Mitch McConnell: Gee Whiz But You're Not Gonna Believe This Guys, But We Just Don't Have the Numbers to Defund Planned Parenthood, Even Though, In Our Hearts, We Like Super Want To and Stuff

Allah says he's at least sparing us another performance of #FailureTheater.

I disagree. He's giving us a show, but a sloppy, completely-unrehearsed one, and he's phoning in his performance.

This Just In: We're expecting to give birth to an 8 pound, three ounce full reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank, so we have that to look forward to.

8 I predict that if it is looking like Trump could get the nomination, the GOPe is actively going to collude with Obama on many issues, to give the Chamber all the goodies it wants before the general election is held.

I believe we are getting close to full on sellout mode here.

It'd be safer for them to be scared of their own voters than it would be to be scared of Barack Obama But since they don't have the votes and they have no spines, they also have no fucking clue what to do and default to bowing down to Obama again since he's right there throwing their lack of spines directly into their faces every damn day.

'Scots, who have with Wallace bled,
Scots, whom Bruce has often led,
Welcome to your gory bed
Or to victory.
'Now is the day, and now is the hour:
See the front of battle lower (threaten),
See approach proud Edward's power -
Chains and slavery.
'Who will be a traitor knave?
Who will fill a coward's grave?
Who's so base as be a slave? -
Let him turn, and flee.
'Who for Scotland's King and Law
Freedom's sword will strongly draw,
Freeman stand or freeman fall,
Let him follow me.
'By oppression's woes and pains,
By your sons in servile chains,
We will drain our dearest veins
But they shall be free.
'Lay the proud usurpers low,
Tyrants fall in every foe,
Liberty is in every blow,
Let us do or die!'

82 Can't imagine why Trump is so popular with such feckless politicians in DC. Rush said today this is why Trump is popular despite him maybe not being conservative as some would like. Because a large portion of the population does not like the way the country is going and despite a landslide election is still going the same way, and is to the point that no one cares if it's a man, woman, dem or republican, someone that is willing to stand up and call BS. He gave the example of what's going on with Hillary. Drop, drip, drip. If this were a republican the democrats would be howling for indictment, but no republicans are calling for this. No one is calling for this, not even for her to answer for herself. And so the low indication voters think there's nothing to see here.

I think the GOPe would rather be in the minority.

They don't have to worry about their base, they don't have to pass anything, and they can just go along to get along. They're not ideological people, they're corrupt greedy people.

The Dems, OTOH are corrupt, greedy, AND ideological, which is... well, not exactly preferable, but their incentives all match up with their stated goals of growing government.

So McConnell would rather be the minority leader doing his own thing and not having to worry about pressure from voters then the majority leader under an R president and actually have to pretend to follow through on his campaign rhetoric.

As with all of these issues where Obama plans a veto if the bill gets to his desk:

Unless Democrat and Independent voters can convince the Dem
Representative in their district or Dem Senator in their state to vote
to override, Republicans will always lose these battles.

Therefore, the obvious solution is for conservatives to put together
voter education plans targeted at Democratic and Independent voters.

If some politician agreed with you on 99.999% of all issues, and yet that .001% of disagreement was the fact that he was an out and proud racist, you would never vote for him. Ever. Even though there is zero chance he could ever turn national policies backward, he would never hold office. Well, infanticide is worse than racism.

It's a timeless classic. And of course no one in the snooze media ever brings up the long string of previous dire last-chance warnings that didn't pan out.

What we need is a mechanism where a budget dispute doesn't involve a government shutdown.

That's 99% of the problem here, anytime there's a dispute like this with a Dem President and GOP Congress, they can just shut it down and eventually the public sides with the party of government. Even if the issue in dispute is unpopular like ObamaCare.

I just don't see the benefit of giving Obama this gift.

And yes, I do believe if we had a President like Scott Walker, Planned Parenthood would get its funding cut off.

