The National Laughinstock Now Praising Denver to Reduce Maximum Sentences for Domestic Violence -- Wife-Beating -- So as to Protect Illegals from Deportation

This may sound familiar -- a Green Card holder struck a plea deal for his two bank robberies to be sentenced to just one day less than a year, because any sentence of a year or more exposes a Green Card holder to deportation.

The Boston prosecutors successfully kept this Solid Non-Citizen in the country, where he went off to an economically fruitful and diverse career of murdering two doctors engaged to one another.

Not to be outdone, sanctuary city Denver is now "fighting back" -
-- the National Laughinstock's words --
against the illegal immigration crackdown by reducing the maximum sentences for a wide variety of crimes, including wife-beating, which they used to be rather firmly against, but different circumstances have revealed their true priorities.

With a raft of allegedly "minor" crimes now capped in sentencing to no more than one day less than a year, Denver hopes to keep a lot of criminals contributing to the diverse quilt of murder and vehicular manslaughter that is the fabric of American greatness.

Allegedly these sentencing guidelines apply to anyone, but I have a feeling that they'll make an occasional exception for actual US citizens, and sentence them to longer stays in jail.

Prosecutors have a heavy caseload. They have to triage what cases to go hard on, and which ones to plea out. The defense attorneys say that if the prosecutors offer isn't less than "X", their client will be subject to deportation, and thus the client will have no choice but to go to trial. And the prosecutor will be forced to try a case of lesser overall importance, rather than concentrate on a another case with a worse set of facts.

These tactics work every day.

I like it. Eat a Colorado burrito at Burrito Express about twice a month. Tasty. Not soupy. Also get a chile relleno (with beans and rice) burrito there that I think is really good.

Colorado has outstanding beef. I theorize it's because they do a more credible job of enforcing standards. Crack open a package of ground chuck and it's red all the way through. Do that in Houston and it's red on the outside, brown on the inside. Anecdotal observation. Your mileage may vary.
