Are the Global Warmistas Simply Juicing Up the Latest Years' Temperatures With "Adjustments" While Reducing the Temperatures of Previous Years, To Always Make the Current Year "The Hottest"?

Sure seems that way -- and people have noticed this tendency in their ever-changing adjustments to the temperature record.

But now they may have gone too far -- in order to declare 2015 the "hottest on record," they apparently had to revise and "adjust" the previously declared all-time "hottest on record," 1997.

Because 1997 was more than three and half degrees warmer than 2015 -- going by NOAA's published data.

If they've now adjusted 1997's temperature down by three and a half degrees or more -- thus making the former All Time Hottest Year On Record not particularly hot -- this should be the lead, no?

And this would then reveal a lot of about their practices, where the "adjustments" made to the numbers change so much depending on current political messaging needs, and where all the warming comes from the "adjustments," and not the actual temperature records themselves.

15 I've been an avid follower of the global warming issue since the late '90s. What was first just a "blink" moment when I thought, "This thing smells wrong" has now become, to my view anyway, a complete scam. I think it's the greatest scam in the scientific community in my lifetime (though the ozone hole was right up there).

Science has no more right to reverence than anything else. It is as full of corrupt, self-serving people as, again, anything else. The hope for it has always been the market of ideas forces. In the global warming scam, they have worked desperately to repudiate this. They are totalitarians and many of the leaders are bad men (and they're all men).

But they haven't been able to quash voices like Tony Heller (RealScience), Anthony Watts (Watts Up with that) and the one female voice in the debate, Judith Curry. God bless them all.

To fight the horde, singing and crying
Valhalla, I am coming!
On we sweep with threshing oar
Our only goal will be the western shore
Ah, ah
We come from the land of the ice and snow
From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow
How soft your fields so green
Can whisper tales of gore
Of how we calmed the tides of war
We are your overlords
On we sweep with threshing oar
Our only goal will be the western shore
So now you'd better stop and rebuild all your ruins
For peace and trust can win the day
Despite of all your losing

Seriously, what the hell does some tree rings from a hundred years (or more) ago have to do with the world's climate a hundred years or more in the future? But 'skeptics' get sucked into debating it.

Trump is all about "The Deal." It's what he gets off on . . . making "deals."

So yes, he will sell out anybody who believes his bullshit.

The question is, will he drive a good enough bargain that we will be better off with him than with, say, Cruz?

I confess that (no longer having Maet's Magic 8-Ball), I can not tell the future and know the answer to that question for sure.

The next question is, will a Trump "deal" be better than what we'll get with Sanders (or with Hillary)?

My guess is maybe yes to that but I'm not at all sure there, either.

I don't know.

221 As I've missed all the appropriate posts, I'll throw it here.

Oliver Cromwell to the Long Parliament:

"It is high time for me to put an end to your sitting in this place, which you have dishonored by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice; ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government; ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money.

Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? Is there one vice you do not possess? Ye have no more religion than my horse; gold is your God; which of you have not barter'd your conscience for bribes? Is there a man amongst you that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth?

Ye sordid prostitutes have you not defil'd this sacred place, and turn'd the Lord's temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and wicked practices? Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation; you were deputed here by the people to get grievances redress'd, are yourselves gone! So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors.

In the name of God, go!"

225 This may just be wacko conspiracy talk from me, but I have been monitoring Accuweather's reports for a couple of sites for four years now, and in November '15, they abruptly changed the historical highs for one of the locations down 2 degrees. This even though the preceding period was "hottest on record", so if anything the historical average should have been rounded up. They followed that up later by going back and changing the historical highs farther back in time to match this change.

245 I like reading English history. They had a lot of civil wars and are not bashful about it. They fought each other and they fought their neighbors.

That's the problem with Kings. When you get a bad one, you can't get rid of him. When you get a good one, the bad ones want to take over the place.

And when the old king dies, there is often a war among the family over which son or daughter, or bastard offspring will be the next king.

Good times.

I can cut the mid-Atlantic some sack for their Chicken Little behavior because the weather is much more capricious and weird here. In the Midwest you know you're going to be blanketed by the White Death every winter and can prepare accordingly. Here, you never know what you're going to get.

Still -- have some shelf-stable stuff in your larder at all times, idiots. By which I mean booze and terlit paper.

350 It's worse than that, about half the data doesn't even actually exist. It's computer generated.

When Goddard first said this, no one believed him, including me. I downloaded the data myself, wrote a script, and found, yep, 43% were marked as computer-generated by NCDC. Just staggering. I posted my code on his site.

What followed was a hilarious round of Goddard being condemned, even by skeptics, a really weird Politifact piece in which they found an expert who said there was no computer generation of data at all (duh, it says there is right on the NCDC site!), and then over the next week everyone was forced to admit, yes, Goddard was right.

Posted by: TallDave at January 21, 2016 11:19 PM (74ZYB)

351 BTW here's the classic animated GIF that shows the data tampering. Goddard has newer, better ones too, but this is the original killer GIF.

It's not about Trump per say, it's about taking out someone who interferes with then collecting delegates, they have to kill one or the other, they'd love to kill both, but I think they've decided "for now" they've failed trying to kill trump, so kill the other one that is stealing votes (and likely some delegates) from their other guys. It's as simple as that, they can't have them both in the race come mid march and have a prayer of any take all states, with Cruz gone they think it'll be easier to have united\consolidated front then against Trump.

Posted by: ThisBeingMilt at January 22, 2016 05:37 AM (MbrzC)

353 By their own data, 1997 was NOT the hottest year on record either. That happened back in the 1930's. They had already juiced the numbers to lower the temps in the '30's and hike the temps in the '90's to make the '90's "warmer" than the '30's, which their own raw data proves was warmer.

Oh, and "on record" - the records only go back a century and a quarter, lol.