- The Senate GOP does not have the power to defund (not even stop) an organization that literally profits off the organs they harvest from living, breathing babies.

- Senate GOP majority does not have the power to stop a deal that ensures the biggest state sponsor of terrorism to get nukes, which it has said they will use to "wipe Israel off the map."

As a former Connecticutian (? I don't know what we call ourselves) I can say that losing GE will be a major blow to a lot of people in fairfield county.

A lot of good six figure jobs are going to be migrating west.

Lucky, Fairfield county still has all of that hedge fund and wall street money and that industry seems to be doing -- well, er... yeah, maybe CT's tax revenues will be even more fucked going forward.

United Technologies is trying to pull a lot of their companies out of CT (Sikorsky, for example).

Pfizer downsized immensely, so now that old neighborhood in New London (from the Kelo case) is just weeds, and the old Pfizer campus in Groton is slowing to a crawl.

There have been rumors about Electric Boat and Pratt & Whitney pulling out completely.

And I think I read that Colt went bankrupt and is going to re-organize somewhere else. (right?)

So yeah, glad to be a "former CTer"

There is a lot of good. The underlying governmental structure is sound and lasted almost 200 years (including corruption),it just didn't get a good fumigation when it needed it.

Most of the people, the churches, the cops, etc are good.

The educational system needs a good bleaching, but there are good people in it.

Identify the infestation (leftists and corruptocrats) and destroy it. Never forget leftism/statism is an enemy concept that must constantly be rooted out and annihilated (I'm not going to specify the method). In principle, that is what Jefferson meant by the blood of patriots and tyrants.

The major mistake the patriots of the 40s-60s made was in assuming that communism was a foreign plot, and had to be associated with a foreign enemy. No, it's the concept of statism (especially leftist derived statism) that is hostile and dangerous to liberty.

But the good is going to constantly get backstabbed unless the bad is eliminated...not treated with, not compromised with, but eliminated. And there is always going to be the bad...a good portion of humanity is scumbag in soul.

Your occasional Medved report: OK, 2 minutes, in the car. Good enough. Michael is in full supercilious mode (his default when discussing certain topics), quoting Bret Stephens column about The Donald. Summer of year before election is clown time. GOP has not completely lost its mind so it won't pick Trump.

Oh, as he went to commercial break, he alluded to Nazis supporting Trump (I'm not kidding).

This from the radio host who, a few weeks ago, used his trademark heavy-handed contemptuous sarcastic tone as he implied that homicide rates in LA had bucked the rising national trend this year because .... you know, lots of illegals are there. (also not making that up)

With "conservative" non-MSM media like this, any wonder the country is dumbed-down beyond recognition?

Hey, didn't the latest batch of Hildabeast emails include some hilarious stuff about the Speaker? Lazy, drunk, cowardly, etc. were the words used, I believe. There were the frank comments of either Hill or one of her close associates in private emails.

Woulda thought ace would write that s**t up. Hilarious.

Haha, no.

America's fruit is rotten because we are rotten. "We" elected Obama. And that is our just reward.

339 Is there anything more useless than a Republican senator?

Posted by: Call me Ishmael at September 01, 2015 06:21 PM (oca9z)

340 just above half the people that actually voted, voted for the obamessiah. that includes the welfare and burrocrat parasites that get paid for voting democong. a lot of people dont vote for varied reasons, but let's be clear about one thing. the repukes LOST votes because they had a proven history of running RINOs and of a failure to confront the treason of the democong.

oblahblah should have been impeached after fast and furious, but wasn't. Mittens romney embarrassed the obamessiah in the first debate, then backed off in the next...I heard him say "The President is right" at least twice.

So you are saying that we should ALL be condemned because the statists and corruptocrats have been infesting and subverting the process for 50 years?

342 So you are saying that we should ALL be condemned because the statists and corruptocrats have been infesting and subverting the process for 50 years?

