13 I can see their point in challenging the Bible. The single best-selling book, year in and year out, should always be hidden away at every opportunity. Did you know lists of the Top Ten Best Selling Books of the Year, including the New York Times List, automatically excludes the Bible every year from their lists? That's because every year the Bible is the best seller, so it's automatically dropped. So they can push the other dreck.

157 The standing issue is one of my grievances against the Federal government, basically unequal accesss to the judicial branch.

Posted by: Make America Great Again at April 12, 2016 08:04 AM (LXJ1e)

As
demonstrated above liberal judges will turn inside out to give standing
to liberal actions while issuing lack of standing orders in a one
sentence blerb to case dismissal for conservative actions.

18 On the corrupt NRLB:

Dennis Walsh, the regional director forthe agency's fourth district, was suspended without pay for 30 days

Oh my such a harsh ruling!!!! Suspended for 30 days after found to be a union shill. All of Obama's appointments to the NRLB have been found to be union shills.

The NRLB is one of those federal agencies that should be totally eliminated.

27 Thank you for the big dump this morning, MisHum. Your morning links are a YUGE time-saver. One small criticism of today's links: No litigant ever "gets hit" with a settlement; litigants agree to settlements. Obligations under a settlement are adopted as an exercise of free will & choice. "Gets hit with" implies a lack of participation in the litigation process; the phrase also implies mandated, imposed behavior rather than a bargained-for outcome.

38 On the idiots boycotting NC over their law prohibiting the individual cities passing their own Gaystapo laws all you have to is look at SC. SC is still under a "boycott" by the NAACP over the confederate flag on top of the Statehouse despite the fact that it was removed over a decade ago. It has had zero impact on SC.

I'll also add close off travel too and from countries with zika epidemics that one other Morons added.

75 What my professor meant was the dawn of large-scale agriculture that occurred before the feudalism and serfs, like what lead to the ancient city states of Mesopotamia and Egypt. It did eventually cause feudalism and serfs, though, which is what he meant. Rich landowners could now exploit the poor workers and such. Not necessarily wrong, but quite a pessimistic and cynical view of history.

114 I have to confess to a bias. Unless you're really taking the long view, every specialized period of history has its own Agricultural Revolution. When I was a kid, it was all about developed hybrids and farm mechanization. In the last 40 years you'd damned well be talking about Norm Borlaug, who saved the world.

But to medievalists (Second Half), it's the deep moldboard plow, pulled by horses. That's what I assumed the damn-them-to-hell anthropology prof would have been talking about. Bet you anything Cato the Elder (Furthermore Carthage) had his own opinions, being as he wrote the first book in Latin and it was about farm management (mostly? Keep your slaves working).

Dr Solomon Katz of the University of Pennsylvania, a profound scholar, was able to show that the purpose of differentiating grain-bearing grasses, and settling down to nurture them, was to make beer, and anybody against that is an alien.

Onto my favorite topic, the FBI primary...

Just thought I'd let you know, I went to a lefty website to see what they thought of Obama's remarks about HRC to Chris Wallace on Sunday. Their reaction was the opposite of ours.

Srsly, they saw the whole thing as a death knell. Obama's repeated insistence that (no matter what else happens) she was a great secretary of state is something like "We'll always have Paris." Or maybe "Be gentle with her; she will be shown to be a criminal and she will never be president, but she did do so much good."

They also see his remark about her "carelessness" as somewhere between an outright lie (i.e., it was not "careless" to set up a private server) and a dig.

They're reading the whole thing as a call to prep Plan B(ernie, iden, or eth Warren).

Here we are saying "It is now clear: the fix is in." They're saying "It is now clear: she is doomed."

I'm leaning towards justice will be served.

So where all this leads is, COMEY 2020! Or 2024! Whatever!

First, slanting is lying if it is designed to leave a false impression in people's heads.

Second, there is nothing slanted or lying about a headline that claims death threats are being made and Trump supporters are posting CO GOP officer's addresses when the article goes on to report those very things with proof.

205 TALK ABOUT AN IMPACT: David Tepper, the richest man in New Jersey, is moving to Florida -- and that's sending Garden State officials into something of a tizzy. A budget projector said Tepper's move could have a significant impact on how much revenue New Jersey, which has one of the highest tax burdens of all the states, collects in a given year. The move has led senior GOP lawmakers to call for a full overhaul of the state's tax system. And it comes as Republican Gov. Chris Christie is grappling with a Democratic legislature over tax hikes on the wealthy and the estate tax.

... now you know the tax system is screwed up when the loss of one taxpayer can send an entire state into panic.

The process is opaque everywhere. This place has a lot of people who follow politics pretty closely and you couldn't find more than 1 or 2 people who could have told you before the primary started the rules in every state.

