The National Laughingstock: The Fact That Trump Won't Talk to Our Blatantly Biased Prog Rag Should "Terrify You"

Obama's war on the press, bringing in the NSA to snoop on reporters writing critically about him, wasn't terrifying.

But the fact that Trump is freezing out the National Laughingstock -- which even the CEO of NPR thinks looks like a liberal mirror-image of Breitbart -- is "terrifying."

But the National Laughingstock feels the sting of a diminishment of its social position and privilege, and is going to whine about it some onw:

Donald Trump is freezing out the mainstream media. That should terrify you.

By Chris Cillizza February 15 at 1:51 PM

President Trump has held three news conferences with foreign leaders over the last several weeks. The traditional format for these events is that the U.S. press gets two questions and the foreign press gets two. That's it.

Here are the U.S. news organizations Trump has called on for questions in each of those three pressers:

Shinzo Abe/Donald Trump (Feb. 10)

NY Post
Fox

Justin Trudeau/Donald Trump (Feb. 13)

ABC 7 (Sinclair)
Daily Caller

Benjamin Netanyahu/Donald Trump (Feb. 15)

Christian Broadcasting Network
Townhall

All six of those outlets are conservative or conservative leaning. In the case of the last two news conference -- Feb. 13 and 15 -- none of the questions asked were about Michael Flynn, the recently departed national security adviser, or the recent revelations regarding the regular contact between the Trump campaign and Russian intelligence officials....

Now. Simply because all six of the media outlets that Trump has called on of late have varying degrees of conservative bent doesn't mean their reporters aren't serious and good journalists. But, there is a difference in taking questions from outlets with a partisan lean and taking them from mainstream media outlets who are absolutely committed to playing it straight.

You've got to be fucking kidding me right now with this shit.

...

That's a very dangerous precedent -- and should worry you whether you voted for Trump, voted for Hillary Clinton or didn't vote at all in the 2016 election. Why? Because the partisan press is not the same thing as the free and independent press....

Holy shit, you were serious.

Hate Trump or love him, the idea that he is purposely freezing out mainstream media reporters because he doesn't like the sort of questions they ask is chilling. Down that path lies nothing good for journalism -- or democracy.

But all hail the Deep State for doing its patriotic duty of leaking classified foreign intercepts to the media.

29 This reminds me of when the NAACP put out an anti-Bush ad during the 2000 campaign linking him to the dragging death of James Byrd, Jr., even though Bush signed the execution warrants for the two murderers when he was governor of Texas. The NAACP then turned around and attacked him when he declined to attend their national convention that year.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't, which is why there can never be any compromising with any of these people ever again. As long as WAPO continues functioning as part of the democrat/media industrial complex, Trump and every other Republican must continue telling them to pound sand.

Dunno. Something needs to be done because they've been out of control for so long and it's only getting worse. It's getting so bad someone is going to kill some of these people.

There's no accountability and that's a problem. Other countries they're controlled by the government which obviously isn't a solution. What a mess.

155 Reporters are like 6 year olds, as has been observed here often.

Now they are having screaming mimi temper tantrums over not getting questions.

They do not accept that they are not getting questions because1. The questions are not intellectual curiosity, in an attempt to inform the public, but are a set up to trap the interviewee into reversing a statement or recalling something incorrectly, that can then be used daily to attempt to force said interviewee out or ruin reputation.

2. Just like a six year old, or actually a 3 year old, they ask the same question over and over, trying to phrase it slightly different or outright challenging the administration to prove what they are saying is factual or true. And if that proof is offered, to then challenge that proof as being , uh, proved. Or it will be denied by the press regardless of how factual or demonstrable it is.

It's a game, they aren't journalists and they are not out to inform or bring "sunshine" on the government. They are simply there as apparatchiks to harm it.

I had a brief moment in which I wondered whether the transcripts coming out of the Obamanauts in the intelligence agencies actually contained what Flynn had said verbatim, or, whether they contained manufactured quotes which Flynn hadn't actually said.

Recall that we're dealing with people who took professional political operatives with no medical background, and dressed them up in white coats and stethoscopes, and sent them out to rallies to pose as licensed medical doctors, to tell the attendees how wonderful Obamacare was going to be.

They really do not think it beneath them to just make shit up.

195 This reminds me of when the NAACP put out an anti-Bush ad during the 2000 campaign linking him to the dragging death of James Byrd, Jr., even though Bush signed the execution warrants for the two murderers when he was governor of Texas.

Posted by: Sirius the Canine Pundit at February 16, 2017 01:19 PM (LBO1U)

Quite right. Not only that, but that whole James Byrd story was a classic case of "fake news" anyway. The media played it up as the usual "evil white Texans killing those po black folk" story.

Problem was, a local Houston TV station, very early on, let slip what really happened in that case. The local law enforcement up in Jasper caught the perps in short order, and at least two of them spilled their guts on what happened very quickly. And it was NOT as the media later portrayed it. That is, as simply three white rednecks spotting some random black man walking down the road and deciding "Hey, let's drag him behind our truck until he dies".

