CNN Scolds Liberals for Spreading "Conspiracy Theory" That "Rape Will be a Pre-Existing Condition" if Obamacare Is Repealed, Without Noting That CNN Was a Primary #FakeNews Propagandist for the Lie

Yes, of course.

Chris Cilliza is now scolding liberals for pumping out conspiracy theories themselves dreamed up by hardened partisans, but he overlooks that CNN was a major megaphone for this #FakeNews:

"[The Affordable Care Act] ensured that tests for HIV and sexually transmitted diseases, plus domestic and interpersonal violence screening and counseling, would be completely covered by insurance companies," wrote CNN's Jen Christensen.

"That may not be the case in the future. Under the current bill, states could seek waivers that would let insurers sell plans that don't include all the essential health benefits mandated by the ACA," she added.

In case you're thinking, "But that doesn't mean the article reported that 'Rape and Domestic Violence Could be Pre-Existing Conditions,'" you should also know that the much-linked-and-tweeted story was headlined Rape and domestic violence could be pre-existing conditions.

By the way, Google still returns zero hits for any news story on the Washington Post reporting that the "hate crime" it reported on endlessly turned out to be a complete false-flag hoax.

Google also reports no stories on this hate-crime-revealed-as-yet-another-hoax on the New York Times or, of course, CNN's website, either -- at least, searching for the admitted hoaxer's name, George Stang or George Nathaniel Stang, turns up no references on either #FakeNews site.

46 This is what I love about the "fake news" meme. Liberals and their Media Industrial Complex think they're being clever when they hashtag fake news behind stuff Trump says, or whenever they want to be smug about something.

The problem is, they can't sustain it. All their precious media sources are... the main purveyors of fake news. They jumped on this bandwagon themselves, thinking they were going to throw this in others' faces, and had no idea the blowback would be this powerful.

48 Stephanie Ruhle anchors MSNBC at 9 am, after Morning Joe.

She recently said "being a woman is a pre-existing condition."

There's something to this, actually, because women typically have far more interaction with doctors than men do, at least until they're old.

But it's this kind of thinking that leads to Sandra Flukes believing that the World owes them free birth control.

And it shits on the very real needs of men and women with chronic conditions.

And it ignores the very real problem that on current trajectory our entire healthcare system will go bankrupt.

But Stephanie gets to preen.

(She has wonderful cans, by the way).

50 There is a simpler approach - That's a FEATURE, not a bug.

One of THE biggest reasons for cost escalation are the ridiculous mandates for coverage. You, as a person, should be able to buy whatever coverage you want. If you don't want "rape coverage", you shouldn't have to buy it. If you DO want it, you should be able to buy it.

The Democrats and their lackeys in the MFM are lying to the public about Repubocare and the "gutting of pre-existing conditions". Anyone who actually looked at a summary of the bill would know that is a lie. But here is confirmation of that. The Repubocare bill actually doesn't do anything to actually reduce costs and it will be worse by the time the RINOs in the Senate get through with it.

155 Comprehensive, catastrophic, to a la carte? I pick because as a 50 29 year old man, I don't really need maternity coverage.

Health insurance in this country has been messed up for a long time. I blame WW2 wage controls, though it's obviously more complex than that.

You shouldn't *have* to get your insurance through your employer. If they want to offer it (or negotiate), great, but what employers offer car insurance or other services to their employees? I guess phone plans.

Anyway. There's also the "across state lines" part, and the fact that insurance is a *bet*. "Insurance" for a pre-existing condition is more like welfare offset by payments.

But, yeah, there's more to it. Complicated thing, and it's one of those things that looks worse while you're fixing it. Think of a car that needs repairs but is still drivable. You can't drive it while it's being fixed. Or any other large overhaul.

I don't have a solution. I don't think there's some incremental approach, but all the comprehensive ones have so many problems.

It's a strange thing, when changing something only makes it worse, never better.

Seriously.

99% of people nowadays have never even heard of it. But back in the day, The Philco Television Playhouse was the premiere showcase of dramatic scripts on TV -- back BEFORE they were all contaminated with leftist memes. (The show ran 1948-55.) And back then they were able to attract world-class acting talent to each episode. So the end result was an extremely high-quality drama every week far beyond anything that has been broadcast since.

