Human Rights Watch Declares Donald Trump a Threat to Human Rights

"No comment," said a drone-bomb President Really Good at Kill-Lists ordered to kill an American citizen.

I don't really care about that much, but shouldn't these lunatics?

[A]ccording to HRW, anyone who supports repeal of Obamacare or is pro-life is a threat to human rights. Good to know. Meanwhile, the report eventually gets to the U.S. use of drones. President Obama, who approves every target and is therefore directly responsible for the loss of life described here, barely gets a mention, much less a scolding...

They bring that up as an avenue of threat that Donald Trump presents, without actually saying much about the guy who bragged about being really good at drawing up kill-lists.

55 Speaking of repealing Obamacare I think I found Bill Wynn:

At a CNN town hall Thursday night, Jeff Jeans, of Sedona, Ariz., told Paul Ryan that he was a lifelong Republican and a small-business owner who had previously worked for President Ronald Reagan and President George Bush. Jeans said he was initially adamantly against Obamacare.

Jeans recalled how he was diagnosed with a "very curable type of cancer" at 49, and told he only had six weeks to live. He was denied treatment, he continued, because he didn't have an insurance card - even though he offered to pay three times the cost.

"Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, I'm standing here today, alive," he said.

"I want to thank President Obama from the bottom of my heart, because I would be dead if it weren't for him," Jeans said, receiving applause from the audience.

Isn't it odd how they have been Republicans since Lincoln but Republicans are the worst thing ever and Barry the greatest? What kind of very curable cancer has you dead in 6 weeks?

A well-respected British diplomat gave McCain a heads-up, vouching for the report published by the Weekly World News. McCain dispatched a key aid to a undisclosed Baltimore Wal-Mart who was able to secure the report in a check-out line. "As a citizen concerned about national security, I immediately sent the 35 page document to NASA and the FBI to verify these facts. This is very troubling. 78 Abortion isn't a human right, neither is getting someone else to pay for something you need. Human rights don't involve forcing people to do things. For instance, if no one was willing to give an abortion, if abortion itself were a right to assure it the state would have to coerce someone into giving one. This is clearly wrong. Cheapening human rights by broadening them to cover everything is far more of a threat. If you have a right to a house, job, car, and healthcare, the government isn't going to feel that bad about taking away your right to complain about all those other rights it suddenly isn't able to fill.

Which is to say if the human rights watch was serious about its titled purpose, wouldn't they have several pages devoted to self loathing due to how terrible they are?

It's a sliding scale, I think.

At the top are mostly those who don't believe anything but will say anything to acquire more power.

The further you go down the hierarchy, the more believers you acquire and the fewer power mad freaks you retain.

At the bottom it's pretty much all true believers.

For example, I do not believe that Nancy Pelosi thinks that allowing bakers to say no to gay couples is the same as Jim Crow. Those who rally and vote for her and donate $20 whenever they can for her very well might.

===================

I amend my take:

Kamala Harris could be a true believer, and true believers are becoming more common in the upper echelons of the left. But I think, when it comes to battier things like gay cakes, it's largely just a front in support of increasing political power.

Not to mean that they don't believe anything. I'd be shocked if someone like Pelosi didn't actually believe that socialized medicine was fantastic. It also just happens to feed the desire for more centralized power. Coincidence in that regard.

Posted by: TheJamesMadison at January 13, 2017 03:54 PM (zdM/+)

97 >>Abortion isn't a human right, neither is getting someone else to pay for something you need.

But this is exactly what the liberal strategy for expanding government was built on. If you read the book byRobert Creamer's, the real architect of Obamacare and Obama's amnesty programs, about how to implement these programs, the first step was to convince people that these things were indeed about human rights. If you have a right to health insurance, how could anyone not support government providing it for free?

Once you get over that hump it's just a matter of defining what the programs will look like.

A political and cultural system by which some elements of the right (cultural tradition, respect for the military, and nationalism) are combined with many elements of the left (central government control of the economy in cooperation with the largest corporations, heavy regulation of business, elimination of religion, etc) in an attempt to find a "third way". Science is heavily emphasized, with Darwinism as a guide for cultural and social structure as well as eugenics for purity of humanity. Fascist proponents consider their system to be the most scientific and proper way of ordering humanity to a better future.

Ironically, I wonder if the constant "NAZI!" shouting by the left hasn't pushed Trump farther to the right than he otherwise would be - not because he's an ideologue, but because "f you!" And also because he's seeing what the left is.

Everyone wants money for nothing. The reason we can't just give everyone a trillion dollar coin is because we don't have infinite resources.

I've found members of the left and the GOPe are very good at justifying their handouts and arguing that handouts for others are bad.

Traditionally the check on this graft model of government is that the taxpayers elect the people and government and will because of their own self interest kick out elected officials when said officials and their clients get too greedy.

That hasn't happened primarily because the government has gotten VERY good at hiding how much they are spending on handouts and how much they are taking in taxes and other means.

But we are reaching the end of the ability of the government to do that and we are going to have to start cutting off large segments of the dependent class.

I didn't want to push that too far, because the Falangists, for instance in Spain, weren't too big on Darwinism per se. They presented themselves as sort of super Catholics, even.

