---------------------- Too late, the democrat party has already defined the rules. The GOP can chose to play by those rules, or do something outside the democrat defined rules. If the GOP decide to not play the democrat party game, that is an escalation in the power struggle, and the democrats take it to the next level. That is the way politics have been played my entire life. The democrats/media make the rules, and the GOP play the game. Now Trump could decide he isn't going to play by those rules. It appears from reading Senate Rule 26 that no Democrats are required at the committee hearings. It is a courtesy only.
"7. (a)(1) Except as provided in this paragraph, each committee, and each subcommittee thereof is authorized to fix the number of its members (but not less than one-third of its entire membership) who shall constitute a quorum thereof for the transaction of such business as may be considered by said committee, except that no measure or matter or recommendation shall be reported from any committee unless a majority of the committee were physically present. (2) Each such committee, or subcommittee, is authorized to fix a lesser number than one-third of its entire membership who shall constitute a quorum thereof for the purpose of taking sworn testimony. (3) The vote of any committee to report a measure or matter shall require the concurrence of a majority of the members of the committee who are present. No vote of any member of any committee to report a measure or matter may be cast by proxy if rules adopted by such committee forbid the casting of votes for that purpose by proxy; however, proxies may not be voted when the absent committee member has not been informed of the matter on which he is being recorded and has not affirmatively requested that he be so recorded. Action by any committee in reporting any measure or matter in accordance with the requirements of this subparagraph shall constitute the ratification by the committee of all action theretofore taken by the committee with respect to that measure or matter, including votes taken upon the measure or matter or any amendment thereto, and no point of order shall lie with respect to that measure or matter on the ground that such previous action with respect thereto by such committee was not taken in compliance with such requirements." I think Trump needs to start closing down lots of segments of the government because of the failure to get integral people to perform his necessary duties confirmed - I would start with HUD and the DOE and also close down all immigration services, EPA enforcement, Obamacare payments, treasury payments to congressmen and their staff, and essentially all government segments and payments to government workers except defense, social security/, national parks and security - sort of a reverse Obama - see how long Congress holds out. Just have Trump say the following: "sorry - cannot really make any payments without a Treasury Department can I? And I cannot, thanks to people like Sally Yates and the rest of the Anti-American Obama saboteurs in government, trust that the people's interests are being protected. Therefore, the senate democrats who are endangering the welfare of this country and its people have forced me to take this drastic action. Please contact your local US representative and senator to put a stop to this dangerous activity which is placed all of our safety and welfare at risk. That is all. Have the Democrats realized that if they don't approve Trump's nominees, then according to the Constitution (Article II Section 1) he has the power to directly, without agency heads, wield the executive power of the US Government?
In fact, all executive power wielded by Secretaries of the various departments actually belongs to the President, per the Constitution. The Constitution does not *require* a President to appoint department heads. It assumes that they will exist . . . but it also assumes the Senate will do it's job. What the Democrats are doing is, in essence, provoking a Constitutional Crisis unless McConnell snuffs it out by going "nuclear." Posted by: filbert at January 31, 2017 03:16 PM (s5o+q) 376

Hahahaha.
Over at the Washington Free Beacon, there's this: "Concerned members of the media claim that President Donald Trumpis abusingthem psychologicallyin orderto drive them insane, the Washington Free Beacon has learned." "Is Donald Trump gaslighting us?" asked CNN correspondentBrian Stelter. "Does he know what gaslighting means?" hahaha I just read a very informative book about gaslighting because it recently happened to me. Basically it's someone trying to convince you that their subjective reality is YOUR objective reality. Case in point: A few months ago, a close friend called me late one evening. I had been out of town for a few days and I was exhausted and stressed. He then started to tell me what to do in regards to something I mentioned, and then started getting really angry. So I said I want to have something to eat, since I hadn't eaten most of the day (it was close to midnight) and cut the conversation short. His version? I hung up on him, which he will NEVER forgive. That didn't happen. I tried to salvage the relationship, and even apologized-- mostly for not letting myself get yelled at-- but it was to no avail. That was three months ago. I've heard from him once via email, and was so disturbed by his statements and views that I've just walked away and initiated a no contact rule. And I do not regret it. Right now, the media is my former friend. They are screaming "why won't you accept that my way is the right way! If I say the sky is neon purple, you need to BELIEVE that it's neon purple! I'm always right." They are gaslighting, but, like my former friend, are refusing to take responsibility for their own actions and instead are playing the victim. As I and many other fellow Badgers have written here, this is the Act 10 protests on a national scale. Nothing new here, and it's likely to get worse. The only result is the same as we've experienced here. Republicans will increase their margins and solidify control in the next election. The Dems will continue to be marginalized and become increasingly shrill, if that's possible. Keep calm and carry on.

In 2003 the Texas House Democrats walked out of the House, to deny a quorum because they disagreed with the House agenda. (This was the first time in 130 that the Republicans were the majority and could set the agenda.) The House sent the Texas Rangers to round them up, but they fled to Oklahoma to escape the jurisdiction.
Later that year, Texas Senate Democrats fled to New Mexico over the same issues and for the same reasons. In 2011 Wisconsin Democrats pulled the same stunt, fleeing to Illinois to deny Gov. Walker a quorum. Again in 2011, the Indiana Democrats copied these antics, also fleeing to Illinois. Now that this has become S.O.P. in the Democrat playbook, can McConnell or Pence send the US Marshals after them, to compel their attendance?
