable now, as in "OMG you're attacking a guy with brain cancer!!" Trump and the GOPe needs to focus the anger on a few sacrificial sheep--i.e., Senator Heller needs to have an example made of him in the Nevada primary, and if he goes on to the general, vote Democrat. Neither Collins, Capito nor Murky are up in 2018. Trump needs to target a few. If the Reps lose one or two RINOs this will be offset by gains in other states, providing the anger is channeled, and Trump works to get some selective new faces in there.
I figure they could lose three comfortably.

After years of observing the politics surrounding Roe v Wade, I came to the conclusion Republicans would always find an excuse to not change the status quo even if they had the opportunity. There was a story the other day about McConnell warning strategists that they better not work in the primaries against any incumbent lest they be starved for work. This sounds about right. Party leadership is about protecting itself and screw all you rubes out there. Party leadership should be the target - hit McConnell as hard as possible. Also, the party leadership at the state level is what needs to be changed as swiftly as possible. Arizona, Alaska, Kentucky, and others should be at the top of the list.
Remove the state party heads and get true conservatives in there and the changes should come. Not every primary is going to end up with a scalp like Cantor's, so we shouldn't expect that. But if we can hammer on the state party leaders who gift us with such winners as McConnell and McCain, then we might have a chance.
But in the end, I still say that a convention of the states is truly our only recourse.

No, there is no defense. What I personally think happens is that people vote for these "celebrity politicians." Their faces are always on the news, everyone knows who they are, they hold power....it's a way for the voters to feel important.

I disagree in the strongest possible terms. In no possible way should the filibuster be eliminated, its not just a beautifully American thing, its also one of the few times you get congressmen to actually work.
What you need to do is force filibusters to actually happen. None of this 'signal the intentional walk" BS. They have to stand up and make the speeches without taking a break, actually do the filibuster. I guarantee you that 90% of these fake "oh we're filibustering" stunts would stop if congressmen had to actually do it instead of signal it.

Trump has (so far) refused to fund the risk corridor program after today. If he keeps his promise (no reason to see why he wouldn't as he has kept a bunch of his campaign promises) obamacare will collapse upon itself like a black hole. We already have 47 Counties in the US with zero insurers and well over 200 Counties with just one obamacare choice.
Extra plus double good is the fact that he has threatened to remove all subsidies from Congress.

The problem is, the GOP keeps getting away with it, and I don;t know any other way of sticking it to them without electing Democrats that will put in Single Payer the first chance they get.

Once you cross that line, elections don't really matter anymore. Canada, France and the UK all elect "conservative" governments from time to time, but does anything actually change? McCain has a rolodex from his Presidential run that just easily rakes in big bucks.
Also, all the state interests in AZ know they have to write a check to McCain. That's why people like Trump gave to all sorts of Democrats when he was just a businessman. It's how you get business done.
It's just a hard feat to pull off unless you have a perfect storm.
But had McCain never been the Presidential nominee, I do think he would have been beaten in a primary eventually.

Give the people what they want, what they like, and they will be your friend.

There are aspects of libertarian philosophy that I agree with, but the "party" such as it is, is a complete waste of time and money. Not only can it not actually agree upon anything, but there is a large portion that's simply leftists who don't like Democrats and want legal (insert personal vice here).
I bring up Gary Johnson not as some strange aberration but as being typical, symbolic of the party. They don't ever, every do anything serious or constructive or useful. Every candidate they put out there is a complete loser waste of space.

They want to keep the parts of government that benefit them, though. So the Libertarians with a house want to keep the mortgage interest deduction, the Libertarians with kids want to keep the deduction for dependents, etc.
That's why they can mostly agree on drugs and not much else. We do need a new party, but it can't be based on each member's personal circumstances.

Not to mention they are isolationists; I'm sure many of them oppose even the existence of U.S. embassies across the world. I have tendencies towards libertarianism but I will never make the full leap because of this, among other things.

If a party gets the majority, let them do their thing with 50 +1 and toss them if it's no good.
Then 50 + 1 with the new guys can repeal and replace and be responsible for what they've done.
Now the republicans are responsible for not removing what the democrats stuck the country with. Pretty fkked up.

OT, via ZeroHedge: it seems that detective hired by the Rich family is now suing Fox news over coverage of the Seth Rich murder.
Gee, seems to me that this happed so that we would stop talking about DWS and the Awan brothers.
At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if:
1. DNC murdered Seth Rich

3. Awan was selling secrets to enemies of America

Yep. Before the "war on drugs" the government wasn't all up in your grill about cash. You could deposit $10m in small bills at your bank and it didn't get reported to anybody. Hell, you could open a bank account under an assumed name.

I have been a season ticket holder for 30yr on the right field wall and no way i interfere with my team in that situation. So I do blame the Bart Man some. The guy next to him too, he was trying for it but was lucky and just missed. That being said there were alot of miscues after that and we still had our best pitcher (Pryor or Wood i forget) for game 7, so it's not all on him. I deserve a ring more than him if you ask me!!!

There are probably a lot of people who've never taken drugs because it's a hassle to get them, and some percentage of those people will wind up in trouble if drugs are legalized. Personally, I think that falls under the "acceptable losses" category, but it's not nothing. The government didn't make drugs illegal on a whim, way back when.

They want to keep the parts of government that benefit them, though. So the Libertarians with a house want to keep the mortgage interest deduction, the Libertarians with kids want to keep the deduction for dependents, etc.
That's why they can mostly agree on drugs and not much else. We do need a new party, but it can't be based on each member's personal circumstances.

Our elected officials have to tackle just a few things:
immigration (enforce the duly passed laws, already)
economy: excessive regulation/reduce corporate taxation
repeal Obamacare and get the hell out of my doctor's office.
Scare the sh*t out of Iran and Norks
Around my house, I'm OK with snakes. They don't sh*t in my house, like mice, which they eat.

YOU don't know what liberty means, actually. You think liberty = drugs, and you can't stop thinking about drugs. And, you being Libertarian, REFUSE to lift a finger for liberty, because Libertarians believe freedom and liberty exist for the asking.
