Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Japanese Firm SoftBank Promises $50 Billion in Investment in America, Likely Generating 50,000 Jobs, After Meeting with TrumpAccording to The Wall Street Journal, Son told reporters at Trump Tower that the investment would come from a $100 billion fund created in partnership with the Saudi Arabia sovereign-wealth fund and other investors. SoftBank in October announced a $100 billion tech fund with the Saudis called the SoftBank Vision Fund. The fund had not detailed where it would invest. Details about the jobs or what sort of businesses the fund would invest in were not announced. But Son showed reporters a PowerPoint slide signed by Son and Trump with the vague numbers. Shortly after the meeting, Trump tweeted the details of the agreement and said the deal never would have been done "had we (Trump) not won the election."Allahpundit writes that this is probably to buy goodwill for a purchase of T-Mobile they're eyeing but may be blocked by the government on anti-trust grounds. Well, you can't spell "propaganda victory" without "victory." Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

On my heart for many years -- the working class. I am sickened by people who say "oh, it's impossible to bring back manufacturing" or (completely clueless) "we need to train people for the global economy." For the past two decades I have driven through towns in the counties that surround Philadelphia where there are scores of abandoned and vacant buildings that formerly held manufacturing concerns. It completely floored me that this country could not find the wherewithal and drive to bring them back to life. One party preferred turning the former employees into permanent wards of the state, while the other party merely wanted the same transformation to take a little longer. If Japan really wants to dump cash into the US, they should invest in start up companies. Places like Amazon before they got big. Buying into established businesses might net you a few percent above inflation but the big money is finding the Hot New Thing. I will never forget the SF story, even if I have forgotten the title and the author, about the new gadget two guys in college imagined. One guy, an American, tried to interest new business in his idea, and no one would buy it. The other guy, a Japanese guy took the idea back home and got it put into production. The big idea (in the '80's) was a Kindle book reader. Look at SF from the '50's. The computers were the size of houses, and input/output was paper tape in machine machine language. "Over last 8 years, no foreign terrorist organization has successfully planned and executed an attack on our homeland" - Obama today.
Posted by: Dr Spank at December 06, 2016 06:23 PM Wow that reads like a lawyer wrote it. Seeing as Fort Hood, Boston Marathon, Orlando, San Bernadino can all *technically be said to have been perpetrated by domestic lone wolves and not planned and executed by a foreign terrorist organization. If Barry was speaking to the military he could have been trying to give them a pat on the back while taking most of the credit like he always does. But since it is TFG I'm on board with full boo hiss response to this weaselly statement. Posted by: PaleRider, link to SMFH funeral expenses for Carl at December 06, 2016 07:13 PM (dkExz) 314

Hell, I just realized that I had a 'man purse' back in the seventies. Used it to carry one of the first two meter synthesized rigs back in the day when handhelds were two channel crystal controlled. Big enough for a 12v battery to power the thing. I was too much of a nerd to know it wasn't cool. Posted by: Resolutely Optomistic at December 06, 2016 07:15 PM (OsxVm) 323

If Al Czervic (Rodney Dangerfield) and Ronald Reagan had a son... he'd be Donald J. Trump. Posted by: Soothsayer at December 06, 2016 07:02 PM (vHU+c) It's been a long time since I saw "Caddyshack", but I need to watch it again. The conflict between the country club bluebloods led by Ted Knight vs. Rodney Dangerfield is a nearly perfect analogy of the GOPe vs. Trump. Do you know how hard it was for Allahpundit to write that column? His whole schtick is to spin for the Establishment. The Establishment hates Trump, so AP will spin every fact as much as he plausibly can to create a negative image (like a sorcerer). He's frequently wrong, because his columns are spin. He tries to turn an obscure fact and inject it with all kinds of bullshit meaning.
It's actually kind of amazing in the column Ace references, because AP is hemmed in by the obvious good news. He had no 'raw material' to negatively spin in this story. He's odious. And I am ecstatic at seeing operatives like AP and Ben Shapiro fail in their efforts to deceive. It's nice to see their illusions being destroyed every. single. day.
