Oh, I don't mean the content of the tweet, which is just typical c**tflapping. I mean the joke itself. There's a type of "joke" for which Twitter is infamous. It's the sort of "joke" used constantly by unfunny progs. It's basically just a "I have to say something" brainless mouth-fart. There's no thought in this expression. There's certainly no humor. But "I have to say something" is what all the silly narcissists on Twitter think, never appreciating the possibility that one actually doesn't need to open one's fuckhole about every stupid thing one sees on TV, and if one says something at all, one doesn't have to make a stupid little non-joke "joke." One can actually say something in a straight declarative sentence. Here, one could say: "This seems a pure sympathy play to rebut charges of racism." Now, I might disagree with that, but I wouldn't think the guy is an Unfunny Tasteless Asshole for saying it. I'd just think he was an Asshole. Which is a much lighter charge. (In my opinion.) There are a lot of non-clever people in the world who seem to believe that they should say "clever things" whenever they open up their c*mbubbling dickports but have absolutely no idea what a clever thing to say might sound like. I was reading a collection of movie reviews on Rotten Tomatoes for "Sully" with Tom Hanks and this female critic was basically insinuating the movie was about "white power" and I wanted to see who the hell would say something so absurd and saw the critic was an MTV movie critic.
Again, 20 years ago, something like that would not have been tolerated, but now, anything for the dying network to get a little extra attention.

Yeah, that's why the areas described as "oriental" shifted over time. The Middle East was often described as "oriental" in the early 20th century. Over time it became just the India and Far East countries.
Its a pretty good term, while Asia is nearly meaningless, describing a gigantic land mass from the Caucasus Mountains all the way to the tip of Russia near Alaska, from the arctic circle down to nearly Australia. Its reduced the meaning of the description to near emptiness.

In other news. I was literally snowed in here. Went to let the dog out, and the screen door wouldn't open, because half a foot of snow had drifted in to block it. Cruz not endorsing the party nominee at the RNC doesn't bother me. Given the nastiness of the primary campaign, I wouldn't blame him.
Taking a prime speaking slot and not endorsing the nominee.....that's a dick move, and more importantly, a petulantly stupid political move. Cruz should have known better.
Having said that, with his actions in the last couple of weeks, Cruz has gone a LONG ways towards making up for that mistake.
