My two are being distant too. Stirling did not nap with me. He's curled now on a sheet of packing paper on the floor across the living room. I shifted little Dagny out of my spot on the couch, offering her the other cushion, and she sniffed and trotted away somewhere.

8 Happy Caturday everyone

I think the new Veterinarian hospital I worked at is open.
Freinds Veterinary Specialty and Emergency in Newtown Pa.
I did a lot of the work there, doors, cabinets and other things.
Hope they do well.

12 The harvest mouse in the video reminds me of my hamsters long ago. We had two different pairs of females -- nobody told us they were supposed to be solitary creatures, but they got along okay -- and we kept them in a birdcage. I wonder now if their continual gnawing on the cage bars meant they got poisoned by whatever metal those bars were finished with? All four lived to be about two years old, which I think is normal, so maybe not.

They were both gone when Rusty, our first cat, came along. Good thing for them. He'd have watched that cage day in and day out to see if he could catch one.

14 I have been fighting fleas for months now and it's the worst I've seen. I won't use the Bravecitoclass as they can trigger seizures. I found a website with the best info I've seen. They have a article on flea meds for dogs with seizures but this is the info for cats.
https://tinyurl.com/mrv75syx
Capstar is used by rescue groups. It only kills adult fleas and is good for 24 hours. It starts killing fleas in 30 minutes! And yes, it does work. You can follow it with something longer lasting. My cat with flea allergies is finally able to get some sleep.

Hope this can help someone else. Vet's office, when I asked about these, told me the cheap ones don't work. Seems like they are wrong.

17 I like the cat in the box. Why is it cats like boxes so much? . Our kitten does. He also likes caves. He had something that was supposed to be a scratching thing. He does scratch on it , but he's more interested in going under it so that all you can see is his tail. He also likes to climb under the blanket we have on our couch.

Years ago I told Linda that cats' liking for enclosed spaces (the ones they choose themselves, anyway) is a racial memory of cave lion days. She had not heard of cave lions then and thought I was making it up.

Aside from that, I suspect they are pretending to hide by a waterhole for some prey to come by which they will then seize.

34 Freddy the Freeloader, the gray tabby-with-white semi-feral, is still stopping by twice a day (and lingering at other times) for a handout. I bought some dry Friskies for him so I can reserve the expensive IAMS dry chow for Stirling and Dagny. Freddy is handsome enough for a shorthair, I guess. He will bump against your leg on occasion, but does not want to be petted.

His friend Alfred the Gray, a larger shorthair who has a home somewhere nearby, stopped by this week as well.

44 Big black Stirling is still fond of climbing into my lap and working my arm with his paws, the milk-treading kitten behavior. I find it rather flattering that he still wants to do that. Marie-Antoinette the smart black cat did it with us every day.

None of the Siberians, Angelique (though she liked laps), Tatiana, Chekov, or Dagny, has ever done it. Perhaps it's because they don't leave their mothers and don't get adopted from their catteries until they are five months old or more.

49 Usually, we get a nice cold spell during winter, that keeps the fleas in check. Didn't happen last winter. And I have Mr Trouble bringing in fleas from outside. I have limits on the chemicals I can use inside. Even Wondercide gave me problems. The article I linked will give you information on the effective chemicals and the ones with known issues.
