Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | THE MORNING RANT: From Peter Clack - “A society dismantled simultaneously by energy delusion and the abandonment of its sovereign borders”Amidst all the daily political battles, as well as the internecine arguments among the right, it’s sometimes important to remember just who the left is, what their agenda is, what they have wrought, and how important it is to politically defeat the left. Peter Clack wrote an excellent short essay on Twitter a few days ago, cutting right to the core of the need to save western civilization. He focuses on the hollowing out of industry, the green energy delusion, and the erasure of national sovereignty. The full essay is below, but his concluding sentence is worth singling out: ”A society that abandons its industrial base and surrenders its borders eventually surrenders its future.” The one thing I’d add is that the abandonment of Christianity in the West was supposed to bring about a secular enlightenment. Instead, a new apocalyptic religion rose to fill the void – one with an angry climate God imposing bizarre woke sacraments, including the sterilization and mutilation of children. Islam also raced across open borders to provide a replacement religion. Here is Mr. Clack’s excellent essay:The economic hollow-out of the West was only stage one of globalism’s experiment. What is unfolding now is the broader collapse of Western institutional confidence—a society dismantled simultaneously by energy delusion and the abandonment of its sovereign borders. The push for a wind and solar transition was sold as a technological leap forward. In reality, it ignores the fundamental laws of energy density. Weather-dependent generation can produce electricity for household lighting, but it cannot deliver the continuous, ultra-high thermal energy required for heavy industry, blast furnace steel production, chemical manufacturing, ocean freight or commercial aviation. By handicapping its own domestic energy grid with high-cost, intermittent generation, the West did not eliminate fossil fuels—it simply outsourced its industrial emissions and heavy manufacturing to Asia. The irony is stark: to build a green grid, the West must import energy-intensive components manufactured overseas using coal-fired power, creating a new, highly destructive industrial footprint while crippling domestic energy security. Compounding this industrial retreat is a complete paralysis regarding border integrity and social cohesion. Western political elites, transfixed by the doctrines of multiculturalism, have allowed uncontrolled and unvetted migrant flows to overwhelm public infrastructure, dilute civic identity and erode the rule of law. They are becoming dangerous crime states. What should be a basic duty of the nation-state—protecting its sovereign borders—has been abandoned in favor of fawning globalist posturing. When you dismantle domestic industry, enforce artificially expensive energy, and dissolve national borders, you do not create a globalist utopia. You destroy real capital. Without capital and productive sovereign industry, the fundamental pillars of Western life will (and are) falling apart. The reward for hard work disappears, upward mobility stalls, and the purpose of a long-term career is replaced by managing decline. A society that abandons its industrial base and surrenders its borders eventually surrenders its future. In my introductory paragraphs up top, I mentioned “internecine arguments” on the right. It’s important to remember that a great many faux-conservatives are fully on board with the agenda that Mr. Clack decries. The GOPe and the legacy conservative media embraced and still defend the hollowing out of American industry. They rejoice when American plants close and Americans lose their jobs. They have fought for open borders and for the importation of slave-adjacent labor. They have played footsie with the climate hoax by accepting the false pretext of global warming, and by engaging in “venture communism” via the redistribution of taxpayer money to “green” startups. The battle against these anti-American, globalist “conservatives” is not internecine. They are on the other team.
Many of Talarico’s supporters are feeling betrayed. A Mediate piece titled “Trans Advocates Slam James Talarico for Flip-Flopping on Trans Views” quoted several angry Texas voters who are reconsidering their support for Talarico. While there is no chance that they will vote for Paxton, they might withhold their vote from Talarico. Emily Oswin-Welborn was quoted as saying “I feel like I can’t in good conscience be responsible for putting a Democrat in office that is willing to compromise on trans rights.” That is the risk of attempting the “Trust me, I’m lying” tactic with uncompromising true believers. This piece is not behind a paywall. I’d be honored if you’d give it a read.

