New York Times Claims to Support Free Speech on Campus, Then Proceeds to Blame Violence on Campuses on Right Wing "Narrative" of Phony Oppression

What?

Though speakers of all ideologies regularly appear at colleges without incident, a few widely publicized disruptions feed a narrative of leftist enclaves of millennial snowflakes refusing to abide ideas they disagree with. From the president to Fox News, right-wing voices wail, through their megaphones, about how put upon they are, like soccer players collapsing to the turf and writhing in pretend agony.

The woman whose neck was wrenched so badly she had to go to the hospital and have it immobilized in a brace is a liberal, New York Times. Did she do a Spanish Soccer League "flop" and pretend her agony?

Did the girl wearing a Make Bitcoin Great Again hat who got maced in the face by a black bloc progressive terrorist pretend her agony?

Did the people bloodied up on Saturday's pro-Trump marches pretend the blood flowing from their foreheads and noses?

It's a "Right Wing Narrative" that people are getting beaten and even shot by black bloc terrorists on college campuses? The right wing is spreading this, what, #FakeNews?

And somehow the fake news lies about black bloc assaults and terrorism are provoking the actual assaults and terrorism?

A bit like how Donald Trump's mention of violence due to immigration in Sweden then caused immigrant rioting the next day?

Defending those who engage in political violence is active encouragement of political violence.

You know, there are people who still hold out hope that the left are not the monsters they suspect they might be, and that they will awaken to the horror of the illiberal and hyperpartisan and increasingly violent world they are making.

I can nod a little bit of respect towards the optimism and goodwill of such people, but at some point, one has to take a realistic appraisal and stop relying on hope as a plan.

Consider this another data-point to answer the question I asked yesterday: How close is America to the edge, when leading progressive institutions are now offering defenses of street-violence so long as the violence is coming from the left side and being visited upon the right side?

When a newspaper can no longer simply denounce a violent black bloc mob's assault on men and one woman without trying to excuse it away as somehow the fault of the victims of the attack, then I would say we're pretty close to the edge.

The left is now in war mode, where violence in the service of tribe is sometimes (by which I mean "almost always") excusable.

A nation that cannot agree on the most basic nation-making proposition -- that we do not wage actual physical, violent civil war on each other over mere differences of political opinion -- is not a nation, at least not in more but name, and will not be even that for very long.

The allegedly "respectable" left used to claim the black bloc violent protesters have nothing to do with them.

Really?

Then why are you defending them and making excuses for them? People only excuse monstrous behavior for those they consider of the Party.

Everything for The Party; Nothing against The Party.

This reminds me of Islamist clerics who pretend to denounce jihad but then add, "But this is all due to Western aggression and Zionism..."

One defines one's Tribe by the excuses it's willing to make on their behalf.

"This innocent man accused of armed robbery has nothing to do with the Genovese Family," said the Genovese Crime Family's top mob-lawyer as that lawyer the proceeded to defend, at great cost, the man allegedly having nothing at all to do with the "so-called" Genovese Crime Family.

Like I said: an inside-outside game.

I've been told for years about the growing threat of right-wing extremism and how right-wing leaders have to police and denounce their own to keep from encouraging extremists to commit violence, and this is the New York Times' response to left wing violence?

To encourage it and excuse it away, precisely as they've (erroneously) accused right wing "leaders" of doing for years?

I heard the media shriek and whine that Trump supporters would jeer and mock Katy Tur. That was a threat to Democracy Itself, they lectured.

Now their Shock Troops are beating people in the street, and their response is to claim right-wingers are making up sob stories and thereby... provoking their own beat-downs?

When the inevitable violent reaction comes -- and it's both amusing and horrifying to me that the self-declared "elites" have never read a history book and seen that all violent movements inevitably provoke a violent counter-movement -- and the New York Times demands denunciation of it, I'll personally remember the brave and socially-conscious example they set themselves on this matter.

20 This is what happens when you label groups of people as deplorable and irredeemable, eh?

PJ Media has an excerpt from one of the Middlebury protesters explaining why what happened to the professor was not their fault. It's as mind-boggling as you would expect, full of logic like: "We [the crowd] blocked Murray as he exited, but the security *escalated* things by pushing us out o the way..." and "Some people were pounding the car, but the driver backed into us despite knowing there were people standing behind the car..." No acknowledgement that they created the situations in which Murray and team had to act defensively, or that that actions have consequences. Nope, you should be able to protest and intimidate with zero consequences.

