A Brief Illustrated History of Voting

How about a different type of old school voting tech?

Remember when the MLB All-Star voting took place mostly(?) by fans on paper ballots? Go to a big league game in the early months of the season, and they'd hand out punch card style ballots.

doof-mlb-ballot4.jpg

doof-mlb-ballot3.jpg

In later years, the ballots had cool cover art

2014 was the last year of paper ballots for MLB. All voting moved to online / digital formats after that.

41 There are still lots of rural votes to count, but Talarico has won around 65%-68% of the vote (75% counted) in Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio. Unless cows and oil rigs are voting that is an uphill margin to overcome.

Posted by: Alteria Pilgram - My president has convictions at November 03, 2026 10:02 PM

This is from NBCNews website:

About the Remaining Vote
Ken Paxton would need to win 61.1% of the remaining vote to catch or overtake James Talarico, who leads.

They are showing 55% counted and Talarico leads by about 1.1 million votes.

They are estimating 4.657 million votes left to count.

For the left, it feels like their political beliefs are their identity. So if you disagree with them, it's not just a difference of opinion, you're attacking them. Their sense of self is totally tied to if the country votes red or blue. That is an incredibly unhealthy way to live.

But it looks like a lot our side just didn't vote for her. Wilson has pulled it out, barely, and that shows the difference.

And then get 6 years of an absolute leftwing lunatic for it.

Demographics is destiny. Texas is 37-39% White, 40-41% Hispanic, 13-14% Black, 6-7% Asian.

113 I don't know what's happening in the elections (whether good or bad), but I do know that I very much wanted Trump to win in 2020. His loss was a tremendous disappointment. But that loss turned into a very different Trump in 2024, as opposed to another relatively weak term if he had won in 2020. It turned into a victory that I could not have foreseen after the 2020 election.

My view now is that God is working in this country, and how He is working is not something I can grasp. He spared Trump from an assassin's bullet. A great deal of evil and corruption has been exposed. Young leaders have emerged in the conservative ranks.

2020 and 2024 made me view my own opinions of how this country should be saved very differently. As much as I would like us to simply vote our way out of this, politics alone will not save this country, and God is working towards a spiritual solution. I believe that Trump is part of that, but I don't know the playbook.

If it wasn't for God's hand so clearly moving as shown in 2020 and 2024, and Trump's narrow escape, I would be much more discouraged by the apparent future of the US.

257 Their definitely WAS a campaign to split MAGA.

I called this as early as February 2024 and narrated every part of it here. I saw it playing out here actually. I was pretty sure Trump cut the legs out from under it enough to crush it.

Tucker and Megyn and their likes were always waiting in the wings and the fulcrum was planned to be Epstein. Then Iran came along and they got a second wind from it.

258 Again, even though the GOP is a useless pile of dogshit generally, this loss can really be laid at the feet of Trump and this damn war.

For Democrats to romp in places they haven't romped in a very long time, something spectacularly disastrous had to occur and that is gas being north of 4 dollars a gallon which basically make the price of everything remain high even as overall inflation has crept down, coupled with, let's face it, the democrats going full blown marxist, which has provided a bloodlust and an energy to their retarded voters.

The next two years is just going to be a grind.

Weston: Hughes 2733 Harris 1903
Redding: Hughes 2726 Harris 1773
Easton: Hughes 896 Harris 994
Totals: Hughes 6355 Harris 4670

I actually did very well in same-day voting. I was able to make up the Early Voting deficit I had in Easton to win here, but Weston and Redding were just too much. If the Anne Hughes news came out a week earlier, I would have definitely won. There were several people that said if they knew who Hughes really was, they would have changed their votes to me. These were hardcore Dems talking.

Two possible bright spots: CT may take a hard look at Early Voting. Two weeks before ED is way too much. Second, Hughes is highly damaged goods. I don't expect her to stay there for long. I think the Dems may find a way to underbus her - she really made them look bad.

Here's one approach: 21 stocks, in equal dollar amounts, a bit shy of 5% each. Seven stocks in cybersecurity, seven in semiconductors/Big Tech (Amazon, Apple, Google, etc), and seven energy stocks (LNG is nice). Any stock gets to 10%, rebalance. Follow them all and weed the garden as necessary. Reinvest as you go into new positions at 5% of current portfolio value.

Over the med to long term, keep a solid hold of your liquidity needs, and things will be ok.

Don't think it will be all rosy with Dems. Biden et al were responsible for shutting down a number of refineries - those that refine diesel, which is why it's so much more expensive than even gasoline. Did you think their Green New Deal was going to lower energy costs? Pull the other one, it jingles.

Even if we ended Iran right now (win or withdraw), the refinery problem still exists.

Just like the beef shortage problem still exists, and will still exists in 2027.

I really didn't expect the Dems to do this well - I was with Ben Had all the way on this election.

That said, there may be more bad news coming. The Dems already have an advantage with the MFM doing a lot of the psyops heavy lifting. The temporary bright spot was the massive money advantage the GOP had. Once Anthropic goes public, there will be thousands of multimillionaires and billionaires who are aligned with the Left, and who will have the money to give to the DNC. Once OpenAI goes public in 2027, they can get even more money.

The good news for us? Biden was POTUS two years ago today, and there is not one non-moron (the bad kind) on the Left that can actually run things competently. These guys are like the dog that caught the car.

