Firm Behind Trump Dossier Also Claimed Planned Parenthood Sting Videos Were Deceptively Edited

That's not all Fusion GPS has been up to in recent years. In 2015, Planned Parenthood was stung by a video expose that detailed its involvement in human organ trafficking—organs harvested from the bodies obtained after abortions. Those behind the expose, David Daleiden and the Center for Medical Progress, knew they would be severely scrutinized so they released dozens of hours of raw footage that their documentary evidence was culled from to show that their reports had not been selectively edited. Nor were they misrepresenting the shocking statements of Planned Parenthood officials. Nonetheless, Planned Parenthood produced a "forensic report" concluding that the videos had in fact been manipulated. The author of that report was none other than Fusion GPS. If you bothered to read the details of Fusion GPS's report it made some damning concessions, even admitting there was no "widespread evidence of substantive video manipulation." But overall, the report was calculated to be misleading and was nothing but an underhanded PR stunt for Planned Parenthood.

I think they probably can do the latter. That is, they can create a law binding their OWN behavior. They've done that from the beginning.
But such a law has no permanent or Constitutional force. It can be waived or repealed at will by the next Congress.

As soon as the media threw out the "millions will lose their insurance!!" they would fold.
It would be some window dressing reform like repealing the medical device tax and calling it a victory.
Even if Trump is not an across the board traditional conservative, just having the guts to stand up to the 4th Estate counts for a lot.

theae organizations use to play the long game. They would anticipate a change in party and try to work the issues through those transitions.
But organizations like PP blew it. They counted on Democrats, the media and left leaning Republicans to pull them out of the entire scandal around selling baby parts. But in this new administration they're finished. Especially with the "women's health argument neutralized they're not enough votes to help them.
They pretty much thumbed their nose at republicans. Now the payback is going to crush them. Bless their hearts.

also argued did not seem to be picking up on clear movement towards a
"change" or "shake things up" posture). That being said - I was on pins
and needles until Florida was called. Then I had hope - then when
Wisconsin was called I knew it was over - MI and PA - MMmmmm icing on
the cake.
Remember - never give up hope - even if you are in a
deep blue state - VOTE!! Next time I do not want these a-holes to have
this - "bb-bbutut Demzebub candidate won the popular vote" BS - which
just means they ran up the score in LA, NY and Chicago. Take those hell-holes out and Trump won - won by a whole lot - and won everywhere.

I think he's doing to real things that are acting as real assists to the overall effort:
1) He's dogging them into action with public call outs. I don't know if it's actually affecting things, but it might.
and
2) He's taking up a lot of media oxygen with other stuff, allowing the ACA repeal effort to remain as a small point within a larger news day of golden showers.

Honestly, no, I don't think other Republican Presidents would be good on this issue.
A kabuki bill everyone knows is not going to pass is much easier to put your name on then one that actually will pass and have an effect.
Trump is not a solid, free market conservative on an issue like health care but I do give him credit that I think he has the fortitude to get past the media scaring him.
I think a Kasich or Jeb would have done something spineless like repeal ObamaCare with something like an 8 year drawdown that would not be on their watch.

Then we completely disagree. No Republican has ever voted for Obamacare, the House has voted for full repeal over 40 times, the Senate since it came into Republican hands a couple times and every single Republican in the last 2 cycles ran on repeal.
In fact, Trump is the first one I've heard who has actually walked some parts of the repeal back saying he wants to keep the pre-existing conditions part and allowing young adults to stay on their parents insurance. Earlier in the campaign, Trump was running on universal healthcare like Canada's. He's kinda been all over the map on this issue.
I understand that Trump has energized a lot of people with his slash and burn style but he is not the only person in DC working.

They run all the subsidized housing in urban areas, and they also monitor banks, loan institutuions, etc for red lining of minorities, etc. They supervise and write the regulations that govern mortgages.
It's brief mission statement has the word "inclusive" in it twice and discrimination in it once.
That should tell you exactly what it's purpose is.

Again, it's easier to put your name on something that you know won't go anywhere and is just a protest. They knew Obama would veto, so there's no pain in a Republican voting for an ObamaCare repeal.
I don't believe most elected Republicans secretly wanted ObamaCare like some do, it's just that it's NOW an entitlement that people are actually on.
It's FAR easier to vote against an entitlement before it happens that remove people off of one.
That's why it was so crushing when Obama won and the Supreme Court folded because now it will be a much harder program to cancel for lawmakers.
My advice would be just rip it off quick like a bandage. The people that wanted their ObamaCare weren't Republican Trump voters anyway.
I like my chances a lot better with a President Trump than I do with a President Jeb or Kasich on this issue, that was my point.

We've been advocating it for years, and they've been turning their noses up at it because of #racism or something.
We need to convince the saner portions of the left that, "Yes, I agree, it's terrifying to have a president that powerful and unaccountable that you don't agree with. Maybe we should work together to make Washington D.C. less consequential in life overall? That way, if the people of Mississippi wants to outlaw gay marriage, they can, while the people of California can hump each other in public all they want, and we'll leave each other alone."
I won't believe they're serious about the idea until Democratic states start supporting constitutional amendments to limit the federal governments power, though. So...it'll never happen.

The big flaw with this theory is that the vast majority of people receiving any benefit under Obamacare are not Republican voters which is why no Republican has ever voted for it or anything to support it. Most voters, forget Republican but voters period, want it gone. It is a popular position.
Anywho, no way to prove this one way or the other. We'll just have to disagree on this one. Where are the protests of this? Where are the women dressed as vaginas (showing us how serious they are) calling for McConnell to stop? Where are the ads showing Paul Ryan pushing granny off a cliff?
They're not going to notice until the last step, and they'll throw together some last ditch effort to stop it, but they'll get sidetracked by Trump saying something outrageous.

Well, if I remember correctly, he kinda got his start there in the comments sections (like other bloggers, including Roger Simon, Iowahawk and our own zombie), writing extremely funny comments. Then he went off and began "Allah Is In the House" which really was one of the most entertaining blogs around in oh, about 2003 or so.
It's when he went to HotAir that I stopping being a fan, since he used to do stuff like post approving things about something some bunch of militant atheists were doing, simply to wind up his conservative readers. Trolling your own readers betrays a basic contempt for them, I think.

For example: If I ever bring up the fact that John Boehner was the one who killed the Gang of Eight (by refusing to even bring the Senate bill up for a vote in the House), all I get is, "He didn't mean it and we must hate him forever."
