Polls: Majority Thinks Trump is a "Strong and Decisive Leader" Who "Keeps His Promises;" Public Supports Ending Sanctuary Cities and Deporting Criminals -- Including Hispanics

A Gallup poll released Monday found clear majorities of Americans believe President Trump "keeps his promises, is a strong and decisive leader, and can bring about changes the country needs." When asked to evaluate whether the phrase "keeps his promises" applies to Trump, 62 percent of respondents responded affirmatively. Fifty-nine percent replied affirmatively when questioned on whether he is a "strong and decisive leader" and 53 percent agreed that he "can bring about the change this country needs."And it turns out that despite the claims of the DC Overclass like Bill Kristol, border enforcement, far from being an election-loser, is popular.

More: "Trump voters approved 93 percent to 4 percent, but Clinton voters also approved 53 percent to 35 percent. Republicans gave near unanimous support 92 percent to 6 percent; independents 66 percent to 18 percent, and Democrats approved 50 percent to 37 percent. The majority of Hispanic voters also approved the deportation of criminal illegal immigrants 56 percent to 31 percent." ... On cutting off federal grants to sanctuary cities, 46 percent of Hispanic voters agreed, 43 percent opposed. Overall, the margin was 59 percent support to 29 percent oppose.

It's been climbing since last summer but the pace seems to have picked up or at worst continued it's ascent since Trump won. Still a big deficit but it's closing.
I don't expect Trump to ever be super popular, country is way to polarized. But he could end up the polar opposite of Obama who was personally popular while his policies were not.

Trump is at negative 3% with an adverse trend, which is cause for concern, but not alarming.

583 I got to the hospital today, Vic's nasal tube had been taken out. They also took out his catheter and removed the heart monitor today! He actually got to have one of his two daily bottles of concentrated juice.
I left early and went to the Moon Pie General Store. Since it was right there, I also went through the open air market. They have so many pretty things. Too bad I don't have unlimited funds!
I was able to get back to the room much earlier than usual, so I'll have a laid back evening.

I think deep down they know this, but they want to have their Cheap Labor cake and eat it, too.
They experience illegal aliens like their gardeners and maids--deferential, obedient, exotic, and cheap. They pay them less than their kids make interning at one of their "think tanks".
They never go to the Barrio slums that emerge from such policies. Their kids don't go to overcrowded (at best) public schools, and dumbed down and now full of ethnic gangs (at worst). They never look at the public hospital emergency room.

Another thing, ace. How does this popularity of Trump policies (incl. some of the most "controversial!" ones) square with an approval rating of 40%, also from Gallup?
Recall the affirmative action idiot had approvals in mid 50s, while his main policies were lucky to get 30% approval, towards the end. That "disconnection" was easily attributable to racism/celebrity/LIV behavior and mindsets. The disconnect in favor of Teh Donald's policies yet against his overall popularity is harder to figure.

One thing's for sure: one of the many serious unaddressed disasters of the Bush years was the mutiny and criminality of elements in the intel community, that went unpunished.
Recall the two huge surveillance program leaks. "Leaks" is such a benign, misleading term in such cases - how about felonious revelation of highly sensitive surveillance programs that were literally yielding life-saving and battle-changing information, in war-time?
The sort of thing that, generally, without exaggeration, resulted in execution in all times prior to present day. THAT serious.
I still can't believe that Dubya, at the time of crimes, didn't have every single person on the very limited need-to-know list detained and polygraphed and scared to an inch of their lives.
And that's the key today, as many said in the thread below. The massive, unprecedented crimes under the Espionage Act at State under Obama are now being followed by comparable crimes directed against a new administration. That administration had better treat it like the criminal mutiny that it is.
Their own interests of course call for it. But it's to the point that the country's very institutions are going to be swallowed up by lawlessness of this nature, at this level.

Which is why I've found the Rasmussen poll cited above as the best at gauging actual sentiment. Only Strong Approve and Strong Disapprove are counted from a sample of regular voters. Obama spent most of his eight years at negative 20% or below

Just a guess, but I think he's fine with that, as long as he accomplishes his goals. And, of course - unlike seemingly most of the political class, esp. the GOP Beltway set - he understands the way to true "popularity" is governing well.