It's often easier -- and more profitable for the grafting government -- to outsource most if not all of that. What is the continent with probably the most natural resources on the planet? Locally -
The Delaware Riverkeeper Network operates as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Pro-development critics point out that its operations are heavily sustained by large private foundations and elite philanthropic funds—such as the William Penn Foundation ($500,000 grant) and the Schmidt Family Foundation. Critics argue this allows wealthy donors to dictate local energy policies from a distance without experiencing the job losses they cause. Opponents of these groups argue that their "real job" is filing endless lawsuits and using open-records laws to block economic progress. The Riverkeeper Network routinely uses litigation to stall major infrastructure—such as suing the Delaware River Basin Commission over the Gibbstown LNG port project or appealing state pipeline permits. Labor advocates view these legal tactics as deliberate strategies to delay projects until developers run out of money and walk away, killing potential union jobs. --- OTOH, the eco nuts shove a huge port operations into roughly the same areas they're fighting LNG projects; creating safety & health hazards for the local communities, providing jobs for outside the area, and creating drug pipelines. Batteries are making great strides, so what was true 100 years ago is not true now. However, they still have many problems, some what I consider fatal, for them to be a widely used technology, especially in cars. I have a crazy idea. Howzabout we DON'T shift our entire economy over to an inadequate, unsuitable alternative. Their management cancelled their two long-time successful ICE engines, and bet the farm on a yet-to-appear electric powertrain. The car was to be built on a common platform with Porsche and VW, but the platform was recently cancelled. The electric vehicle has now been delayed until 2027.
Bentley sold a grand total of 6, not 6 thousand, but 6, cars in Britain in the last half year. The American market has collapsed with tariffs, as has the Chinese market, who of course only wanted to steal the technology. Great move, Bentley management. China’s debt has shot up so much in recent years that interest payments on all its borrowing are commanding a bigger share of public spending. Debt-servicing payments will account for 19.2% of the central government’s general public budget this year, up from 12% in 2014, according to new Conference Board estimates cited by the Financial Times. That tracks with a separate report earlier this year from the Center for Strategic and International Studies, which also found that 19% of Beijing’s spending is earmarked for interest on debt. That’s more than the 14% of the U.S. federal budget that goes to interest costs. https://tinyurl.com/bdzjnbxx Posted by: Archimedes at October 12, 2026 11:58 AM (Riz8t) 134

That tracks with a separate report earlier this year from the Center for Strategic and International Studies, which also found that 19% of Beijing’s spending is earmarked for interest on debt. That’s more than the 14% of the U.S. federal budget that goes to interest costs. ____________ I prefer having our problems than anyone else's. Ours, I think, are solvable with enough determination. Europe, Russia, Japan and China are not. Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh at October 12, 2026 12:00 PM (eRlcH) 145
Standard gas and diesel vehicles use lead-acid batteries, which are packed with toxic heavy metal lead and corrosive sulfuric acid. They are legally classified as Hazard Class 8 (Corrosive Substances).
Electric vehicles (EVs) use large lithium-ion packs containing reactive lithium salts, flammable electrolytes, and toxic metals like cobalt and nickel. They are classified as Hazard Class 9 (Miscellaneous Dangerous Substances) due to fire and thermal runaway risks. --- They've taken the lead out of batteries. (that's why they're crap) Check w/Elon - he recycles 90% of returned (used) batteries. Posted by: Braenyard - some Absent Friends are more equal than others _ at October 12, 2026 12:00 PM (nqf1u) 146

When I was younger and stupider I bought into all the con, Inc. bullshit. Including the idea that if everything is made cheap overseas, we benefit from cheap pricing.
Which maybe true. But I’d rather pay an extra $1 for something and not have millions of my countrymen addicted to opioids because their livelihoods are destroyed. It can’t be ALL about profits and gdp growth and stonk markets. Posted by: Wall Street Journal Outsourcing just shifted our inflation away from product prices. We made up for it in spades with welfare spending, crime, and drug addiction. We just didn't see it on the price tag, we saw it on April 15th. Crack head Hunter helped sell one of the biggest cobalt mines in the world to the CCP. Then Joey shit pants gave $600 million of our tax dollars to help build a choo choo to help carry the cobalt to a port. Bentley sold a grand total of 6, not 6 thousand, but 6, cars in Britain in the last half year. The American market has collapsed with tariffs, as has the Chinese market, who of course only wanted to steal the technology.