86 I should qualify that I am still waiting for the police report on my accident from mid January. I've been to the department twice now, and no report. How long does it take to write one of those things down? If we had a sitrep* overseas, we had exactly twenty-four hours to write the cable and send it to Washington, and any other pertinent posts. It didn't matter if we had been in a riot, bombed, attacked, whatever. I guess it's a lot harder when some idiot runs a red light and hits the person in front of them. 164 And as a perfect representative of the left/progressives.

Bob Beckel. On The Five just now.
Who just showed a video of Ben Carson speaking to his employees of HUD. Carson was commenting something about" how we are all immigrants, although some immigrants came here in the bottom of slave ships, but were immigrants, none the less and " then went on with his positive message.

Beckel began lecturing that Carson had to be careful when he talks about slaves, who were not immigrants , who didn't get paid for their labor, blah blah, and then said Carson has no qualifications for that job and ought to go back to being a surgeon , although "I wouldn't have him operate on my family".

The other four went after him about that remark and he started sputtering it was a joke.

No it wasn't. He wasn't laughing during his comments, in fact he was his usual purple face career drunk look while he was angrily lecturing.

Please Fox, remove him. He is a liability and I have zero interest in watching that jerk.

He had a problem because it was sent to Mr. William Jones, and as he pointed out, he couldn't answer it, because that was his father, not him! So she thought about it for a minute, looked closely at the paper, and then said "oh, don't you see, this is to WILLiam Jones, and that's you." And then handed it back to him again. And he just said "oh, ok." And that was that.

227 Yeah, Beckel's heart bleeds for the slaves from 150+ years ago, while Carson has actually done more to improve the lives of children, both a s a neurosurgeon and through his non-profit organization that assists inner-city kids (IIRC) than Beckel ever has.

But one slip of the tongue during a non-scripted moment and Beckel gets to claim superiority over Carson, covering himself in glory for caring more about the slaves than Carson These people are ugly and shameless.

Beckel. Sounds Irish. He might want to look into the Irish slavery angle.

I disagree with how you are framing that.

Yes Carson knows they were slaves. He just didn't call them slaves.

If you like, consider them..."involuntary imigrants."

It sounds nicer than slaves, and lessens the grievance.

And perception is important. Remember when we used the term "illegal alien"? Sounds kinda harsh. So the left worked on softening the language to make them more sympathetic. First it was "undocumented alien", then "undocumented immigrant", then "future American".

And the funny thing is, we gave into that. NO ONE uses the original, accurate term. We just gave it away.

So, I can cut Dr. Carson a pass.

one that immigrates: such as

No matter how someone got to America his descendants reap the benefits of being American ... until the last 8 years when this country did an about-face and pretty much killed itself. Before that, being an American was about the most valuable thing a human could be, as was constantly demonstrated by population flows and, even moreso, by those who were dying to come here but couldn't. 268 My point above is that pound for pound, the NYPD are quite good. The FBI, not so much.

e.g., after the first World Trade bombing in 1993, they had the remains of the truck that was the truck bomb but not much of it left. With a fine disregard for the rules, a young NYPD spirited away the axle from the Feds. You see as a Yute he had worked in his uncle's Brooklyn auto shop and knew there was an extra VIN number inside, which led to the NYPD hanging around a Jersey City rental shop until one of the perps showed up to get his deposit back.

Amazon has very high standards. They tend to hire the very, very best people they can and then work them so hard that they leave in two years.

Advice? There's going to be one person who's not from the org you're interviewing at. He's the 'Bar Raiser' and he has veto power. Need to impress him.
Ask as many good questions as you can, make sure you understand what you're being asked and why.
Passion counts for a lot.
You need to express why you're a better hire than anyone else for the job.
Don't fake it, if you don't know the answer, best to be up front about that BUT then try to answer the question anyway. How you get an answer can be more important than a memorized 'right' answer.

293 A lot of bad sh*t happened in the 1960's with violent protests, riots and such. Omar Masow wrote a paper on how protests (violent and non-violent) can affect voting - maybe it's something:

http://tinyurl.com/j7urvgd

Everything moves in cycles. The leftist craziness will die down, it always does, and then it will rise up again. Also, I don't think George Soros can spend $1B a year funding the loudmouth lunatics (apparently he's spent hundreds of millions this past year). The money will die down, the media will find other shiny things to focus on, the DC Democrats will stop their walk-outs and calm down (they already have to a certain extent - look at the last few confirmation votes with many more Dems quietly voting Yes) - the outrage energy level of the past 4 months is not sustainable. Just look at the Dakota pipeline protests - lot's of media coverage for weeks, now not a whisper (and the "environmentalists" left giant piles of toxic garbage and even abandoned puppies which the media ignored).