The truth was that at least one of the guys in the truck knew James Byrd, from when they were both in prison together. And there was bad blood between them. It was by no means simply a random killing.

But that story was suppressed in short order because it did not "fit the Narrative".

Just the same, one of the perps has already been executed, another is awaiting his date with the needle after his appeals run their course, and the third was sentenced to life in prison, so it is not like justice was not meted out to these lowlifes.

263 I had a brief moment in which I wondered whether the transcripts coming out of the Obamanauts in the intelligence agencies actually contained what Flynn had said verbatim, or, whether they contained manufactured quotes which Flynn hadn't actually said.

Recall that we're dealing with people who took professional political operatives with no medical background, and dressed them up in white coats and stethoscopes, and sent them out to rallies to pose as licensed medical doctors, to tell the attendees how wonderful Obamacare was going to be.

torque

I tried to go to the Daily Caller and get the quote there but copying it from there is a bitch.

So they were referencing Eli Lake's article at Bloomberg--which I could copy and paste.

Here:

A better explanation here is that Flynn was just thrown under the bus. His tenure as national security adviser, the briefest in U.S. history, was rocky from the start. When Flynn was attacked in the media for his ties to Russia, he was not allowed by the White House to defend himself. Over the weekend, he was instructed not to speak to the press when he was in the fight for his political life. His staff was not even allowed to review the transcripts of his call to the Russian ambassador.

So--I might have over read that. I was up late last night.

His staff was not allowed to read the transcripts but I think I am wrong when I misread it as HE wasn't even allowed to read it.

Still the point stands--initially--before it was leaked and talked about all over the media--very few people should have had access to it.

Meanwhile, average Americans are chortling at this because they think the media is packed full of lying scrunts and nancy boys who wet their pants at a non-supine response. Trump is not talking to the media in these pressers, he's talking to the people who hold the media in contempt.

TR was a sickly child who turned himself into an actual tough guy. Besides the Rough Riders he was a Montana rancher who went out catching bad guys when he had to. Spent his post-Presidency doing Amazon safaris in unmapped territories.

It also put Trump in the position that if he does have to get hard with Russia he can honestly say he tried for peace. I think that is a winning position with average Americans.

The Neo-Con position was always a hard sale to average Americans who never heard of half of the places in this world they obsessed over. I am also glad to see the Progs take up the Neo-Con foreign policy position too...it will work as well for them as it did for the Neo-Cons.

The American Fake News Media is essentially government controlled anyway. In Europe it is formally by the bureaucracy, and in the US informally controlled by the bureaucracy.

One quick fix - make it a felony for anyone in the government to speak with a reporter off record. And then start imprisoning people for it.

If Senior Bureaucrat Smith feels the need to tell the NYT that Trump is holding seances to bring back the ghost of Huey Long, let's see his name associated with the accusation.

I threw that theory out before he took office.

It's obvious that he's just a magnet for press attention, and the normal caterwauling over actions of Congress were absent. With even a President Cruz (who I think would have been a great president), we'd see a whole lot more attention on what's going on with Congress. With Trump in the White House, it's very likely, almost certain, that we'll see more a more emboldened Congress as they keep doing things without the normal level of blowback that they might expect.

The townhalls would seem to be an indication of the opposite direction, though.

We shall see.

714 651 Just noticed on Drudge that Boy George is excusing himself for imprisoning a male escort with "I was having a psychotic episode."

I saw Boy George with Milo (a very young, dark haired Milo) on some Brit talk show. Milo said he wasn't in favor of a gay marriage even though he's gay. Milo also said that if he could chose to be straight, he would be because he'd to be married and have kids and he didn't think it would be fair to a kid to have two gay parents. Boy George talked down to Milo in the most condescending way, "I'm so sorry you hate yourself, Milo...."

Well, Georgie, at least Milo hasn't had an psychotic episode. I hope to hell Boy George doesn't have kids.

I get many solicitations for political contributions. I shall only respond to explicitly Trump ones. RNC et al can go to Trump for money. It will help them to remember which team they're on.

In my mind I see St Nick with a Golden Scalp Weasel. I see America Fuck Yeah stuffing cash into his sled, I see good Goppies receiving showers of cashly campaign love, I see Snowe, Murkowski, McCain, and Graham starving in the snow.

Lyin' Ryan and Mitch the Bitch watch thoughtfully.

If we can ignite this meme we set PDJT up for a black-knighting coup.

He stands in the bully pulpit and tell America Fuck Yeah that this hate for the GOPe is just deplorable, that they should trust the GOPe just as much as he does! And by this stage, he doesn't even need to wink.

Hilarity ensues.

Trump is not brainwashed and is not a victim of conditioning. This is why he is successful and an individual. He adapts. And he fights back.

Maybe a revised fairness doctrine. You want to take advantage of the public airwaves (FCC) or the First Amendment, you have to hire equal representation of all political parties. 30% Democrats, 30% Independents, 30% Republican, 5% Green, etc. - In ALL departments, not just reporters, but editors, management, board members, etc. Or you have to have more than one entity - one each for the 3 major groups.
