"Undisputed PR Leader for the Progressive Movement" Shuts Down After Claims of Rampant Sexual Harassment and Even Sexual Assault

Don't worry, though -- because he's a progressive, this is just One Man's Transgression. This will not be part of any narrative about a War on Women from the dishonest, sneaky, sometimes assaulty cads of the allegedly "feminist" left.

By the way, I have no idea if this is true, of course. We've seen absurd allegations cast about by a cadre of young women now trained to believe that being sexually assaulted is part of their Rite of Passage (and if they're not assaulted, there must be something wrong with them, right?).

Still... shutting down the whole operation?

And... there are multiple accusers. I know there were multiple accusers in Salem, too, but still.

FitzGibbon Media, a prominent progressive public relations firm, abruptly shut down on Thursday amid allegations of sexual harassment and assault by the company's president.

Trevor FitzGibbon and his team worked with some of the biggest progressive organizations, including NARAL, MoveOn, the Center for American Progress and the AFL-CIO, as well as Wikileaks, Chelsea Manning and The Intercept. The company sponsored an event with The Huffington Post earlier this year.

Multiple female employees came forward with accusations of sexual harassment and assault against FitzGibbon, according to employees who spoke with The Huffington Post.

A statement from FitzGibbon staffers read:

Former FitzGibbon Media Staffers Respond to Sexual Assault and Harassment Allegations Against Trevor FitzGibbon

The team that comprised FitzGibbon Media is incredibly sad and disappointed to confirm that allegations have been made against Trevor FitzGibbon, FitzGibbon Media founder and President, for sexual assault and harassment of multiple female staffers. Staffers reported over a half dozen incidents of sexual harassment and at least two involving sexual assault committed by Trevor FitzGibbon against his own employees.

For decades, Trevor presented himself a champion of the progressive movement, claiming to support and respect women and feminist issues, from equal pay to reproductive rights, but his actions prove a hypocrisy so great that FitzGibbon Media closed its doors today, as we could no longer continue working under his leadership. We lost our jobs standing up for what’s right, to ensure a safe workplace for all -- and while we may have been left without jobs, benefits and long-term healthcare, we have our integrity and each other.

We are devastated to see our beloved place of work closed at the hands of such a coward and hope to continue working on the social and political issues we love and care so deeply for in the future.

The guy faced harassment allegations at a previous firm.

The Huffington Post details the "harassment" part of the charges. He pressured women seeking jobs to send him photos and asked them up to his hotel room -- during the hiring process, apparently. (One woman refused to send him a "maxim" style picture as he requested, stating that she was working hard to be hired by him, and that doing so would "taint" any eventual employment.)

He told her that it was okay because he was "the boss" and so no one would know about it.

Several women say he pressured them for "hugs" and photos and of course hotel room visits.

The "assault" claims seem to involve sudden groping of the breasts. Or rather, one does, per the Huff Po, and then it says another claim is "similar."

And now for a little reminder of how "progressive" progressive cultures really are-- just as in Soviet Russia, everyone was equal, except that high members of the party got the good apartments and cars and all the other benefits of wealth.

Similarly, the progressive movement is very anti-rape -- except if you tell on a high member of the movement, in which case you fear you'll be drummed out of the movement entirely.

Amazing stuff here, also at the Huff Po.

Those ties also prevented some of these women from initially talking about what happened to them.

"If I stopped interacting with all the men in the progressive movement who made inappropriate statements or advancements to me in this business, I'd be nowhere
," said a former FitzGibbon client.

">b>I couldn't speak up because I was afraid of retaliation -- that I would get fired if I spoke up," added a female FitzGibbon staffer...

"This is probably a story you could tell at 15 other organizations," said a former Fenton employee who worked with FitzGibbon. "There are probably 20 other Trevors in our progressive movement in Washington.""

Exit Question:

How could it be that women working as part of a political movement ostensibly so dedicated to fighting rape culture would fear being ostracized and shunned if they reported on the alleged sexual harassment of one of the Kings of Anti-Rape Culture?

How could it be that sexual harassment is rampant in this movement?

How could there be twenty "Trevors" in a movement so dedicated to women's sexual autonomy?

Why, it's almost as if cult leaders become cult leaders for the power and the access to women.

It's the Clinton shield: if you are a democratic/'progressive' male you are allowed to do whatever you want and the people who pretend to care about women don't give a shit. Because they don't actually care about women. Or they would be talking about islam, not frat boys.

