All of LA's 800+ Schools Shut Down Over "Credible" Terror Threat

A "credible" threat which, by its basic nature, seems not so credible. This happens a lot at schools. I hate to be That Guy who just says "Teenagers!," but, you know: "Teenagers!"

Here's what I think: Owing to the unserious manner with which liberal governments have handled terrorism, they are now required, politically, to treat seriously threats which probably are not all that serious.

That's the way it always works. When you get caught acting incompetently or unseriously, you then have to put on a great show about how competent and serious you are now, by overreacting to things. Al Gore and John McCain both got caught taking dirty campaign money -- and then, wouldn't you know it, they both became the eagerest little beavers for something called Campaign Finance Reform. Surprisingly enough!

Why, it's almost as if, having been caught dirty, they had to overreact to everything to show how clean they were.

A government which was doing the small things rights would not feel the need to put on a Security Theater show to Reassure the Masses.

Update: The IP of the email the threat came from is located in Germany.

Eh, I guess that adds something to the "credibility."

Ace wrote, "A government which was doing the small things rights would not feel the need to put on a Security Theater show to Reassure the Masses." I hate that word, 'the Masses' almost as much as I hate the word 'consumer', for much the same reasons.

Many years ago (decades ago, actually), I was dating a girl attending the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. I drove up from Indianpolis every weekend: she was that awesome. We were invited to this party where, at one point, these very entitled, very liberal young adults were talking about Third World poverty. This one kid, a law student, started going on about how The Masses didn't truly know how poor they were since poverty was all they knew and thereforethey had no basis for comparison.

While this uber-liberal twit was going on about The Masses, I remembered (and still remember) this little girl I saw in a bad part of Istanbul when I was in the Army. She was about eight or nine and wore hardly more than rags and wasdrawing water from a neighborhood well, the kind where you had to pump the water by hand. It was winter time andthis kidwas barefooted,up to her ankles in freezing water. She made me shiver just watching her. She knew what poverty was. She knew how bad she had it.

My then-girlfriend was watching my face and got me out of there before I did or said somethingstupid.

Anyway, that's howthe Leftviews us, you know: The Masses, which I gather is defined as that which they are not.

Around here, they lock down the schools and terrorize the kids if someone is jaywalking 5 miles away ... "just in case". They also shut down the schools if there is even the prediction of an inch of snow. Pretty much no saving to the taxpayer.

Most school employees are Salaried... plant costs are fixed... even heating and cooling is automatic.

And most Union contracts have stipulations that if the employer sends you home for some reason... you still get paid...

A variant is the tyranny of experts i.e. so that no municipal bureaucrat can be accused of laxity, they must all adopt "official" standards for everything, so that every intersection on dusty road must be wide enough to accommodate two firetrucks going in opposite directions, have double lane markings, a blinking light, a zebra crosswalk and a bumpy ramp access for wheelchairs.

314 A shark jumping event has taken place in LA today.

An email is now considered as credible by that nutty old fella, aka the superintendent who promptly shut down the 2nd largest school district.
The mayor is now stating that he did not shut it down due to an email, he is not so old and nutty as the superintendent so he will just vaguely back him on his shark jumping decision. Th mayor also says he does not want people like...Me, for instance, pointing out terrorists are now living rent free in their heads due to government utter incompetent or almost willful entry of said terrorists into this country.

I think its safe to say that a president has been set with this mass school closure. Any Tom, Dick, and Harry can now bounce an email from a location in Germany for these idiots in LA to shut it all down.

Now back to listening to this assembly line of LA leaders gush on about how the children are safe, safe, safe and to hopefully say it long enough and with the proper amount of feeling so that everyone else won't notice this idiotic decision.
