The Morning Report 10/18/16 [J.J. Sefton]

weld.jpeg

Morning, all. One story in the mix breaks my heart. My alma mater, Brooklyn College is evidently the center of the BDS movement in American academia. Considering its previously honorable history and location in what was once a solid Jewish, proudly pro-American neighborhood, it really is a slap in the face. Then again, look where we are as a nation. Have a better one.

.The panic over the birth rate is real and will have a devastating impact on social programs with an aging population. Social Security is taking the biggest hit.

When it got started there were 25 workers supporting one SS recipient, now there are only 3 supporting each person drawing a check and that is projected to go down to about 1.5 in the near future. That is unsustainable and Europe is worse.

The only way to address that issue is through population growth either legal or illegal because no one anywhere has the balls to cut any of those programs.

I have no problem with lower birth rates if it is happening uniformly. Unfortunately third world immigrants come to Western countries with birthrates well below replacement levels and average 6 kids. It does not take long to see the negative consequences of this. It has overwhelmed and destroyed the schools in my area of Atlanta and many/most are on the same path. I don't really either, although I used to since I grew up in a blue collar neighborhood. The women I knew were tough cookies who liked men and would not have been flustered by locker room talk - but I'm thinking back 40 years.

I suspect that if they have a husband who has lost his job due to the Obama economy, lost a kid to meth addiction and see their communities crumbling around them, they might have different priorities than the delicate middle class snowflakes who just can't vote for such a potty mouth - but who knows? One, SS has always been a ponzi scheme. It was doomed the moment life expectancy significantly shot up.

Two, it's not the number of workers supporting the system. It's the value created by the workers. Importing millions of low-skilled workers into high cost societies does not create net value.

A corollary to bringing in all of these low-skilled workers is that it increases social spending which raises taxes which makes it more expensive for the natives to form families. In other words, it's a death spiral.

Finally, a dropping population without importing workers results in higher wages which encourages forming families and an increase in population.

No it's only a crisis to those who think that we can continue ponzi economics forever.

Interesting thing is I try not to talk politics and but irl most of my friends are Trump supporters. On Facebook you would think I surround myself with people who are Clinton supporters.

I suspect manifestation of public vs private.

81 The problem isn't the declining birth rate in the US (which started turning around last year BTW). It is who is having the most births. Most of the US birth rate is now from unemployed minorities which is not surprising since they are paid to have babies. Some see that as a form of a profession, babies for fun and profit, husband not desired because that would hurt your income source.

How about women who have not been blessed with the opportunity to take Womyn's Studies 101 or sit though a diversity lecture so they can find out how oppressed they are by terrible white men?

91 If you missed last nights game between the Tribe and the Blue Jays you missed what might have been a Kirk Gibson moment, except it wasn't at the end of the game it was in the beginning. Indians pitcher Trevor Bauer sliced open a pinkie finger while putting new batteries into one of his drones last Friday, and he tried to pitch with 10 stitches in his finger.

No dice. His stitches opened up and he was looking like he might bleed out on the mound when MLB stepped in (in the form of the home plate ump) and told him to take a seat on the bench. His finger was trickling out a stream of blood in a steady flow.

Giving your all for Cleveland. The way of all good Americans!

99 That is unsustainable and Europe is worse.

Mainly because in Eurotopia, you're expected to stay in college until 25 and retire at 55; so that's only thirty years... less than half your life, contributing to the economy, and about half of those people are Government workers, and they all get three months of vacation a year.

As far as Social Security being a ponzi scheme, sure, but that doesn't change the fact that by about 2025 nearly a third of the US population will be dependent on it just as it starts it's death spiral.

107 Walden said he would consolidate "virtually all" of the city's more than

treating the police department like an occupying army."

He has no chance of becoming mayor of Baltimore....he probably knows that. Like where I live in an upstate NY city, the Republicans gave up long ago, even running for elected office in the city....waste of money.

*belonging or pertaining to the ranks of office and professional workers whose jobs generally do not involve manual labor or the wearing of a uniform or work clothes.