Donald Trump is turning liberals into conspiracy theorists

http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/08/politics/trump-liberals/

1. There was no health care vote beer celebration
2. Rape and sexual assault would not be pre-existing conditions
3. The FCC is not really targeting Stephen Colbert
4. The chief usher was not fired over a disagreement with the Trumps

In each of these four instances -- and all of these have been in the last week! -- liberals, fueled by Twitter outrage, jumped to conclusions that portrayed Trump and other Republicans in the poorest possible light. And, on each occasion, the fuller story either totally or mostly rebutted the version of the story the left had seized on.
Trump's presidency presents Democrats with lots and lots of legitimate issues on which to push back -- from the travel ban to the ongoing questions about Trump officials' ties to Russia to the president's refusal to release his tax returns.
By embracing every single tweet or whisper as yet another piece of full-proof evidence of just how terrible Republicans are, Democrats run the risk of appearing like the boy who cried wolf to the public -- and in the process taking some steam out of the very legitimate questions they are asking about the Trump administration.

Enslave all doctors and nurses. Just put them in chains. They will all be owned by the Federal Government. Work them until they drop dead.

But as slaves, we won't have to pay them. Since 98% of medical "costs" are the salaries of the people providing the care, once we enslave the medical profession, then health care will necessarily become free for all.

216 The Philco Television Playhouse.

Anthology shows haven't been a thing for a long time. There's been kind of a progression from anthology shows (Playhouse 90, Outer Limits), to episodic TV, to episodic-with-recurrs, and so on up until "basically serials."

I attribute that to first, reruns/syndication, then VCRs let people watch stuff again more conveniently, and then DVDs and the Internet.

Though soap operas (which predate TV) blows a whole in that idea, sort of.

Anyway, having consistent actors and sets is a big moneysaver vs. a true anthology show, though I guess they could have some stock sets and a troupe of actors and oh crap I just described Saturday Night Live.

Okay, so non-comedy-sketch anthology shows haven't...

I give up. If anyone can salvage something from that mess I wrote, help yourself.

282 As for health insurance, to simplify.

Through some miraculous exception to the norm, surely, for decades I was able to (intermittently, depending on work situation) buy perfectly adequate insurance policies, in various jurisdictions, for prices that never amounted to a significant part of my budget.

At the end (that is, 2013, just before O-care catastrophe kicked in), this was still mostly true. My insurance bill was less than twice my cable/internet bill, to put it in perspective (for two adults).

Instantly, over-night, Jan. 1 2014, my bill was increased by *4 times* - actually 5-6 times, if I were to have maintained comparable coverage/deductibles etc. Yes, THAT much.

So of course I went without insurance for the only time in my life, for a while.

There was no uninsured crisis before O-care. Any financially, involuntarily uninsured (the ONLY category that is a rational or proper object of public policy), which numbered in the low millions, at most, could have been written checks (like Section 8 housing assistance, like food stamps). "Problem" solved.

Instead, the entire system was blown up (though most of you have barely felt it, it seems, with your piddling 20% premium increases and minor disruption of networks). Idiocy. Why I call it the final, failed national IQ test.

"Fixing" the problems that existed prior to O-care (cost increases, mostly) would be one of the simplest, easiest fixes in history. But, as a hopelessly dumbed-down, character-free country, that looks unlikely.

294 Ah well, watching the left self consume itself in the burning fire of spittle flinging rage is fun and all, but I've got important cooking stuff to accomplish.

Wife and I will soon be celebrating our 25th year together, and I'm tasked with baking up some dinner rolls for the feast.

No real recipe as yet, but here's what I have so far:

Flour, all purpose, around three cups
Sugar, 1/3 cup
Eggs, two
Salt, 1/2 tsp
Water, 1.5 cup
Yeast, 2 tsp

Mix dry ingredients, except sugar. Heat water to the point where it is very warm. Dissolve sugar into water, add yeast, and mix thoroughly. Cover, and set aside in a warm place for about ten to fifteen minutes, until very foamy, and yeasty smelling.

In a mixer bowl, add eggs to dry ingredients, and mix on low for about a minute. Add yeast mixture, mix for another minute, then switch to dough hook.

Dough should be very sticky at this point. Work dough with dough hook for a couple minutes on about '3', and start adding additional flour a tablespoon at a time, until dough is smooth, satiny, and elastic. Knead for an additional 7 minutes, then empty dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead by hand until it's right....

