7 Good morning Morons!

There were a few new polls released, however the nature of the race remains unchanged. Hillary Clinton's numbers inched down slightly, but so did Trump's.

RCP average has Clinton at 49.4% and Trump at 38.6% for a differential of -10.8%. This is the worst Trump has scored in the RCP average in the last 2 weeks.

Cook released new House ratings, but there are no changes. Currently the GOP will lose at least 4 in the Senate and 12 in the House.

As a resident of WI I completely disagree with your view. WI also has a democratic primary tomorrow and a big Supreme Court race. Hillary & Bernie are fighting out over the airwaves. Usually by the time April rolls around we are not a player in the game.

13 Listening to Fox on the way in this morning, there were a few thoughts that came to mind...

1) Trump is having the women in his life campaigning for him in Wisconsin today. They had on an "independent" pollster today, and she was speculating on how this will help Trump with his polling numbers. They did mention that Trump is 30/68 fav/unfav with women right now. Call me skeptical, but I'm not seeing getting his wife and daughter on the trail on the final day cutting into this deficit much.

2) Bret Baier seems a little shocked by the change in the race. He was talking about the new poll that only showed Cruz up by 6 in WI. Then started talking about MOE trying to convince that WI is actually tied. Good luck with that.

3) "I'm going to be so presidential that you won't believe it". Is anyone else just dog tired of this rhetorical tic, or is it just me? Yo, Donald, how about you actually act presidential instead of talking about some hypothetical in the future? You are right about one thing though, I *wouldn't* believe it.

14 This got willowed...

When will republican candidates learn that the first thing they should do when running for office is to pay jwest a 5 million dollar retainer? Trump fell into the abortion trap and didn't have me around to get him out.

OK, Donald... This one's for free. It's a little late, but if I had been on speed dial after you made the gaff with Chris Matthews, here's what I would have told you to say:

"The Mathews interview just goes to show how differently we think about things. Of course I want the woman getting an abortion punished, along with the doctor and receptionist and the nurse and guy renting them the building.

When Chris asked that question, he apparently was thinking about it as a democrat, who view abortion as the quick, easy procedure it is in the first trimester. When I think of abortion, I think of Kermit Gosnell murdering babies that were born alive for money.

First trimester abortions are settled law and although there is a portion of the republican party who believe life begins at conception, we all realize that there is a lot of work to bring the societal changes necessary to revisit that decision.

However, we republicans will never, for a minute, accept the barbaric practice of late term abortion that Hillary Clinton defends and promotes. Killing innocent, fully developed babies for the convenience of the mother is something that I feel needs to be punished just as any other murder.

Of course, most of the public hasn't heard of the atrocities committed in the name of "unfettered" rights to an abortion, because the news media conspired to cover up the details, but I will not be silenced on this subject.

Hillary Clinton should be ashamed to support this form of senseless killing and the news media should feel guilty of hiding this problem from the public."

**************

Take what is always the democrat's abortion fear button issue away by highlighting late term abortions and their support of it. Turn the tables. Whenever a reporter brings up abortion, ask them what coverage they gave the Gosnell story.

Very quickly, there will be no more talk of abortion.

One great thing about having the Bern challenging Hillary is that it forces Dem voters to focus on their own candidates. If Hill was the only game in town, a lot more Dems would cross over because they want Trump to be the nominee. The Dems who will vote for Trump tomorrow are the ones who really do like him. The Bernie (and Hill) true believers want their candidtate o win Wisconsin more than they want to f with the GOP nomination.

Anyone here know what it's like to be questioned by the FBI?

It's not like Chuck Todd, where you can say, "Well, it's just a wrong set of assertions and conclusions." It's not even like the U.S. Congress, where you can slither around Chris Stevens's pleas for more security by Hillsplaining that his emails were a joke.

Aren't those FBI guys/gals different? Don't they get close in on things? Don't they cut you off mid-sentence if you stare down your nose and start your weary recitation of How Things Are In High Places That You Don't Understand? Don't they press and squeeze until you either cough up a fact or plead 1) amnesia, or 2) the Fifth?

As a CILLS student, she will be getting the full college experience as soon as she steps foot on the ESU Campus in the fall, WNEP-TV reported.

This is pretend college. It's actually a vocational and life-skills program. Assuming this program is accredited (which it appears to be), the graduates will get something called a B.A., but employers who interview them will know exactly what they're getting.

No one could possibly have any objection to such a program, but the B.A. is a different matter. I'd give them some sort of Certificate and send them on their innocent and productive way.

101 Who can seek redress against a DOJ infraction of judicial procedure? Can the FBI find a federal judge to block it?

The DOJ has to fight it. Will they? I'm doubtful.

Among other issues, this creates the very real possibility of collusion among the subjects. They have a single person coordinating their stories.

It also creates a conflict of interest that flies in the face of a fair and impartial hearing. Consider those Baltimore cops. Now consider what would have happened in any plea arrangement or trial proceeding if all of them were represented by the same attorney.

This is the first time I've seen any actual sign that the DOJ is going try and Jedi Mind Trick this thing away.

Does the DOJ call foul when that happens?

Second question, that tactic doesn't always work, does it? At a minimum, the FBI will be able to compare date/time/identity of goon's access to SCIF with date/time/sender of emails loaded with SCIF info. And that is when the goons' interests diverge, and someone takes it into their head that they need separate counsel.

132 "Let's talk asset allocation..."

This is a line from a current advertisement that features a DJ who gets a hair cut and puts on a suit to fool people into thinking he is an experienced money manager.