Get some Goddamned due process going so you have something other than rumors and propaganda - oh, and guess who has the heavy hand on the propaganda stick...

Now, for a long time we on the right have been scratching our head wondering why the left keeps yelling about rape and harassment they constantly undergo because, frankly, we don't treat women that way and respect them because they are women - its part and parcel of the traditional old fashioned concept of gender roles.

104 In this particular case-if true- it was "Stalin" Fitzgibbon who was doing the assaulting so it's different.

This is why you should never give up on all Democrats. Poster Votermom and I both had political conversions in 2008 (but not because of sexual assault) because of actions of the Democrats and learning about Obama. I know women who became conservatives after they felt Hillary was given the shaft in 2008. You never know how or when people will see the light. It might happen in this case too. If true- as Ace indicated- there's a huge disconnected between what they say they believe and what they do. Can give a person pause for thought. The war on women is being carried out by many progressive men.

109 Also, after seeing all the rape and literal crap coming out of the Occupy thingy

This is true, many rape reports and many more unreported because of the cause. I have read several reports of women who were raped by leftist groups but were silent about it because they didn't want to harm the cause. At least some women, perhaps many, feel deep down they deserved it at some level because of some provocative behavior or clothing, in some twisted psychological logic. Its not until much later you hear about it or read when they turn against the movement.

How much of this is going on, that we don't know about? Its one more reason to push in the face of the nearest lefty.

142 Maybe this was obvious to everyone else, but its making a lot of sense to me why women on the left are always screaming and complaining. If this is what they were raised in with uncle redlegs groping her on his lap and daddy visiting her room and telling her to lie back and think of Che, no wonder they're so messed up about men and constantly whining about how women are treated.

I grew up with a family and culture in a church where women were respected, honored, protected, and treated with kindness. I grew up in a culture where you didn't grope women or hit on them constantly. But apparently that's not the world these women know -- or these men.

I'm a peaceful man. I've never been in a fight in my life. I've been beaten on but did not fight back because I don't believe in it. But I'll hurt someone badly if they treat a woman like that. I'll dive in fists first if someone is mistreating a little girl. That makes me see a red haze and all reason slides away.

203 This reminds me of a couple articles I read a while back. My memory on the specifics is a little vague now, but one was a sort of biography of Jane Fonda, which went into all the exploitative behavior of the libertine artists and filmmakers whose circles she ran in, her ex-husband pushing her into three-ways that she always hated, and her misery throughout all this. The other was an article on girls who worked/lived in the Playboy mansion, talking about the sort of authoritarian monitoring they were under, given very limited freedom to leave without a chaperon and with very small stipends to spend freely. I'm personally not very moralistic about such things, but I can't help but notice that the institutions of the left seem to be pretty top-heavy with sexually predatory males.

Even comparing the extra-marital affairs of Republican and Democrat politicians, guys like Rudy Giuliani and Mark Sanford had affairs with age-mate women who ultimately they wounded up leaving their wives for, while Bill Clinton, Elliot Spitzer, and Anthony Wiener used women of low social status to get off a couple times, and in Clinton's case went on to denounce and destroy the young woman with the collaboration of his wife.

273 The Root of the Problem
is not hard to find.

The Left has always worked to abolish morality, religion, and family. Women are to be shared equally among the proletarian men.

Feminists are supposed to fight against the old, white, rich, powerful men (the
bourgeoisie). And they shall make themselves freely sexually available
to men 'of the Resistance'.

Or did you think that Leftism and sexual promiscuity just happened to go together by chance?

The evidence is all here in black and white...

From the Communist Manifesto (184 Marx-Engels:

"Law, morality, religion, are to him [the proletariat] so many bourgeois prejudices, behind which lurk in ambush just as many bourgeois interests."

"Communism .. abolishes all religion and all morality, instead of constituting them on a new basis; it therefore acts in contradiction to all past historical experience."

"The bourgeois family will vanish as a matter of course when
its complement vanishes, and both will vanish with the
vanishing of capital."

"But you Communists would introduce community of women, screams the whole bourgeoisie in chorus... The Communists have no need to introduce community of women; it has existed almost from time immemorial... Our bourgeois, not content with having the wives and daughters of their proletarians at their disposal, not to speak of common prostitutes, take the greatest pleasure in seducing each other's wives. Bourgeois marriage is in reality a system of wives in common, and thus, at the most, what the Communists might possibly be reproached with, is that they desire to introduce, in substitution for a hypocritically concealed, an openly legalized community of women.