....It has an odd feel when it's properly kneaded, like the center of the dough is almost liquid, and the outside is more elastic. Other tests you can perform are the shape hold test, where the ball of dough in your hand will hold it's shape without sagging. Finger punch test, where you jab your index finger into the dough, up to your second joint, and remove it. Dough should not rebound. The gluten window test, where you stretch a small piece of dough out between your fingers....it should stretch out very thin, and form a thin, translucent window before breaking....

Grease a plastic bowl lightly, (I use cooking spray), transfer dough to bowl, turning once to coat, then cover, and let rise in a warm place until just doubled.

Dump dough out onto a lightly greased surface, and gently roll it out into a long snake shape. Cut into a dozen even pieces. Roll each piece, (gently!), between your hands into a ball shape, about 1.5 times larger than a golf ball. Place on a lightly greased, and corn meal dusted baking sheet. Leave about two inches separation between each piece. Be gentle here, because if you overwork the dough at this point, they'll be ruined. At this point, I like to lightly spray the tops of the rolls with cooking spray, to help keep them from drying out.

In a warm place, let them rise a second time, until about doubled...or even a bit more. Do not score the tops.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees, giving the oven a good twenty minutes for it's temperature to stabilize. Bake rolls for about ten minutes, then remove long enough to brush with beaten egg, and sprinkle sea salt and sesame seeds on them, (or whatever you prefer). Return to oven, and bake for an additional eight minutes until a golden brown. Select the largest of your rolls, and thump it's bottom with one finger, it should sound hollow, at which point, you're done.

Remove to wire rack, and let them cool for about thirty minutes.

Very soft rolls, just lightly sweet, and with some very minor modifications, make for some great hamburger and hot dog buns.

If you want to keep the insides very white, use store bought eggs, otherwise, use local fresh eggs. Do not use steam when baking.

It's Politico, so ..... yeah. But still, disturbing. By disturbing, I mean their ability to find actual former FBI people who actually said they were troubled by Comey's dismissal.

Anyone who didn't recognize, instantly, the grossly inappropriate as well as substantively absurd dereliction of Comey in his farcical July press event - well, it's somewhat shocking such ignoramuses could ever have worked at any level of federal law enforcement.

Any reasonably informed citizen recognized instantly that Comey was way out of line, in terms of process (process that matters, as in not destroying conditions for a fair trial, if it comes to that), and also on substance, where he attempted to brazenly rewrite a statute that is clear on its face, and for which the publicly known facts of the case made it a slam-dunk, easily prosecuted charge.

Dammit , I was locked in a Barbara Eden /Elizabeth Montgomery daydream. Raquel Welch was there, too, serving Chik Fil A waffle fries...mmmm waffle fries...

Okay anyway, yes like any giant .Gov failocracy, there is a 60 /40 split of people who are there for all the wrong reasons.

The good guys are split but generally disliked Comey because he was so obviously not an investigator. He was a political hack , politically hacking. He was not liked but not surprising.

The agents' job is to collect facts and go where the evidence leads, impartially and objectively as possible. Some of the evidence that you see makes you really fkn partial and non-objective. But it is your job to remain neutral and to obtain all available facts and present them to a prosecutor.

It is also you're job , after all is said and done , to throw asses into jails as ordered by the court.

Comey had no interest in either of these things and surrounded himself with like-minded political slugs. Thus he was hated by real agents and loved by political ladder-climbers.

No more complicated than that

Posted by: Mortimer - Finish Her! at May 10, 2017 03:06 PM (C52a9)

402 I do hope Mr. Stang has been fired from his organist job, because it doesn't seem like quite a professional thing to do to spray paint graffiti on the church you work for-aside from the fact that the Episcopal Church is very gay friendly church and it would probably be considered by many church members to be the Episcopal version of a mortal sin to vote for Donald Trump.

404 Also:

The average agent doing the job had no contact with Comey and only saw him on tv like everybody else.

Jagoffs like Comey LOVE to stick their noses into "exciting" casework precisely because it makes them feel like they are in the spotlight.

Most of the thousands of cases being investigated everyday do not rise to the level of politicization that Comey was obviously meddling with. Most agents avoid upper level aholes like Comey as often as possible in order to keep them away from their cases.