====================

Relating this to the Democratic Party specifically, I think that the standard wisdom on the left right now is that doubling down on identity politics and the inherent tactics of that outlook is the best key to future success. I think that this is because they approached this election as in the bag, and they've been caught completely flat footed by Trump's win. They've had no time to process what could possibly have gone wrong, and with the constant news cycle, and their obsession with winning it/undermining Trump at every turn, they're not going to have time to process it for a while.

I think this will continue into the 2020 cycle no matter what happens in 2018. If they give up a 60+ supermajority to Republicans, it'll leave only the craziest of the crazies in charge. If they squeak by with a shockingly good night and Republicans only come away with a 54-55 seat majority, the left will be convinced that their identity politics method still works.

The only thing that could possibly wake some of them up is a loss in 2020. What happens afterwards I, of course, don't know, but I'd expect a very large and public airing of grievances akin to what Republicans went through from 2008 to now.

254 If what I described as Fascism sounds awfully familiar, that's because it is. Aside from the military, tradition, and nationalism, its exactly what Barry O'bama was trying to do, and largely did. There's no such thing as Crony Capitalism. When the crony part comes in, it just becomes fascism, as big business writes laws along with government to help them and destroy competition.

When the Nazis took over Austria, they passed so many regulations that small cafes had to have a certain shape and kind of table to stay open. Nobody on the left wants to hear that now.

"They outlaws trade unions!!!!" Yeah, so did the Soviet Union. because they are competition for the government and claim they've created the worker's paradise, so the unions are unnecessary.

It's The Borg -- the unholy alliance of BigGov, MSM and Academia, which is melding. Some BigBiz industries are already a part of the this, and are increasingly aligning with the Cultural Left. Many media outlets are owned companies already part of The Borg.

There's an Internationalist element to The Borg, which is growing. Which is why there's a connection between Brexit and Trump's win, both huge setbacks for The Borg.

The face of The Borg is Nurse Ratched. The end is to have everything run by a big politically correct HR department.

It's not that just that some members of The Borg are more equal than others. It's that The Borg disdains many Americans -- what Hillary let slip with her Deplorable Irredeemable remark.

I've been wondering how the woman who orchestrated that majority could be so inept now.

However, I think you're taking a national view to very local elections. I'm betting that there are a fair number of conservative Democrats in some swingy districts who could be pushed into running. State senators, prominent business people, mayors.

That would require the national party allowing heterodox views from swing district Democrats, which seems to be something that they won't do but they always could turn around and say, "We need something more than the northeast and California, and we have to allow Ohio type Democrats in Ohio."

Or more precisely: would you trust an Obama Appointed General with YOUR life?

I don't trust anyone with my life, except me and God;-)

Agreed, it is novel that he's calling them out for being embarrassments. Not holding my breath for them catching on, but one of, ostensibly, their own, holding up a mirror and saying "see this? this is how dumb you look" is rather refreshing.

309 " In 2006 she targeted R districts that could be won by a moderate D, AKA blue dog dems. "

Nancy parlayed Bush hatred in 2006, which was genuine because many believed that he fucked up with Iraq.

Ds have no opening if Trump doesn't fuck up.

Ds huge weakness is that they're Democratic in name only. There's an Inner Party of a few key politicians, money people like Soros, and the Players like Podesta who call the shots. Might be fewer than 100.

I believe he was appointed by Dubya, and that Barky failed to fire him, perhaps because Barky is concerned with his own safety, and wanted a competent guy to run the DC national Guard.

314 However, I think you're taking a national view to very local elections. I'm betting that there are a fair number of conservative Democrats in some swingy districts who could be pushed into running. State senators, prominent business people, mayors.

--------------------

Nationalize the local elections is how Gingrich did it in 94 and Pelosy did it in 06. I see what you're saying, but we didn't have twitter in 06. Nothing is local anymore.

I've been wondering how the woman who orchestrated that majority could be so inept now.

Because it was essentially handed to her after the 2004 presidential election.

318 I didn't want to push that too far, because the Falangists, for instance
in Spain, weren't too big on Darwinism per se. They presented
themselves as sort of super Catholics, even.

Because in Spain the Falangists were a reaction to their local leftists trying to destroy the Catholic Church and anyone that had a traditionalist outlook.

The leftist government was beating people in the streets, and in some cases murdering them.

The sort of reaction they got wasn't really surprising, though frankly they lucked compared to what was going on in the rest of Europe by various revolutions, counter revolutions, and changes of power...

Trump had to overcome a lot of inertia from reluctant voters. The next election he wont have that problem. All he has to do is make good on his promises.

If does that it, a 2nd term should be in the cards.

What Trump says will happen juxtaposed to a general getting fired in the here and now is far far different, IMHO.

Yeah, the effort between 2004 and 2006 to give the government to the Ds was amazing.

If you took someone from say 2003 and transported them to 2007 I don't think they could have believed the changes.

Pelosi didn't really do much of the heavy lifting - that was more Soros, Stewart, the Saudis, and a number of other nefarious parties.

Maaaaybe a melanoma if it hasn't gone beyond the skin. Though I think they have a treatment that will keep you alive longer.

But that stuff about a hospital that won't take cash, particularly in a non-emergency situation? That would be Sacred Heart of Imaginary Bullshit.