I go there because it's the closest and most convenient to my place. I grew up during a time when my family and extended family were transitioning from post-immigration blue collar to white collar, so I'm down with the BC since I grew up semi-blue-collar.

Wikileaks, FOIA releases, James O'Keefe, her "virtual candidacy" (where she runs from a hospital bed and rarely appears in public)....

You would think reporters would recognize these stories as once in a lifetime chances to carve a spot in journalism history. Instead, you see dramatic efforts to shut down news and ensure they keep to the "right line". All those overwrought emails to Podesta, making sure some story or other didn't wreck his peace of mind!

164 And BTW, SS is not being bankrupted by an increasingly long live population. The actual life expectancy after reaching age 65 has really increased that much from 1935 to present. The overall life expectancy has increased a lot in the US largely from the elimination of deaths in childhood from disease and deaths of young adults in wars and other violent actions. But that hasn't greatly affected the life expectancy if you reach the age of 65.

FDR really had not intended SS to be anything but another tax since most people would die before reaching 65.

A few weeks ago, they had a story about a woman who was being charged by a department store for breaking their no gun zone rule after she defended herself against robbers. Drew lots of outraged comments - except the story didn't name the city it supposedly took place in and there are no department stores of that name in the state it supposedly took place in.

I think we will suffer because there are a lot of women who have a college degree but are by no means educated (they may have swallowed the indoctrination, but never learned to think for themselves or question what was put in front of them), but in regards to the Juanita's of the world, I think they will surprise a lot of people. Any Hispanic who came here legally (or any person who emigrated legally) I think will go for Trump. They especially are hurt by open borders. Any family they want to help bring in has to wait due to illegal immigration and many are ticked off at the benefits illegals get compared to the legals. The angst legals have against illegals is huge.

And the only reason Trump spoke at CPAC is because he was a celebrity who spoke ill of TFG.

I am no longer wishy-washy because the legal immigrants I talked to had a valid point. I know personal experience is not always the "norm" but I have also come across stuff in the news that seems to support my experience. The real problem is that illegals outnumber the legal immigrants quite substantially.

My mom and dad were "real immigrants" and yes, I do see a huge injustice and inequity in allowing millions of foreigners to dodge the system and arrive here without the proper medical screenings. There are "real immigrants" here on work visas who have been here for decades, contributing hundreds of thousands of dollars to the tax coffers, and they don't even have a green card. In other words, they're not even granted Resident Alien status. They can be deported on a whim. They are paying tens of thousands of dollars to move through the system legally...and still no progress.

Those are just a few elements that contribute to the angst.

I recall watching that live, only got CNN, was not very politically savvy at the time. But even CNN kept saying there was no way Florida would rule in favor of Gore, listed all the reasons. But the court made the obviously biased ruling.

iirc, there were several times like that, where the party hacks in the process corrupted the process and helped Gore.

2012 we had the watchers getting kicked out (in PA I think), video of some guy in maybe NM walking in and stuffing a box full of ballots into the box. Verifying the vote can be done, obviously the cheating Democrats want to enable cheating, as they deny deny deny. If anything, the Florida Supreme court attempted to rig the election, granting recount after recount in order to get the result they wanted. That's when SCOTUS stepped in to stop this insanity.

Also, Secretary of State Katherine Harris had already certified the vote and sent it to Governor Jeb Bush in Tallahassee, who in turn sent it up to Congress.

Even if Congress had voted, the makeup of both houses meant that it would be Bush and Lieberman or Bush and Cheney.

The bottom line is, George W. Bush legally won the election and there was no way he was not going to be denied that.

358 Sailors are demanding their job titles back, but Navy officials are trying to persuade them their future is brighter without them.

The red-hot controversy over the Navys stripping every sailor of his or her rating titles isnt dying down and officialdom is ratcheting up its response. The chief of naval personnel published their second blog in as many weeks on Sunday, which defends the action as a first-step to creating more flexible enlisted careers. Thats summarized by their new graphic, Navy Occupational Specialty: One sailor, many paths.

