Ugh: Al Gore Just Had an "Extremely Interesting" Conversation About Climate Change With Ivanka Trump... and Donald Trump Himself

Ivanka's a stone-cold liberal and climate alarmist (naturally), and she's one of Trump's closest advisers. He seems to trust her more than anyone else.

So it's a problem that she was meeting with him.

It's even more of a problem that Trump decided to show up for the meeting himself.

I hope there's enough people warning Trump on this.

s Donald Trump continues to indicate that he might be willing to change his position on climate change, which he has long called a "hoax," the president-elect met Monday with former vice president Al Gore, who has become a prominent activist in the fight against global warming.

Gore was originally scheduled to meet just with Trump's oldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, who is not registered with a political party and has already pushed her father to adopt positions usually promoted by Democrats. Gore told reporters that after that meeting, he then had "an extremely interesting conversation" with the president-elect.

"I had a lengthy and very productive session with the president-elect. It was a sincere search for areas of common ground," Gore told reporters after spending about 90 minutes at Trump Tower in Manhattan during the lunch-hour on Monday. "I had a meeting beforehand with Ivanka Trump. The bulk of the time was with the president-elect, Donald Trump. I found it an extremely interesting conversation, and to be continued, and I'm just going to leave it at that."

I've got that queasy feeling coming on again. I knew we wouldn't win.

Winning an election is not the same as actually winning, if the guy who won is actually against you.

What idiots told other people to vote for this guy?

But Ace, remember the difference between winning and whining?

5 Just because someone goes to a meeting doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Remember-- he's a business man, not a politician.

So while Gore is thinking he got a theoretical audience with the Pope, perhaps Trump is just thinking "Yeah, I should sit in on this meeting to see what the Idiot is going to tell my Daughter. That way if we argue about it later, I was in the room and know exactly what ManBearPig said."

Posted by: zmdavid

Heh. THAT may actually be what Trump is up to. Brilliant!

In stone-cold reality, if you want to look at which nations are REALLY contributing over 90% of carbon emissions annually, they are:

1. China
2. India
3. Indonesia

Why those three? China has massive amounts of factories and coal power plants; India has almost no pollution controls and 1.4 billions people; and Indonesia not only has factories and no pollution controls and tons of people but they ALSO do a slash-and-burn type of agriculture that sends uncountable tons of soot and carbon into air every season.

Combined, those three nations are responsible for "the problem" (in the hypothetical scenario that you consider it a problem, which I don't).

So, just to troll Gore and the left, Trump might come out and say, "Yes, humankind is pumping too much carbon into the atmosphere. So let's do everything we can to rein in China, India and Indonesia, and move manufacturing back to the US, where we have great pollution controls!"

Our government isn't designed to be trusted, it's designed for verification - which has largely been replaced with dependency in one form or another.

Each instance of that isn't automatically terrible, but as a pattern it's destructive. It's hard (bordering on impossible) not to fall into this trap, as history demonstrates.

189 I hope this is the mid-game: As long as energy independence is the main pillar of energy policy, the melons can have their windmills and solar panels and sundry playpurties. But what if we applied Cheney's precautionary principle to AGW, considered the worst-case scenarios and their associated probabilities, and looked into eliminating govt-enabled market inefficiencies that create negative externalities and gutting less-than-useless regulatory agencies like the EPA? Trump's infrastructure program could be an opportunity to reshape the issue.

Can laws, treaties, government, transnational actions halt any change in the climate? Doubtful at best. But such laws are a good way to gain control over the human race, which is the goal. One Trump better understand as inimical to freedom and business too.

He's being seen talking to many on all sides of every issue. That's the bringing people together and why would it be automatically thought that those brought up are the changing his mind? 267 If Trump goes wobbly on this, he's not going to be able to put together the rural coalition he had.

Environmental nonsense is a big, festering issue in these communities that is a real job killer. Rural voters USED to be big Democrat voters but the party decided to cast its lot with San Francisco tech moguls instead.

Trump is much better off ignoring Millenial voters that will never cast a vote for him. He's never going to be the guy that wins over this crowd.

global warming, because the behaviour of the people operating it would
turn them into solid skeptics. The actual text of the New York Times interview shows Trump has lots of
arguments from the skeptic side already in his head. It's all he needs,
because the climate warriors are wrong, and there claims are built
around 97% consensus, we're doomed, models prove it, etc, that are not
convincing to people who have heard the other side.

Search for 'Trump Ali G interview'. He is excellent at recognizing a con.
