Cultivating the image of being a little crazy or out-of-control makes predicting you impossible, thus the media's gullibility for stories like this becomes a liability for them instead.

But illegal insider trading requires that you not only trade on the basis of important nonpublic information but that you also have some sort of duty to keep the information confidential. Former football coach Barry Switzer was sued for insider trading following a similar scenario in 1981, but he won the case because he had no duty to ignore a conversation he overheard in a public place.

My ex-BIL's cousin, a retired NYC cop, met him that way too - she was a Trump tower right before he announced and, not being at all shy, asked if he would pose for a picture with her. He said, "You're a retired cop? One of NY's Finest? Certainly!"

She had the picture printed out and framed it and took it to a Trump rally in Wisconsin this year. She handed it to him when she was standing in line to shake his hand and asked him to sign it. He did.

She had copies of the signed pic made and sent them out with her Christmas cards - which caused instant heartburn among her liberal relatives.
