Last month, my son age 21 was hiking with friends and slipped and fell 50 ft. They airlifted him to our local trauma center but his injuries were too massive and we had to make the decision to let him go. I have never experienced such pain and the days are a roller coaster on whether I can get out of bed and face the world. I am blessed to have a great support group of family and friends and faith when the days get too dark.
Since that time I have connected with a wonderful group of parents who have also lost their children due to disease, accidents, violence or suicide as we belong to a club now that no of us ever wanted to be a part of.
As horrible as it was to lose my son, it was due to an accident that happened while he was doing what he loved. Had he suffered at the hands of a monster I think that I would have to be institutionalized.

Like if people in several states started up health insurance companies that failed to comply with federal laws, and the state guaranteed that they could not be touched by any federal agency. This could be the path to a bloodless secession. Each state ignores the federal government, and people just relocate. I'd be ok with that. I imagine it would be messy.

I am going to suggest that LEGAL immigrants from south of the border fit the same pattern --- because people who come here LEGALLY have a different mindset than those who just jump.
