5 I saw this last night on Drudge, and honestly, it's pretty weak from my viewing.

She's definitely very sick and frail, but we needed something like a seizure on television to really drive that home.

27 No exit polling, but florida is giving updates on who actually voted. It looks really promising so far for trump. The big questions though is what percent of R's does he get vs D's for Clinton and the independent split. The R/D breakdown should be way better for Trump vs Romney if the voting trends continue.

40 Repost from an earlier thread.

What do I want from a Trump administration?
I want a politicized Department of Justice to root out every trace of Democratic presence in the federal bureaucracy. I want witch hunts in the IRS and the EPA that arrest people for protected political speech, leading to show trials and punitive actions against those who engage in legal political activity. I want bureaucrats terrorized into quitting their jobs and blindly following orders. I want the whole government so blindly panicked at the very idea of coming under the scrutiny of the political arm of the DoJ that they quit rather than collect their pensions.

I want to weaponize the various arms of government to deploy them against our political enemies and destroy their ability to effectively mount legal or political challenges to our initiatives, and make it personally costly for them to try and do so. I want to ruin their lives and careers if they say things critical of needed reforms.

I want to make it dangerous to attempt to corrupt our republic again.

I want to make this such a political bloodbath that the enemies of the Constitution will shudder for a generation before they even think of desecrating things again. I want a political Terror that will echo down the ages as did the French terror.

VIX is a bet on volatility which is considered likely in the event of a Trump win.

If it's down that means the bulks of the betting at the moment is on Hillary. But it doesn't 'mean' anything in the sense that the people betting are doing so on gut instict-they don't know any more than we do.

It's not down 18.20, it's priced at 18.20. It is down $0.34 (which is sort of a nothing move).

60 My daughter, 18 yrs old, just voted in her 1st presidential election and took my 92 yr old mother to vote. They said the lines in NJ were moving and lots of people were voting . ( in my entire life, I've never seen lines at the polls at home)
Am abroad ( I voted for The Donald weeks ago) and the general consensus in Italy is : they fear Trump and want Hillary. If you think our press is vile and lying bunch, you should hear what the Italian pundits say about Trump; it's unbelievably wrong! Italians, however, take this with a grain of salt as they already know their press is a bunch of lying
bastards.
Mom sent some reassuring words and reminded me to keep praying for our republic. Here's a reminder of God's power and majesty; may it take everyone's minds off of the election fears: http://tinypic.com/r/9ithrc/9

In the aggregate, the market is pro-status quo. It's hard to place a bet on future results when the environment is subject to change.

The market going down wasn't a sign of investor fear of Trump. It was a sign of fear of change. It will probably go down for a bit if Trump wins until the landscape firms up.

HotAir: Three key reasons to vote -- and vote Trump
posted on November 8, 2016 by Ed Morrissey

Finally, this weekend I cast my ballot for Donald Trump, as I had planned to do for the last two months. This may have been the most reluctant vote I have ever cast for a Republican candidate on any level since I began voting, but it may be one of the most necessary votes I feel like I have ever cast as well. Trump might not have the temperament needed for the top office, but the alternative was worse in several significant ways.

179 This election is basically a showdown between the Old American Narrative (Trump) and the New American Narrative (Hillary).

Trump's narrative is the outsider who shocks the Establishment and wins despite all the forces being lined up against him: Rodney Dangerfield in Caddyshack.

Hillary is the new American Narrative: Power Always Wins. Whereas old TV shows were all private detectives and cowboys (outsiders), now American TV is all shows about Government bureaucracies: CSI, Law and Order, Homeland... where the Government always wins because it has tools and procedures. And when Government goes away, there's nothing but chaos and Glenn getting beaten to death with a baseball bat.

We'll see tomorrow which narrative has prevailed.

196 Its just going to be incredibly odd if Trump wins a slew of swing states like Ohio, North Carolina and Florida, yet still loses.

I just don't see that scenario. I tend to think they usually move with each other.

So if something like North Carolina is looking so good that even CNN has conceded it's probably Trump's, that's at least some good news.

Back before the illegal immigration flood of the last few decades, large parts of the big cities were suburban or even rural. Voting in garages was not uncommon even in Los Angeles.

235 Just finished voting.

90 minutes in line to complete.

Sounds like a huge turnout, right?

Here is the real story.

Baltimore county switched to scanned paper ballots this year instead of electronic touch screen.

So previously at our poll, you were able to walk in,and then have a choice of any of the 19 electronic poll machines. And the instant you completed your vote casting, you were finished, and the booth was available for the next person.

This election, you still have 19 ballot booths to fill out your ballot at.

BUT...instead of being finished at that point, you then reform into the next line where only a single scanning machine is provided to scan the paper ballot.

In other words, our 90 minute voting experience would have been under five minutes, in and out the door using the old method.

Turnout is not that high, the huge crowd is due to the backlog attempting to get their paper ballot scanned.

VIX is a measure of implied volatility for the S&P 500 options.

The market wants Clinton to win because she would likely keep interest rates low and continue Quantitative Easing, which is a big gift to the big shots in banking and on Wall Street.

A drop in VIX today means that the market believes that Clinton will win the election.