There will be a lot of stupid outrage (left and right) for 8 years but if Trump can improve the economy and the job market the outrage will drop significantly. Trump needs a lot of luck too since the government has much less effect on the overall economy than people think it does.

295 164 And as a perfect representative of the left/progressives.

-----------

Jen

I used to watch the Five but people like Becker, Juan Williams and Geraldo have made it unwatchable. Out of all of them, however, Becker is the worst. I honestly think Fox is TRYING to lose voters! Judge Jeannine and Tucker Carlson both say their ratings are good, so it's obvious people want fair news, yet Fox puts losers like Shep and Bob Becker to drive away viewers. So I say that if they don't want viewers, no problem. The only surprising thing IMO is that nobody realizes the huge potential of starting a real "fair and balanced" network.

As several have said, when there is violence commited by a member of the Religion of Peace here in the States, we always hear the Left go on endlessly about their worries of a backlash against Muslims. The lesson this has taught me is that violence works. Am I wrong?

No. If, say, Christian bakers were noted for beheading those who sued them for refusing to bake a cake, that shit would stop right smartly.

What I've put together is that they think of themselves as rational, and thus in control of their urges and emotions. The next step is a reasoned one. They think of the right as irrational, all urges and animus (per Obergefell), and so because we don't think in calm, rational measures, it's easier for them to see us cascading out of control.

Night and Day, isn't it?

299 The only question I have at this point really is irrelevant as to progressive violence. Curiosity, though, compels me to ask whether the left-wing is lying or has so bought into its fantastical Nazi! narrative it doesn't know it is living in an alternative reality. I really can't tell but would like to know for whatever reason. Either is insane and doesn't mitigate the Left's violence, of course, but it is a complete mystery to me.

Progressive violence has escalated in a logical progression, no pun intended. First speech was discouraged. Then speakers were shouted down. Beatings began. Then pepper spray was used. Then sticks pounded Nazis! Then pepper spray, beatings and sticks were used to attack any and all Evil White People who happened to be in the vicinity.

The police only have intervened when the Evil White People have fought back, much as what happens when native Europeans finally lash out at the Muslims who torment them. I'm more interested in the state agents siding with the hooligans than with the reporters, producers and editors who support their tribe's mayhem. The Evil White People in America soon will start to defend themselves with their firearms. How law enforcement responds will determine when the cold civil war becomes red hot, because the armed Evil White People will decide, correctly, the officers are legitimate targets as well.

It's depressing as hell but utterly predictable. I'm certain we'll win in the end but this is so needless. The only ones who can end this coming clash are the ones who don't want to stop although they themselves will feel the blows, bleed, die and lose.

The National Divorce cannot happen soon enough but will it happen in time? It doesn't seem so.

Antifa/Black Bloc are clearly off-the-books enforcers of official government policy, both in Europe and America. Open Borders is the policy of the governments involved, and Antifa/Black Bloc only seem to be deployed against those who insist on national sovereignty.

It is for this reason that I call them the shock troops of the New World Order.

Subconsciously, they know they're lying.

304 The uncivil war has already begun.

Propaganda? check.
Probing attacks? check
Small skirmishes? check
Bloodshed? check

The left already has foot soldiers engaged in violence against the right( or anyone perceived to be to the right of Mao) while the right, for the most part, believe this crap is just about Trump and primarily on college campuses.
The college kid that just ran up and assaulted someone isn't a fluke. He is a soldier. He has already proven that violence is a viable option while the righty he attacked is waiting for the cops to rescue him. The cops that keep not helping. This war has started and we're losing the early battles.

Just my useless .02

Not to worry. That's been the case for most of America's wars.

306 My understanding is that the antifa/black block types have been used in Europe for years to attack any pro nationalist protests in there. They seem to be the globalists' shock troops, probably soon to be reinforced by all the wonderful muslim male immigrant "children" of fighting age. I bet.

I'm trying to recall when the antifa/black bloc types first appeared in the United States. The first similar group or groups were around Portland and Seattle and were anarchists who were decisively anti-globalism, quite different in that regard.

I agree antifa represent the shock troops of the globalist utopians, though. Also agreed the imported Muslims are meant to serve a similar function, which is to instill fear in native populations and dilute its power over time.

309 61 David letterman can joke about Palin's underage daughter getting raped without consequences. I still don't know why after the election was over, Todd Palin didn't publicly tell Letterman he was going to beat his ass if he didn't provide a sincere apology.
