College Football Thread: Week 43 [CBD]

Well, there is a grand total of one big game this weekend, but it's a fairly important one: Army plays #21 Navy in Philadelphia at 3:00pm

[Photo Hat-Tip Nevergiveup}

These tanks are from the 4th Infantry Division, 3d Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment.
Nicknamed the "Hounds of Hell"
[Identification courtesy of Sean Bannion]

abrams-tank-920-51.jpg

Not much chance of identifying these ships, but they do look impressive.

And of course the video that proves that NAVY IS ILLUMINATI!

There are also two FCS games today:

Colgate vs. Sam Houston State.
The winner plays Jacksonville State in one semifinal.

UNI vs. North Dakota State.
The winner plays Richmond in the other semifinal.

For any NY/NJ Morons who are interested: there is a Moron Meet-up scheduled for December 18th, 6:00pm-9:00pm in the West Village.

Good Point... but as all the other teams field only Men, we find this to be a title 10 transgression...

And as the Navy takes pride in its Football Team, which is a Sin...

Thus Football is both Miscogynistic, and leads to the Sin of Pride, especially for those who play...

So we will no longer allow Football at the Naval Academy, in the interests of Morale...

But that Army "global force for good" commercial? Ugh. Gives me a creepy, Orwellian "new world order" vibe. The purpose of the Army is to kill people and break things. Ultimately, of course, the globe does benefit, but protecting America should be the Army's only responsibility.

As you can imagine, out in Utah the BYU coach leaving was big news. They have a rule that the BYU coaches have to live the church's values or something like that, so they can pretty much only recruit Mormon coaches. Everyone thinks they are going to try and poach Navy's coach. He was also in that doc "Meet the Mormons" so that has helped his buzz.

Now if only the new coach will stop letting BYU players play dirty and punch people on the field, we might be on to something...

174 106 First ship in the line looks to be either USS Porter DDG-78 or USS Oscar Austin DDG-79. Hard to read the hull number from the angle. Three of the others are also Arleigh Burke class destroyers and one of the others is a Ticonderoga class cruiser. Can't tell what the last one in formation is.
Posted by: Country Singer at December 12, 2015 03:27 PM (GUBah)

It is almost certainly the Porter. Oscar Austin is the first ship of the Flight IIA variant, and the aft SPY-1D radar array deckhouses are raised about 10 feet over hullls 51-78. It would be very noticeable in that picture - you wouldn't be able to look straight across the bridge wings, the raised deckhouses would get in the way.

In fact, all the destroyers look like 78 and earlier ships (Flight I and II), except for the CG.

Oh, you poor thing. They're all gone now, last one decommed in October.

I never served on Aegis - I was a DS originally and served on anAdams-class (Robison DDG-12), Spru-can (Fife DD-991), Kidd-class (Chandler DDG-996) and after disestablishment moved to a Carrier (JFK CV-67) and lastly a Large Deck Amphib (Nassau LHA-4).

I do a lot work on them now as a contractor. I was on Porter last year for a visit. She's now stationed at Rota, Spain. Had a big collision a coupe of years back, got hit right about where the forward deckhouse meets the foc'sle.
