Firm Behind Trump Dossier Also Claimed Planned Parenthood Sting Videos Were Deceptively Edited

A firm that Democrats pay to say whatever Democrats need an "expert" to say to their media friends.

Mark Hemingway at the WS:

That's not all Fusion GPS has been up to in recent years. In 2015, Planned Parenthood was stung by a video expose that detailed its involvement in human organ trafficking—organs harvested from the bodies obtained after abortions. Those behind the expose, David Daleiden and the Center for Medical Progress, knew they would be severely scrutinized so they released dozens of hours of raw footage that their documentary evidence was culled from to show that their reports had not been selectively edited. Nor were they misrepresenting the shocking statements of Planned Parenthood officials.

Nonetheless, Planned Parenthood produced a "forensic report" concluding that the videos had in fact been manipulated. The author of that report was none other than Fusion GPS. If you bothered to read the details of Fusion GPS's report it made some damning concessions, even admitting there was no "widespread evidence of substantive video manipulation." But overall, the report was calculated to be misleading and was nothing but an underhanded PR stunt for Planned Parenthood.

13 I voted for Trump, I'm delighted he won, I expect him to do great things, and I worry about his safety - but I'm not going to worship him
like the Obamabots do Barry. He's a man with plenty of flaws, not a god. Let the left idolize their politicians.

Whereas, I'm cautiously optimistic at best. I'm still not a Trump fan, but I very much like most of his cabinet picks.

14 Way back in the way back, we hired a member of the American Appraisal Institute to value some real property in an eminent domain case. The folks on the other side of the case also had a real estate expert to offer his opinion of the value of the property in question.

Both experts had the designation "MAI" on their credentials. That stands for Member of the Appraisal Institute. Both joked that MAI also stood for "made as instructed".

"Experts" like Fusion are simply members of the world's second oldest profession. And they'll assume any position you want--maybe even offer you a "golden shower" if you have enough gold.

There was a Hustler cartoon years back showing three men sitting at a bar. The bartender had clambered up on top of the bar, her skirt hiked up to her waist and was "showering" one of the men.

Pubic Access TV--I like that. 8D

While Uncle Ron could not do it in the 1980s, might the technology changes of the last 30 odd years make it much easier for Trump and for Real Republicans to do it?

95 Republicans already have a bill to pull all public funding from PP and give it to other organizations who don't perform abortions. It's brilliant actually, because it arbitrages the argument they are pulling funds from women's health. The only thing it does is get rid of any organization performing abortions.

They're done. And congress has the votes to pass it because it's a spending issue requiring a simple majority.

Can the Congress create a law which limits who the President can pick for their Cabinet...

And can a prior Congress create a law which limits their OWN Advise and Consent Power in the Constitution?
Posted by: Don Quixote at January 12, 2017 11:57 AM (qf6WZ)
---------------------------------
I think they probably can do the latter. That is, they can create a law binding their OWN behavior. They've done that from the beginning.

But such a law has no permanent or Constitutional force. It can be waived or repealed at will by the next Congress.

theae organizations use to play the long game. They would anticipate a change in party and try to work the issues through those transitions.

But organizations like PP blew it. They counted on Democrats, the media and left leaning Republicans to pull them out of the entire scandal around selling baby parts. I
also kept the faith and thought he could do it. I agree that
"Pussygate" was planned well in advance initially - however - and I
pointed this out at the time - it was deployed way earlier that
Hillzebub's team wanted to. When she had her transient ischemic episode,
or mini stroke, and flopped around like a Bowery bum hitting the
pavement after an all night bender and had to be man handled into her
van like a farmhand hauling a bail of hay into the upper loft, her polls
started dropping and she had to deploy the Pussygate "October surprise"
way earlier. Once Trump withstood it - and the piler-ons started making
the initial claims seem out of proportion at best and untrue, made-up,
BS at worst
(Remember the one who came forward with a complaint like:
"I was at the US Open, in a crowd, and I felt someone brush against me
from behind - I turned around and I saw Trump nearby - the horror!" or
the other idiot from the Miss Universe Pageant who said something like
"Trump (The Producer of the damn thing) came backstage to the dressing
rooms . First the chaperones came in to give us a warning, then Trump
came in" So? - so f*cking what ? The producer of the show came
backstage to the dressing rooms - that happens all the time, babe - don't
like it don't be in show biz!) Anyway - people began to tune that sh*t
out and realize that the fix was in between the MSM (Or Democratic Party
operatives - but I am being redundant) and the Hillzebub campaign. And
if there is one thing Americans do NOT like - it is a fixed
fight - we value fair play more than, I think, most people in politics
or the media understand, since they have been out of touch with real
Americans for a long, long time. Anyway - never gave up the faith - and
tried to encourage everyone here to not listen to the polls (which I
also argued did not seem to be picking up on clear movement towards a
"change" or "shake things up" posture). That being said - I was on pins
and needles until Florida was called. Then I had hope - then when
Wisconsin was called I knew it was over - MI and PA - MMmmmm icing on
the cake.