Only Clinton or Trump will win. There is no third choice. No other person has a chance. It is impractical and silly to advocate otherwise.

I'm not saying it's right, or how I would want it, or that it's a shitty choice. All of these things are also true. But it is simply an immutable truth that no one other than one of those two will be selected. Period.

Yeah, thanks for nothing, dickweed.

Crapping all over Trump for months on your blog then on the last day, at the last second, when it can have no possible effect cuz no one will read it-

If Trump pulls this off, Ford moving small car production to Mexico will have been the catalyst. It's coming for the line workers and they have to know it.

I was really only interested in voting for Trump but I threw a couple of votes for state Republicans in - AG, Treasurer, stuff like that. Toomey can blow me before he gets a vote.

423 Colorado Early Vote update for today saw the Republicans gain some 11k votes on Dems....

(D) 753,052
(R) 771,745
(I) 656,882

I assume that a huge drop is still left for today, Colorado is now 100% EV/Mail In, but I don't know if the Republican lead will be enough to overcome the reported advantage Clinton has in cross-over vote.

Also, this may be a good sign, by county the Democratic stronghold of Denver Co is seeing the lowest turnout numbers at 61%, while the Republican stronghold, Douglas Co, has the highest at 75%!!

There is a link with the County results in my signature.

Think of it this way: I belong tocertain 12-Step fellowship found under the A's at the beginning of the phonebook. Weare taught that we dogood works for others ultimatelyfor ourselves, for our own well-being. You get what you give. The more you give, the more you get. Further, it's only by doing these good works--service work of any kind--that we learn how to love. Learning how to love is--according to some faith traditions--the whole point of our existence.

One of the hardest things for me to learn was how to be a good guy. The hardest lesson is that being good doesn't just happen. You have to work for it. Some of us--like me--have to work harder at it than others.

His friend serving time in prison for doing nothing wrong didn't matter to George; the important thing was to keep his principals high, and his liberal friends close (Condi, Colin Powell, Bill Clinton). Scooter was, how shall I put this, expendable. And let's never forget the crude, rude language in the emails between Condi and Colin; oh, yes, class acts all the way.

Nah, I was just goofing on the fact that we both voted for him. I doubt I'll ever see NY go red again in my lifetime, but I suppose it's distantly, distantly possible this year. I live in Staten Island, and the primary voted for Trump were staggering. I think my precinct was something like 88% Trump.

NY is really an interesting case, because the downstate area (not just NYC though that's obviously the biggest factor, but also Long Island and Westchester) not only pulls the whole state irredeemably left, it repeatedly inflicts horrible damage on upstate communities by pushing through policies that, while fine for the city, devastate the rest of the state. The fracking ban is a classic one, but there are others.

Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a woman of wealth and station
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's donation

And I was 'round when Lewinsky
Had her moment of public shame
Made damn sure that my husband
Got off scott-free and secured fate

Pleased to meet you
Donate to my campaign
But what confuses you
Is I why don't feel shame

I stuck around St. Petersburg
When I saw it was a time for a change
Bowed to Putin and his ministers
The reset button was all in vain

I do profess
On "Lolita Express"
Laughing at young girls, against
Whom Bill did transgress

Pleased to meet you
Donate to my campaign, oh yeah
But what confuses you
Is I why don't feel shame, oh yeah

I watched with glee
While the vast right wing conspiracy
Fought for many decades
Against Leviathan I made

I shouted out,
"Who killed America?"
When after all
It was you and me

Let me please introduce myself
I'm a woman of wealth and spite
And I laid traps for Ambassadors
Who get killed when they reached Benghazi

Pleased to meet you
Donate to my campaign, oh yeah
But what confuses you
Is I why don't feel shame, oh yeah

Pleased to meet you
Donate to my campaign, oh yeah
But what confuses you
Is I why don't feel shame, oh yeah

Just as every cop is a criminal
And all the sinners saints
As heads is tails
Just call me Hillary
'Cause I'm in need of some restraint

So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
Donate your well-earned income
Or I'll lay your company to waste

Pleased to meet you
Donate to my campaign, oh yeah
But what confuses you
Is I why don't feel shame, oh yeah

Tell me n****r, support my campaign
Tell me f****t, give to my campaign
Tell me b****r, volunteer for my campaign
I tell you one time, you're to blame

Oh, yeah

496 To paraphrase GWB, is our GOP politicians learning?

No.

Are they going to reform the post-Trump GOP into a party that actually listens to and tries to forward the priorities of its voters?

No. Why would they want to do that?

Or is it going to go back to business as usual; playing as JV Democrats in odd-numbered years and then come back begging for votes in even numbered years.

Yes.

Think about this. Trump has had rallies almost once a week for almost a year now. Every one of them was packed to the gills and had to turn people away. People who went to them spent time in traffic both ways to see and hear him; it was an all-day affair.

That kind of sustained and even growing enthusiasm has got to translate into serious voter turnout. Otherwise it just makes no sense.

Trump represents the working classes. Those who did not go to Ivy League school, who drink at bars and don't give a sh*t what other people think of them. "Blue Collar."

544 Trump's narrative is the outsider who shocks the Establishment and wins despite all the forces being lined up against him: Rodney Dangerfield in Caddyshack.
