Mushy-Brained Moderates Got Us Into This Mess...They Won't Get Us Out

George Santayana famously wrote: "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." The corollary, which applies perfectly to this mid-wit columnist is: "Those who don't know history are condemned to repeat it...first!"

Rikki Schlott is a 26-year-old columnist for the NY Post who seems never to have taken a history class that taught anything about the inexorable slide from soft socialism to wholesale murder. Or the uncomfortable fact that "One man, one vote, one time" has been the default in socialist countries for a very long time.

It doesn't matter that Abdul El-Sayed underperformed. It doesn't matter that the obviously retarded Nithya Raman barely won in Los Angeles. It doesn't matter that Twelver Mamdani only got 22% of registered voters.

They won. They are in power, and they will do what socialists always do...consolidate power, manipulate the electoral system, use the power of the purse to support their policies, and marginalize their opposition in every way possible.

DSA's shoddy midterm performance is proof voters want moderation, not socialism

Democrats just had a resounding midterm victory across the nation. But they’d be remiss to believe that the election results are an endorsement of the party’s creep to the far-left.

Analysis of Tuesday’s results shows that progressive and DSA-adjacent Democrats actually underperformed relative to their more moderate peers. That’s true across the country, with no major exceptions.

Voters who came out for Democrats in the midterms are sending a very specific message: they want moderation, not radical DSA craziness. Hopefully Mamdani and AOC won’t take the “blue tsunami” as permission to pursue their most extreme political dreams.

This flaccid-thinking child has no historical perspective, and no understanding of the true face of socialism. And it isn't her fault...yet. She went to a liberal prep school, leftist universities, and was hired for reasons beyond my understanding as a columnist at an age where she should be learning how to do research into the topics she pretends to have mastered.

The stupidity and ignorance inherent in her perspective is unfortunately quite common among the chattering classes that pretend to understand our political system. And yes, some of these fools are in the Senate and House. It is long past the time in American politics that we shed the leftist-supported nonsense that collaboration and "reaching across the aisle" is anything other than a recipe for capitulation and loss.

Our political system is now a "zero-sum game," and the sooner the craven cowards in the corporate wing of the Republican Party realize it, the better. But they won't, and they will continue to obstruct any movement toward a coherent political philosophy, instead of their acquisitive, amoral games.

4 You know, when I was in the military during the infamous and pointless GWOT, we often heard, "They only have to be right once, and we have to be right every time," which as it turned out was originally attributed to the Provo IRA.

Now, with elections, we had to be right every single time, or any little opening would be exploited to the max. Every state that is lost to the Dems becomes a permanent outpost.

That's why people who are trying to convince me that there's still hope piss me off so much.

A pro-Palestinian group's planned boycott of Jewish-owned restaurants in Philadelphia on Sunday, the eve of the anniversary of Kristallnacht, has sparked outrage among Jewish organizations and condemnation from several Democrat officials, raising fresh concerns about antisemitism within the broader anti-Israel protest movement.

The demonstration, organized by Philly Bike On Your Left, an activist cycling collective, targets six restaurants: Goldie, K'Far Café, Dizengoff, Huda, Mac Mart, and Schlesinger's Deli.

Promotional materials declare, "No business for Zionists!" and demand that the establishments leave the city.

26 I saw an intensity this elections I don’t remember seeing before. Homes that would have a Vote Democrat sign or two had like 10 signs for every position down to town dog catcher. Houses with several signs for the same candidate. Which I thought was weird and a little over the top. But it showed how much frothing at the mouth there was to vote for these people. Multiple people door knocking on behalf of democrats and liberal ballot measures.

I live in a pretty red area where this doesn’t happen because the outcome is almost never in question. You could feel there was something in the air this time around.

And yet all I saw in right wing online media was don’t worry about it. The polls are wrong, the economy is fine, nobody really cares about Iran, we got this.

Two months later they seized power, and six months after that they had an absolute dictatorship.

We have at least a third of the electorate in the United States who would happily imprison or kill their political opponents if they were able to.

44 A 1995 economy producing a 1932 (or 1980) election result is really the question. A sub-topic that seems fairly clear is that one component was tribalistic and media-brainwashed backlash to immigration enforcement in some Hispanic demos (big part of the astounding TX outcome).

The Dems of course have nothing to offer on the economy, didn't even pretend to (electorate is so cretinized that brainless bumper sticker chants like "Affordability!" are sufficient), and thus will do nothing on that front. Meanwhile, barring black swans and the like, the currently improving economy will continue to do so and good chance it even gets to the boom/take-off stage it was in back in 2019, of course then squelched by The Great Idiocy.

The Socialists, and the Democrats certainly make money... some off the books, some not. But they are very much interested in governing; looking out for their own interests. In this regard they're pretty ruthless, unlike the milquetoast GOP.

And in this regard, we are in the way. So's the GOP.

58 It's an easy thing to see, how it works. Go and listen to weak Western socialists talk amongst themselves. They are defitionally useful idiots.

They constantly try to square the circle: why is the Current Year thing I support so morally abhorrent? And they conjure up every kind of cloyingly sweet little intellectual confection you can think up, to help the political medicine down the moral hole.

But the actual answer is simple. And they all eventually arrive at it... it's morally correct when I do it, because I build socialism, but it's a monstrous crime when you do, because you destroy socialism.

The philosophy is an end and not a means to it.

68 As a recovering libertarian, I can tell you that no one is more boring or more impotent than libertarians.

There's a reason for this. Libertarians are against any government action in theory but lack the testosterone to actually fight the battles. So they will gush about deregulation of coffee while the very committed left is trying to gut the Second Amendment. Then when illegal alien goon squads go door to door confiscating firearms and raping women and children, the libertarians will say, hey, we lost our guns but we have more brands of coffee than ever! So it's a tie.

