I am going to have to depart from this line of thinking. I used to be on board with this, that this was thought crime, but not really.
Intent does matter. If you skid on ice and kill someone accidentally, they are just as dead as if you aimed for them. Should you be punished just the same?
If they broke into your house and you shot them, they are just as dead, right?
A hate crime is actually worse because the intent is bigger than just what you did. That is why terrorism is different than just regular old violent crime.

I'm not sure there is one other than the obvious, bankruptcy. They are never going to dig out of the debt and there is no will to do it anyway.
This is a basic flaw with bringing PR into the Union. They have more of a island/Latin American culture than an American one. We have enough trouble here getting people to understand that our welfare state is broken. Many in PR will never accept that the free shit needs to end.

2. If they become independent, they could go bad. Frankly, I think the Philippines would have been better off if they remained USA territory.

While intent and purpose is an important part of criminal decisionmaking (deliberate murder vs accidental, for instance) this goes beyond that. So you create a penalty for murder, then temper that by intent based on its effect on society and danger an individual represents.
And finally, it is not the business of the government to protect people from fear of intimidation, offense, or discomfort. That is the area of society, not law, and giving government even a tiny part of that camel's nose under the tent of law will only lead to tyranny.

The main reason they want statehood is so they can get MORE federal welfare (in the form of a bailout for their corrupt government's bad deals), and other types of individual welfare for which their citizens are not currently eligible, such as EITC and increased Medicaid payments.
PR already costs U.S. taxpayers billions of dollars a year in welfare hand-outs. Making PR a state would just make things worse.
We should cut PR loose. Let them have their independence, and then they can sort out their own issues.

I think we need a law describing what happens when a state declares bankruptcy. I think they should go back to territorial status with an appointed governor. They can keep their local legislature, but they need to throw out everyone and hold new elections. They lose their US Representation and US Senators. The state can be carved up as part of their readmittance to the Union.

It's an old story - and one that Tucker told on himself. Apparently, years ago, Tucker made fun of The Donald's hair. Trump actually called him up and said, "I get more p*ssy in a week than you get in a lifetime."
Carlson said, "That's true."
Carlson thought it was funny - and it didn't stop him from seeing Trump as a viable candidate.
My guess is that the Daily Beast dug it up because of Carlson's promotion - and as further proof of Trump's "sexism."

Moreover, it was the introduction to "Donald Trump Is Shocking, Vulgar--And Right", by Tucker Carlson, written a year ago, where Tucker declared himself on the Trump Train, ahead of just about everyone else.

And it is in large part due to the Leftwingers' constant incitement of race-hate against whites among blacks (and to a lesser extent, Hispanics).
The blacks are ultimately responsible for their own criminal actions, but the Leftwingers egg them on and excuse them afterwards.