I fear our host and a number of commenters act the same way as the people in the commercial. They see the trappings of office and automatically endow the individual with the expertise associated with it.

"I would indeed trust you with my money..."

Ted Cruz is a lawyer. He's only been in office for a short time. Lawyers are, by nature, people who not only can't make deals, but are driven to fuck up every deal within a five mile radius.

When someone like Trump comes along, they don't know how link the success in one arena with the character traits that would make them successful in other endeavors - like public office.

However, by the same token, they never seem to realize how the people already in office may be totally unqualified for any position.

Case in point:

Tim Walberg is a rock-solid conservative with over 20 years in public office as a State representative and U.S. congressman. He has a record on issues that would make him more attractive to serious conservatives than Ted Cruz or John Kasich.

The problem is, Tim Walberg is an idiot. I know this guy and I'm not exaggerating. I wouldn't hire this guy to wash my car. However, there he is, in office. Just like the DJ, he doesn't have a clue about anything. To give you a scale to go by, this guy is as stupid as Ace thinks Sarah Palin is.

But if the convention became deadlocked and someone brought up this idiot's name, that same group of AoSHQ people would look at his record as hail him as the next Reagan.

The lesson is not to take someone at face value, for good or bad.

They seem to think that THIS TIME it will be different.

Here we have someone who will shake things up, which could only be for the better, but some are afraid.

Do they think that North Korea is really going to launch a first strike because of Trump? Are we going to be better off with trade agreements made by the people who got Obama elected?

The federal government is so out of control and bloated that anyone with a modicum of common sense and who is not beholden to the status quo can make incredible, earth-shaking changes for the better.

But in the process, we may embarrass Ace.

Just, shut up.

His abortion positions were
"IF abortion were illegal THEN women should be punished for getting them" which is perfectly logical and hits the PP crowd right in the solar logicus. This changed to
"IF abortions were illegal THEN doctors should be punished" which is a 100% legitimate position. And then he said
"I'm not gonna try to make abortion illegal, though" NOR SHOULD HE try to do that with all the work that needs to be done on every other front in the culture war. Let the left hang taxpayer-funded abortion on demand around their necks.

Let's just ignore the FACT that the rules committee is made up of only 112 members, who are, of course, also delegates.

I guess that means the rules ARE up to the delegates, just not ALL the delegates.

Look, we've seen this happen in 2008 on the Donk side. Rules committee stripped delegates from Hillary and awarded them to Obama, even in states he did not compete in.
GOP watched that and took notes.

193 The GOP Convention Rules Committee makes the rules. It's the first thing that happens, before any voting. They are all GOP insiders

Wake up and smell the treachery.

Y-Not already addressed this a couple comments ago, but the rules committee is made up 100% from the elected delegates from the state conventions happening now. They are not selected by the RNC. The state delegations select their own members for the various committees. If the rules are adopted that are favorable to Cruz and not to Trump, then it is because Cruz did a better job of tracking and getting delegates favorable to his campaign elected at the state conventions. Trump has only himself to blame for getting out organized. He ignored this part of the process, assuming it was irrelevant.

The last person to organize state by state to make sure the delegates lined up in his favor was Obama. People forget that 2008 wasn't decided until California that year.

The point is not to insult Trump (whom id rather have than Hillary). The point is to bring up an example of strong countrywide support for someone liberals would never believe could come to power. It's the eventualities you don't see coming that necessitate these fundamental protections.

209 Dear Female Soccer Players,

Please read an economics book. If 10 million people watch men's soccer every season, and 900,000 people watch women's soccer every season, the value of your product will be lower and you will earn less.

If you want more money because you are women, tell more women to watch your sport.

Otherwise, start taking your shirts off again after every goal.

I've thought about this scenario you paint, thought about it too much actually. I am a Cruzer now, (one of those goofy looking cars that look like an old delivery vehicle).
As I think about it, Cruz is the PT Cruiser, and Trump is the behemoth Sedan with tail fins. Hillary is a battered Explorer, and Bernie is a Yugo, or probably a Fiat, the car from Hell.
But I digress. Should I really stay home, rick, if they steal a nomination? What to do, what to do......

Posted by: kraken at April 04, 2016 10:35 AM (sdxPm)

257 Cruz will not get enough delegates for an outright nomination. That is certain.

Therefore Cruz's ONLY PATH to winning is by keeping Trump below the threshold and then swiping his delegates in a brokered convention.

My estimate is that Cruz will top out at 750 to 800 delegates, which means he is banking on swiping about a third of Trump's delegates (and anticipating also getting Kasich and Rubio delegates).

Now some people may think that is a winning strategy for the general election, I call it suicide. No different than the GOPe plan to replace both Trump and Cruz with someone else.

268 The blockade against a hearing for Garland may not be all that practically important. Today the Supreme Court thru out the challenge to the 1-warmbody-1-vote redistricting principle launched out of Arizona. What that means is that SINCE Scalia's death, the 4-4 Supreme Court has UPHELD the biggest remaining two principles of 'mob' democracy: public sector unions having the right to deduct union dues from public sector workers (upheld by tie, which meanings 90% of the nation's public sector workers will continue to be subject to union dues deductions), and TODAY, the UNANIMOUS decision of the Court to dismissing a powerful tool for increased gerrymandering of state-drawn Congressional districts.

So now it appears that one of the unanticipated consequences of the Senate Republican Majority blockade against Garland is that it's even pissing off the conservative judges on the Supreme Court, to the point where they're signalling their intention to side with the court's liberals on certain key challenges until the blockade ends.