What we really need is to make things painful to the left. Go after their comfort zones so they're too busy fighting for their lives to do anything to us. The boycott of Jennifer Welch's sponsors is a step in the right direction, although I would prefer to make her a literal martyr for the left than a figurative one. Hopefully the appointment of Stephen Miller is also a step in the right direction.

77 Some are saying Texas suffered from "latent" immigration. Meaning there were millions of Hispanics there that turned 18 within the last two years and thus were able to vote. Same for most of the other states that flipped.

One might argue that this was The Plan™ all along... playing a multi-generational long game with immigration to get where we are today.

Not sure I totally buy it... I still lean towards fraud.

Posted by: Martini Farmer at November 08, 2026 12:49 PM (RORbl)

78 It will be as long as 20% of the GOP voters that bother to turn out decide that they Just Can't Even because Bad Orange Man and Ken Paxton hurt their fee fees and thus vote for dems, because that's a thing that will improve their lives.

Retards.
Posted by: ballistic at November 08, 2026 12:36 PM (oqH4h)

They're both gone now. So, is there anyone else on the Texas horizon to win? If free money floods in, will the Rs be able to take Texas back?

Posted by: OrangeEnt at November 08, 2026 12:50 PM (1Ff7Z)

79 It's a one-way membrane on wave elections. In 2010, one of the biggest/deepest waves in our history, CA saw exactly IIRC zero incumbents replaced. Zero. It was as though nothing happened. I'd bet it was the same for MA, NY, VT, IL, OR, HI, etc. Or at least close - maybe the odd result here and there where an R unseated a D.

In this "wave", you have TX, KS, MS (!!!), possibly AK joining the trend. Amazing. There are almost no true "red" states. There are definitely several true "blue" states.

And the electoral map with GA as more blue than purple, and TX a battleground? Yikes.

I don't buy that theory. TX case is fascinating. I listened to that Gina-elect interview. I could understand why she won. She said that the left/right paradigm is no longer valid, and that her election does not mean that TX is all of a sudden a blues state. That she ran on kitchen table issues, like economy, affordability, fairness etc. She said she is not agains AI or data centers, but wants the communities involved and get something out of it. She is a great retail politician, she comes from a political family. Abbott decided not to debate her, right? He should have.

83 GatewayPundit has been having interesting articles. And things are as fishy as when all the poll workers got tired in 2020 when Trump was leading at the time in their states without calling the races.

President Trump apparently posted something on social media. We'll see. I'm all out of hopium.

But there's also this before I get back to mowing the leaves.

Stephen Colbert was forced to evacuate a Harvard University event Thursday evening after a fire alarm interrupted his appearance amid noisy demonstrations by striking graduate student workers.

The former Late Show host and Democratic Party propagandist, who had his show canceled by CBS in May, was appearing alongside celebrated cellist Yo-Yo Ma at Sanders Theatre for a discussion titled “Arts for Life’s Sake.”

The event was intended as a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Harvard’s Learning from Performers program.

Posted by: OrangeEnt at November 08, 2026 12:55 PM (1Ff7Z)

88 Something for you to think about:

Every Democrat supports assassination of all Republican officeholders. Every Democrat supported raping Sarah Palin for not aborting her baby. Every Democrat supported bribing Bristol Palin to abort her own baby, and every Democrat supported the beating they gave her for not aborting. Every Democrat supported Kathy Griffin spreading her legs for Levi Johnston as a reward for him not paying child support. Every Democrat supported Lindsay Clancy murdering her three children.

Do you think they intend to let YOU off the hook? Your Democrat neighbors are already making plans to rape and murder you and your own children.

Do you love your children more than you love a peaceful neighborhood? Yes? Then find out who the Democrats are in your area and prepare a local plan for the boogaloo.

92 Agree with runner about TX gov race. Not simply a mindless "vote for anything with D after the name". Very likely a big dose of tribalism too. Tom Servo here had a very suggestive anecdote about solid business types who are Hispanic both joining in the idiotic hysteria about ICE enforcement AND swooning for Hinojosa.

Talarico's a different case. And the mindless vote for anything D is clearly the case in much of the country. "Candidate quality" is a hilarious concept, this cycle might have had the largest number of ridiculous D candidates in recent history. All won, easily.

If we don't do this, we end up with a rabid left hell bent on killing us all.

I tend to believe this is an end state the left toys with. I think the problem is that not everyone on this nominal right believes it.

I retired a few years ago from the largest Hispanic television/media company in the world. The Hispanic employees will vote for anyone with a D in front of their name. An acquaintance who still works freelance for them sent me a copy of the ad buys for this election. No time was purchased by Republicans running in the area. But the Dems were buying 10's of thousands of dollars of ad time. This was true on the anglo stations as well. The ads, of course, were anti Trump (he's taking your rights away!!), ICE (especially) and the bad economy.

109 Sandy, nah, as I said, "the odd result here and there where an R unseated a D."

Brown was an interesting one-off outlier, and short-lived. Mark squeaked in with under 50% against a D in the race to replace Obama. I should have specified "at a presidential or national level" with my "no true red states" comment. Several "blue" states have had governors or legislatures that remained changing or balanced as the national map solidified into its recent look.

I can't imagine a "wave" election where a MA D senator is unseated, ditto for OR WA CA NM VT MA HI NY IL on and on. But the equivalent just happened in TX, MX, KS.

I sometimes think America is too rich and safe for it's own good, which means we might be cruising for a real bruising of a takedown. Only a set of difficult times can be strong enough to take down the feminized "empathetic" left that governs our culture.