This was demonstrated in 2018 and 2022 with missing Trump voters. The Democrats had the same problem with Obama. It wouldn't be surprising at all for that to be a major driver here. Republicans can't run Trump again and don't have any comparably talented politicians as far as retail politics go, and appeal to the same specific set of voters is iffy.

This is the real problem with democracy - the system assumes people will research the candidates's stands and vote accordingly and in blue areas they refuse to.

So, if that happens, any real conservative type ought to be running ads the next two years reminding the voters that it's their fault and laughing at the end. Won't win an election that way, but rubbing the voters' faces in it might bring them to their senses. It wasn't the candidates they could have voted for, it's they themselves to blame.

392 The Democrats have control of Congress, and they don't have policies that will make gasoline and diesel affordable. In addition, they'll break the bank when it comes to spending, which will put even more pressure on the deficit, which will, in turn, make inflation even harder to fight. Again, this is something for which their policies simply won't work.

And if that isn't enough, they'll drag in illegals by the millions if given the opportunity to do so, which will make it more difficult for the working poor in this country.

They deserve to be given the blame for whatever happens to the economy, and it doesn't look good for the economy in the near future, with them having a say in how it is going to be run.

399 Not necessarily. Texas has bad factors at play that weren't getting much attention:

1) Massive Islamic influx and Muslim-only cities under construction
2) Massive California influx from companies fleeing Gavin Newsom's disaster

Posted by: Ian S. at November 03, 2026 11:04 PM

Massive influx of Hindu Indians, majority of them on H-1B work visas and then the others on the visas to bring over their families. Add in all the student visas for Hindu Indians (reference that University of Texas image posted on X of the majority of the fans in the stands in a certain section being all Indians).

Demographics is destiny.

Posted by: Dark Lixtiquatal at November 03, 2026 11:10 PM (Fv808)

402 Paxton, meanwhile, got reamed by Thune, Cornyn and the NRSC who only gave him money when it was too late to matter.

Paxton had money from other sources. Texans fans had to watch his ads. It's not Thune's fault Paxton's campaign chose to spend the (mounds) of cash he had, on ineffective ads.

Posted by: 88C+u at November 03, 2026 11:10 PM (88C+u)

403 Again, Texas went blue, for that to happen, the electorate has to be pretty angry at something.

Or, it was massive 2020 style cheating on a state wide basis. They found 20,000 fake D ballots in Houston, do you think that was all they printed?

I can prove it was voter fraud: When Dems print up fake ballots they don't randomize down ticket votes. The same fraud that defeated Paxton also won the governor and Lt. Governor races as well as the Attorney general election. Nobody in the state was mad at any of those people, and the Dems were running a slate of loons.

That's true about the elections. What is likely is that they'll push idiotic energy policies that put the electrical grid at risk, and if (more likely, when) the grid fails, they'll be concentrated in urban areas, which will be a massive disadvantage for them.

I don't plan on being in those areas, being near retirement age and having the resources to locate to a remote area where the grid doesn't matter all that much. I've been in discussion with family and friends about this, and people like myself will simply relocate and watch the events unfold.

No. All she innocently did was vote D no matter who. If you were to ask her what was special about the D candidate, what they offered that the R didn't, she'd give you a blank stare.

My own personal experience is that if you point out whatever they are complaining about was a direct campaign promise of the candidate they boasted about voting for you get one of the following:

1) You are wrong, that isn't true, she never said or did that
2) No, its actually Trump's fault.
3) Its just bad luck no one could have seen it coming

Again for things the candidate they chose said she was going to do and then DID to fanfare in the local news.

482 Or the left will go full totalitarian on society, in which case someone will likely respond and take out the grid. I really hope this one doesn't happen but I can see it happening, regrettably.

I hope I'm wrong and that we're able to vote our way out but like you've just said, this isn't likely and the ugly scenario that I've laid out is likely to occur.

488 I wasn't as pessimistic this time around as I thought the Donks going bat shit commie crazy would temper the voters anger at Trump and the GOP, but apparently crazy has won out.

Is that your explanation for how Biden won in 2020? Or do you admit that was fraud? They couldn't fraud in Kamala in 24 because it takes time to print up fake ballots for 50 states, and they didn't have enough time to pull that off.

They found 20,000 fraudulent ballots in Houston this election, do you think that is all the Dems printed?

497 465. Trumps dilly dally with the war and then the resultant high fuel prices lost him a lot of the demographics that voted Republican in 2024. The Republicans lack of passage of the Save Act, and the appearance in the senate of doing nothing and having no forward looking message helped doom them.

498 They must be only counting the votes in eastern WA right now because the millionaires tax is losing and the transgender athlete bill is getting crushed.
Posted by: Jordan61

Just looked up the results on Wa. ST. SOS web site.

The Millionaires tax is getting smoked 530K yes and 750K no. More importantly is is losing in King County (Seattle) with 66% no votes.

Trans ban bill is winning (no trans in girl's sports) with 801K yes and 601K no. King County is split evenly which is a huge boost for this bill.

Generally speaking how King County votes determines the outcome of a bill/race.

No, this is the Alison. She's a different doll. She never thought of these things. No one in her life ever asked her a followup question. She never wondered what the next step is, what the implication is, why a thing happened. She blinks a lot. If you disagree with her, she thinks you're mean. She goes to church and thinks it's important to be a good Christian.

She's a huge problem.

There is something to say about a republican winning where it would make a difference. If Vivek in Ohio was going to flood the nation with foreigners the same way any Democrat would, there's not a lot of pluses to that.