Sailors have had a lot of questions about this, said Lt. Cmdr. Nathan Christensen, spokesman for the chief of naval personnel. Theres a lot in this for sailors to take in and were working to help them understand how this effects them today and ultimately how it will be helpful to their careers in the future.

The official blog post garnered over 600 comments, the great majority of which blasted the Navy for taking away sailors ratings, job titles like gunners mate or master-at-arms that sailors have identified with for generations. Now, all of the roughly 90 ratings will be replaced by NOS codes.

I cannot begin to explain how frustrating this is, commented Colton Morris on the Navys post. There are so many other ways this change could have been executed to better honor our long standing traditions. The leadership of this Navy is so far detached that they are willing to gamble the morale of the entire enlisted Navy on a hopeful whim that this new system will work better?

NOBODY is buying this. And Fredo and Mabus that other political fucks at the Pentagon are destroying moral and The Navy..It's a crying shame

Posted by: Nevergiveup at October 18, 2016 09:22 AM (zp+j1)

Money. Ecuador is to FARC what Laos was for the VietCong. FARC uses the border with Colombia as a buffer, and uses the Ecuadorian side as a safe haven for logistics, training, etc. The Ecuadorians don't really want them around either. As a part of the 'War on Drugs', the U.S. gives Ecuador money to combat FARC and they have a vested interest in hostilities ceasing.

Net result: Kerry was willing to let drug cartel funded Commies run loose if the Ecuadorians didn't clamp down on Assange.

379 One of the released FBI docs (I think - so many docs being leaked or released) reported that Hillary refused to travel with US ambassadors when visiting them. They travel in an armored car, and it is protocol for the SoS to travel in the car w/them. Instead, Hillary insisted on traveling with Huma in a separate vehicle.

So...any guesses why?

I'm inclined to think that this was because Hillary has been sick/mentally impaired for years and she did this so that she could spend that time resting and/or prepping for whatever function she was to attend.

Posted by: mustbequantum at October 18, 2016 08:58 AM (MIKMs)

One thing that cracks me up as well as pisses me off about the debates is-

that they shoot Trump and Hillary! with two completely different magnifications and positions with the camera.

If you look at the double shots where they place Trump and Hillary! side-by-side

you will notice that-

they actually magnify Hillarys so that she appears bigger than Trump-

and position her higher in the frame so that she appears about an inch taller than Trump.

This has been consistent across the two debates, so when people talk about the fix being in-

this is what they're talking about.

This is a direct attempt to influence voters as it's well-known that voters tend to choose the taller man in elections.

I'm sure Trump's people recognized this chicanery after the 1st debate and that's why Trump paced the stage-

to mess up the MSM's false framing.

This is what I don't get - most aspring dictators realize they need the military and police on their side. You can't have a police state without police.

Obama seems hell bent on alienating them - it's that old 60's mindset of "pigs and baby killers." Except he's not in a college dorm room talking shit about them any more...

Yeah, he's replaced the top brass with compliant PC idiots - maybe he thinks the rank and file are just sheep who will just follow any orders they get.

But even the rulers of shoddy dictatorships like the old Romanian one realized the same policy was to give the rank and file MORE perks than the general public, thus making them loyal to the regime.

When your own CoC insults you regularly and bodies are left to rot at VA hospitals, what is the motive for cops and grunts to follow someone who shits on them?

It just doesn't seem like smart strategy to me.

BigGov politicians see the import of a new underclass as a "fix", largely to keep them elected as funding promises falls apart. Importing a welfare class will make it worse, and chain migration will bring in a lot of old people that never paid in to our system at all.

Technology gets better, more home care can be done, entitlement reform will be thrust upon us (not viable for a candidate to win on cutting benefits). Lots of fixes but not with Democrats winning with ads like the one showing Ryan pushing grandma off the cliff.

Dems win with those ads and all networks pushing the leftist propaganda. But they are the very reason we have the UNFUNDED $120Trillion in liabilities. Same with all the public pension promises, where they shift costs to the children, but get elected via promising a golden (unfunded) future retirement.

There are many fixes ... importing the third world is not one of them, if we care about keeping the republic.