Remember - never give up hope - even if you are in a
deep blue state - VOTE!! Next time I do not want these a-holes to have
this - "bb-bbutut Demzebub candidate won the popular vote" BS - which
just means they ran up the score in LA, NY and Chicago. Take those hell-holes out and Trump won - won by a whole lot - and won everywhere.

I'd like to see the tax code reformed with respect to "non profits" and people getting a tax break when they donate to organization like PBS, NPR or Planned Parenthood.

These are POLITICAL organizations that Democrats get to write off on their taxes when they make donations.

It would be like donating to Sean Hannity's show and getting a tax break.

A kabuki bill everyone knows is not going to pass is much easier to put your name on then one that actually will pass and have an effect.

Trump is not a solid, free market conservative on an issue like health care but I do give him credit that I think he has the fortitude to get past the media scaring him.

I think a Kasich or Jeb would have done something spineless like repeal ObamaCare with something like an 8 year drawdown that would not be on their watch.

I am the very model of a modern Major-General,
I've information vegetable, animal, and mineral,
I know the kings of England, and I quote the fights historical
From Marathon to Waterloo, in order categorical;
I'm very well acquainted, too, with matters mathematical,
I understand equations, both the simple and quadratical,
About binomial theorem I'm teeming with a lot o' news,
With many cheerful facts about the square of the hypotenuse.
I'm very good at integral and differential calculus;
I know the scientific names of beings animalculous:
In short, in matters vegetable, animal, and mineral,
I am the very model of a modern Major-General.
I know our mythic history, King Arthur's and Sir Caradoc's;
I answer hard acrostics, I've a pretty taste for paradox,
I quote in elegiacs all the crimes of Heliogabalus,
In conics I can floor peculiarities parabolous;
I can tell undoubted Raphaels from Gerard Dows and Zoffanies,
I know the croaking chorus from The Frogs of Aristophanes!
Then I can hum a fugue of which I've heard the music's din afore,
And whistle all the airs from that infernal nonsense Pinafore.
Then I can write a washing bill in Babylonic cuneiform,
And tell you ev'ry detail of Caractacus's uniform:
In short, in matters vegetable, animal, and mineral,
I am the very model of a modern Major-General.
In fact, when I know what is meant by "mamelon" and "ravelin",
When I can tell at sight a Mauser rifle from a Javelin,
When such affairs as sorties and surprises I'm more wary at,
And when I know precisely what is meant by "commissariat"
When I have learnt what progress has been made in modern gunnery,
When I know more of tactics than a novice in a nunnery
In short, when I've a smattering of elemental strategy
You'll say a better Major-General has never sat a gee.
For my military knowledge, though I'm plucky and adventury,
Has only been brought down to the beginning of the century;
But still, in matters vegetable, animal, and mineral,
I am the very model of a modern Major-General.

256 Then we completely disagree. No Republican has ever voted for Obamacare, the House has voted for full repeal over 40 times, the Senate since it came into Republican hands a couple times and every single Republican in the last 2 cycles ran on repeal.

Posted by: JackStraw

Again, it's easier to put your name on something that you know won't go anywhere and is just a protest. They knew Obama would veto, so there's no pain in a Republican voting for an ObamaCare repeal.

I don't believe most elected Republicans secretly wanted ObamaCare like some do, it's just that it's NOW an entitlement that people are actually on.

It's FAR easier to vote against an entitlement before it happens that remove people off of one.

That's why it was so crushing when Obama won and the Supreme Court folded because now it will be a much harder program to cancel for lawmakers.

My advice would be just rip it off quick like a bandage. The people that wanted their ObamaCare weren't Republican Trump voters anyway.

I like my chances a lot better with a President Trump than I do with a President Jeb or Kasich on this issue, that was my point.

The solution?

Federalism.

We've been advocating it for years, and they've been turning their noses up at it because of #racism or something.

We need to convince the saner portions of the left that, "Yes, I agree, it's terrifying to have a president that powerful and unaccountable that you don't agree with. Maybe we should work together to make Washington D.C. less consequential in life overall? That way, if the people of Mississippi wants to outlaw gay marriage, they can, while the people of California can hump each other in public all they want, and we'll leave each other alone."

I won't believe they're serious about the idea until Democratic states start supporting constitutional amendments to limit the federal governments power, though. So...it'll never happen.