Trump has actually benefited more than any other candidate this primary season from rules that have granted him a higher percentage of delegates than the popular vote would suggest. But I don't hear a lot of people bitching about that. Most people don't really give a crap about the rules of a primary. They just care who wins.

I think a lot of Trump supporters overestimate his appeal. It is getting more selective by the day.

Well, if you are looking for real life writing workshops, I would suggest asking around on any of these: Sarah Hoyt' s blog or the associated group blog, Larry Correia' s blog (at one point he offered his own workshop/class), and maybe the CFLA group on FB (or maybe associated Small Government group on goodreads)

It would be good to get reviews / recs from people who've attended before shelling out your own money

Plotting - what techniques have you tried? Some people like the snowflake (heh) method.
Or there's the " what's the worst that could happen?" and then make it happen.
You can start a thread on our goodreads group on workshops, or structure, or plot?

263 Trump has actually benefited more than any other candidate this primary season from rules that have granted him a higher percentage of delegates than the popular vote would suggest. But I don't hear a lot of people bitching about that. Most people don't really give a crap about the rules of a primary. They just care who wins.

I think a lot of Trump supporters overestimate his appeal. It is getting more selective by the day.
Posted by: JackStraw at April 12, 2016 10:13 AM (/tuJf)

Jack that's just an artifact of proportional vs WTA states. That's not a "rule" that's "benefiting" Trump, it's just how delegate assignation works.

It's not an overestimation of his appeal, it's the simple fact that there's no other non-socialist populist option, and that opposition to him is irrational. I'm not saying it's not rational - I'm saying that it manifests itself in highly emotional, aesthetic ways. For instance, his stated policies are right-wing red meat. But his ideological opponents simply dismiss them as "meaningless pandering."

That's a whole other conversation, my point is, it's an irrational response. It's a dodge, a dismissal.

Realizing what he has done, Schumer takes the only sensible step and announces that candidacy rules mean nothing to the Democrats and that he is the smarmy politician who can save the party. Elizabeth Warren tries to make a grab for the mike but Chuck grabs her arm and rips it off, exclaiming "That's how its done!"

Michelle Fields swoons at the sight of Sen. Warren's bloody arm being waved about and proclaims her undying devotion to the Democrats, the remainder of the press following suit. Hosanna's fill the air as Sen. Schumer breaks into a chant of "Death to All Who Oppose!"

in general. Throw in an opaque political process in CO and people are
angry. That doesn't mean Trump's campaign wasn't horrible in the state.
People though go to vote and then find out the people they choose can
do whatever they want. Most people don't follow politics 24/7. They
are going to find that process rather undemocratic.

Posted by: WOPR - Nationalist at April 12, 2016 10:06 AM (n2GmV)

As you were excusing the death threats from Trump supporters in CO, it was a natural assumption that you were talking about CO en toto. The process in CO was not opaque. It has been widely publicized. And you are still buying Trump's lies. People didn't "find out" that delegates "could do whatever they want". Delegates were chosen by the voters at caucuses for the most part specifically because they supported one candidate or the other. It was no shock to those voters when the people they chose to specifically support Cruz went on to support Cruz.

Of course they are rules. Specifically, they are delegate apportionment rules. Just like Colorado has rules. You may not like them, Trump is just learning them, but they were announced last August.

>>t's not an overestimation of his appeal, it's the simple fact that there's no other non-socialist populist option, and that opposition to him is irrational. You keep saying versions of this over and over and it's utter nonsense. The simple fact is many, many people are very familiar with Trump's history and background and don't believe his 11th hour conversion to conservative principles. This is a guy who had numerous illegal aliens working on his new Trump hotel in DC while he was announcing that he was going to throw all the illegals out of the country before saying he would let the good ones back in.

There is absolutely nothing irrational or emotional about not supporting a guy who claims he can be whatever he wants to be, who changes his positions constantly and who spent most of his life as a proud, pro-choice NY liberal. In fact, that is the rational thing to do.

Believing a guy who has a history of changing his positions depending on the current circumstances, well I'll let you decide how rational that is.

So now Cruz is Socialist?
Are you kidding?

And Trump's statements other then "build a wall" over all have been moderate at best. And that was just a few weeks ago.

In terms of out right political principles, Cruz is more conservative. There is no emotion involved in that.

At the same time, it does not take much to see that Trump's organization failed massively to adapt to a system that changed last August in Colorado.

Either he and his organization was incompetent, or he just plain got his butt kicked, and he is the biggest sore loser in the Country and is lying about it, because that's is all he has got to cover for it. I believe the latter, because it keeps.his name in the news, which is his primary tactic. "Say something outrageous so they have to talk about me".