That's kind of how nations work. When we let the system fall into corruption, we all suffer.

Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty. Letting the Leftists take over the country wasn't vigilance.

You might say, "but it's not my fault"

I'm sure that'll make the Leftists stop killing babies in their abortion mills.

344 McConnell is living proof that Evil only happens when good people stand by and do nothing.

The worthless fuck won't even stand up against people who behead babies and sell the severed heads for profit! What's the fucking point of this asshole? I'm tired of being complicit, however indirectly, to this evil (and let's be clear this is Mengle/ISIS level shit) because our representatives don't have the guts to do what they were explicitly elected to do! He won't even fucking try! I hope he rots in hell for this. Fucking Coward!

345 IN any match between an issue and McConnell we know who the fuckEE is---the people who voted for and supported McConnell.

346 I heard Medved once ask Buchanan if the country would be any different if had been founded by Japanese. Apparently this was a gotcha question - if Buchanan said yes, then he was a racialist. It's an interesting hypothetical, but not really the gotcha Medved imagined. I suppose the premise was that everything stays the same, the history and the language, except change the bodies. The question does reveal how ahistorical and almost comical the neocon position is - we can utter change the people but nothing else will change. Not gonna happen.

McConnel is not a good person. He's the evil we're watching and doing nothing about.

348 Okay, Sooper Geniuses: is this just another road you demand we take that leads to your ONLY PLAN, shutting down the government?

Because ALL these complaints about what the congressional GOP has failed to do boil down to that, don't they? You want something passed, even to a sure veto, when we know it will be sustained by the Democrats. Takes 2/3 in House and Senate both to override, 290 and 67.

So how do you defund PP, force Obama to submit Iran deal as a treaty, do the budget things we want, without either encountering the veto or shutting down the government (which even Republican voters oppose)?

You can't. You got NOTHING. Sure, you are frustrated. So am I. The difference is I don't irrationally blame others for not having magic powers. You do. So I point and ridicule, then you direct your rage at me. But nothing changes. It wouldn't matter if Jim Jordan were Speaker and Ted Cruz Majority Leader. There would still be NOTHING to be done.

Elections matter. Obama won. He abuses power, but with the aid of his Democrats in Congress, he can get away with it. Blame public education - I do. But blaming me or Boehner or McConnell is just stupid. Sorry, that's the way it is. It's life: live it or live with it, your choice.

So make him veto it.

Oh wait, millions of babies butchered for Planned Parts isn't a Hill to Die On. If Obama vetoes your legislation, how will you enjoy collegial relations with your Democratic colleagues?!

So don't even fight. Just surrender and let Business continue as usual.

Go be proud of your realpolitik and imagined intellect ... but you and the GOPe are a bunch of yellow cowards and moral degenerates.

351 You know those sloppy, drunken performances I gave at the end of my life when I just didn't give a shit anymore? That's Mitch McConnell now.

Posted by: John Barrymore at September 01, 2015 09:36 PM (3//tw)

352 I think I figured out the disconnect. You get your hopes up. They get your hopes up then smash them...

Like I just got a call from a charity asking me to donate to buy some school shoes for poor kids... I have agreed other years. Every year for about 3 years, I say "sure" they say "how much" I say "how about $25" They say they'll send me a letter I can write a check.... I never send it back, if I even notice it came. I get so much mail, and I never write checks anymore, I don't even know where a check book is. Probably at work?

This time, I just said, "You know, I always agree, but then I don't follow through, so this time, I'm just going to say no upfront." Then I hung up.

It saved us both some time.

McConnell decided to do the same thing this time. He probably had good intentions before, he just didn't want to find a check book.

353 I stopped being a Republican because of Mitch and Boehner. These two made me so sick to my stomach with their funding of the obama amnesty that I literally switched parties that very day.

I will never ever trust the Republican party again. Ever. But I will say there is one caveat. If and when the party gets back to its core principles, I will return. Till then I will NOT.