The big flaw with this theory is that the vast majority of people receiving any benefit under Obamacare are not Republican voters which is why no Republican has ever voted for it or anything to support it. Most voters, forget Republican but voters period, want it gone. It is a popular position.

Anywho, no way to prove this one way or the other. We'll just have to disagree on this one. I've also never believed the nonsense that Republicans in Congress are no different from Democrats and secretly support Democrat laws. It's silly and if it were true the Democrat Party wouldn't now be a regional Party teetering on collapse. All this happened during Obama's tenure and it didn't happen because there is no difference between the Parties.

324 The big flaw with this theory is that the vast majority of people receiving any benefit under Obamacare are not Republican voters which is why no Republican has ever voted for it or anything to support it.

In other words... instead of thinking of a person as "my friend the militant Democrat" think of them as "my friend who is mentally ill."

Useless organization - there is no constitutional right to "housing" nor is there any reason for the Federal government to oversee such a thing. And there is no legitimate policy goal towards "developing urban areas" as opposed to other areas - I mean - is there a Department of Suburban Development? How about a Department of Rural Development? Why the f*ck not - people in those areas do not count? F*ck you too.

HUD is a truly stupid idea from , until now, our stupidest President - Carter. It should simply be abolished and any legitimate functions moved to the Department of Commerce which, itself should be shrunk.

And yes - as another poster pointed out - it is still pressuring banks to write mortgagees to people who should not be getting them - wich led to the 2007-20078 financial crisis in the first place!

They have the best repair or return policy of any company I've ever dealt with. When I was in school in Maine, we would go to Bean's when we were particularly bored on our way to Portland. More than once we fell asleep in tents they had on display. The staff would wake us up and kick us out but never got ugly, they were usually laughing.

Alcohol may have played a part.

389 Once again, I think that was Graham's way of saying that he personally supported the waiver, which changes the general into a civilian ("mister.") This is the necessary act before the "mister" can become "Mr. Secretary."

I am no fan of Graham but I think the point he was making is the exact opposite of what others here are assuming. IOW, I see it as 100% supportive of the nominee.

Which is still bullshit semantics. They'll call Mattis "General" in 10 years if they'll call him general tomorrow.

It a title and term of endearment that he earned.

If he HAD waited the requisite number of years before being selected, they'd still call him general. Same as they call R. Lee Ermy Gunnery Sgt.

394 @355 []How about a Department of Rural Development?

Saying a mouthful. In effect there is -- it's right there in the Northwest Ordinance, and in the state charters of every state since then: Legal-level expectation that the goal of every township is to become a city. That approach has become a millstone around the neck of every rural area "trying" to stay rural. It results in a very-modern need to use a lot of government regulations to avoid having more government regulations.

Example: in my state, once your area has more than 10,000 people, even if it's half a county, you must establish a full-time, union fire department, and retire your volunteer fire department, because you are a "City" now.

There is a great deal of wickedness concealed in the NW Ordinance, "the second constitution." It was a damnbig issue at the time, and debated.

416 Big social programs usually benefit the many at the expense of the few. Obamacare benefits fewer people than it helps.

But most Americans don't realize the costs of their healthcare because it's often paid third party by their employer or the government.

If they got the bill directly, they'd see that for a growing number healthcare is now the largest item in their personal spending, even bigger than housing.

We spend something like twice the per capita figure on healthcare of any other industrial nation with no better longevity.

Long-term, getting health care costs down is the most critical thing for our national solvency. Nothing else is close.

448 Agree with an earlier poster that HillaryLand moved on Pussygate a bit too early.

They had no choice. She had done the face plant on 9/11 and left a shoe behind being rushed to medical care. There was no way anyone was going to elect her president at that point, her polls were free falling out of orbit. They pulled the trigger on it because they had to.

I agree the deplorable comment hurt her, by solidifying opposition, but her collapse was was sealed the coffin.

Do you want to know the single largest reason that Graham keeps winning re-election?

It's because no military man in South Carolina, or that man's family, thinks that Graham has anything but their best interests at heart.

You can argue against it, but it's their belief and they have a reason for it.

No, what annoys me is how the apparent hatred for Paul Ryan leads some on the right to completely gloss over anything good he has ever done.

Yeah, he'd rather have open borders, but that's not the only issue the government plays with.

I'm okay with using the term RINO. It's definition can change for whoever's using it (I'm not a dictionary or anything). I'd just rather see the right have a more complete view of the people who actually are in the same party as us.

For example: If I ever bring up the fact that John Boehner was the one who killed the Gang of Eight (by refusing to even bring the Senate bill up for a vote in the House), all I get is, "He didn't mean it and we must hate him forever." The dude is pretty contemptible, but that shouldn't keep us from forgetting when he did good things for us.
