Uhhh... First hour, great episode, very creepy.

Half hour resolution -- horrible, typical Moffat-throw-everything-at-the-screen-when-you-have-no-ending-nonsense.

I was also disappointed to find out that the Moriarity resolution I expected is in fact the actual Moriarity resolution. Although it's the only real solution, I was hoping they would just make up some bs to paper over the other solution. Like, even though the other solutions are stupid, I would have accepted that stupidity.

Actually, Ace, that recent episode of "Sherlock" was indeed one of the very few TV shows I've watched in months and months.

You neglected to mention that about 2/3 through it became a feminist rant - -the "secret society" turned out to be a bunch of suffragettes, who were naturally heroic and wise, and Mycroft said that "we as a society NEED TO LOSE this battle" against the mysterious cabal - -i.e. super-smart Mycroft championed feminism back in the 1890s! A lot of crap like that. I gave up caring even before the nonsensical time-travel ending. PC overdose.

Honestly after season 3 with the mind palace and Sherlock just straight up murdering a guy I was kinda already not liking the show, this christmas special just made it all the worse, im out until they get someone who isn't complete crap to write and direct.

On a somewhat related note, Elementary is fan-fucking-tastic and is written by Conservative leaning people (they did a whole episode on gamergate and came down on the pro side of it).

Also you should check out the magicians a new SyFy series coming out at the end of the month, the book series its based on is really good.

65 Took my new-to-me 1976 TR6 out for its first spin today. Runs pretty rough due to sticking valves, and boy, howdy! do the brakes ever squeal. But it stops. Put twenty bucks' worth of premium in the tank, and darn near filled it full. Added a bottle of Marvel Mystery Oil, too.

It's back in the garage. Maybe sitting overnight will give the magic oil a chance to eat the varnish off the valve stems.

i don't think they were on the pro side of gamergate, but I'm always surprised that every time Elementary goes into some political intrigue (which is frequent, actually), they write the episode in such a way as to not piss me off at all.

They legitimately do not take sides, and the introduction of a political point is not *for* the political point, but just to establish motive, explore some organization, etc.

The show is really very, very even-handed. I keep expecting to get suck-punched, and they keep on not sucker-punching me.

84 I learned some new stuff about Peyronie's Bill today. His "signature" is biting the upper lip of (at least) four women he lured.

That's got to be one of the worst excuses that an episode can offer: "Hey, don't worry that the plot became offensive at this point, because by now you will have stopped caring since the entire episode is incomprehensible and purposeless!"

I think it is garbage. The lefty filmmakers cherry picked the trial and all these idiots think they are legal experts and are demanding they be released. The transcripts to one of the trials (the 9 day one) was one line for a while. When I suggested they actually read it and the case opinions, I got called a liar, a troll, and received death threats. That's the type of people who are baying for blood.

There was a 19 day trial with over 50 wits ad a 9 day trial with I dont know how many wits. But the nutters think a doc that covered very little of the trials is accurate.

Hopefully next winter it's a redo of the interior and then paint. Only get to play with it in the summer up here but a great car to play around with.

122 Caught "John Wick". Not bad, not bad at all. Good straight forward shoot em up that wasn't tedious. I really liked the economical script and decent acting that allowed for lightly drawn characterization to give you all you needed to know about people and situations, without a dumptruck load of exposition and yak yak backstories. Very well made and entertaining. Didn't expect to like it, but I did.

Yeah, right on both counts. I re-kitted the carburetors, and they seem to be working fine. And the distributor is a real chimera: lucas base, with the tach drive gear in it, a Prestolite body on that, with a Mopar reluctor and pickup, driving a GM HEI module. And it works.

You can hear]/i] when the sticky valve(s) frees up temporarily. There's a snap, and the rolling idle smooths right out.

You hit the nail on the head -- that's EXACTLY the issue I have.

Around here (SF Bay Area), a common bumper sticker is, "UNIONS -- we're the folks who invented the weekend!"

The implication being that, hey, since during the Industrial Revolution people were forced to work six or seven days per week in the factory, you need to totally support the unions NOW, 150 years later, because we did something good long long ago!

Same with feminism. The modern progressives always argue, "Since we helped to bring an end to awful 1950s sexism, you MUST support our 21st-century agenda as well!"

They do it in every aspect of politics. That's what was happening with that Sherlock episode.

It was a thing of beauty. So economical, yet so informative without saying much. There were quite a few characters, but I "got" every single one of them with so very few lines. The character's relationships to each other and/or to Wick came across with no fuss and no babble. All implied. Wonderful work and this is how such flicks should be done.

Ugh. I gave up on it after the second season. They were already flirting with the "Magical Asian Woman" trope a little too much for comfort but in appreciation of the superb performance by Johnny Lee Miller, I let it slide. In the end, however, when they force-shifted Watson's character into Holmes's deductive equal, I could take no more.

She became a New-Wave Feminist wet dream of everything they believe a female character should be. She was the episodic personification of every woman in every TV commercial who is burdened with an idiot husband.

This is why I will always prefer Sherlock over Elementary. Watson is supposed to serve as a cipher for the audience. A sort of normal person whom we can relate to and view the fantastic elements of Holmes and his world. There was never supposed to be anything hyper-competent or special about him. This is also why I loathed the new Star Wars film. Rey as perfect Goddess and feminist wish-fulfillment is boring. She's an expert pilot, speaks at least four languages (one of which is wookie!?!?), an expert mechanic, a crack shot, morally pure and righteous, lethal hand to hand combatant, oh and also picks up the nuances of the Force in about 5 minutes of screen time. Wake me when she breaks a nail.
