Some friends just opened a new pub in town. Elvis and I stopped in for a beer, well one of us, after our park walks.

Good evening,
It is with great sorrow I must tell the Moron Horde that Kaylee the Calico Kitty Cat (the cutest little cat of them all) crossed the Rainbow Bridge this week.
She had been doing poorly for some time, so I made the fateful decision to have her put to sleep.
Kaylee first came to me as a kitten a little over 12 years ago. Like all kittens she was a mischievous little scamp, causing no end of minor problems.
One of her favorite games when she was young was to hide things in my shoes. I never knew what I was going to find when I put my shoes on in the morning. Could be a pen cap. Could be the pen. Could be a $5 bill.
She grew out of it, of course, but she was always a bit roguish, a lone kitty who played by her own rules. Kaylee never showed me the same affection as the other kitties, but I loved her no less than I love them. She knew how to get attention when she wanted it.
Words cannot express how much it means to me to feel the love and support of the Moron Horde during these times. You are all blessed and a blessing to others, just like our own pets are a blessing for us. Never forget that.
Hug your pets each and every day. Tell them you love them each and every day. Every minute we get to spend with them is time well spent. I'm very grateful that I was able to spend 12 wonderful years with this little ball of fur.
I will miss Kaylee the Calico Kitty Cat (the cutest little cat of them all). She was loved until the end.

Not pet related but my sister just text'd me and told me about a new critter on her property. Not a pet but a mink. It was hunting around her pond. It was at dusk, so no pics unfortunately. Didn't know PA had minks that weren't coats.

2 So sorry about Kaylee, the calico kitty, professor . It is so hard to loser a beloved pet. We had a calico cat named Cleo who come in right before a snowstorm of 36 inches at the first church I served. ( I guess someone abandoned her . At least we never saw any signs for "lost cat" .) She was about 17 when she died.

And I appreciated your story about Kaylee hiding things in your shoes. This cat just seems to like to leave his toys in my shoes- a plastic spring , . A little toy mouse. I wouldn't mind finding $5.00 , but the new kitten, Millard , doesn't seem to have a banking background. 😉

I discovered this myself about 3 or 4 years ago. I thought I was looking at a fat weasel. You hardly see them because of their noctural behavior....but another reason is that they prefer swamps or areas off a lake used for drainage. Lots of them out towards Happy Valley (Penn State) region.

Sorry for the loss of sweet Kaylee. And nice to see Elvis, after hearing about him for awhile. PIper's boys are beauties.

Big orange tabby Rufus has been on an eating strike for a couple days, and not acting up to par. Vet couldn't find anything wrong and suggested $600 worth of blood tests and X-rays because cats can develop liver disease very quickly without food. I said for now let's just try a nausea suppressant and subcutaneous fluids.

So I've been hand feeding him, scooping wet food into his mouth with my finger, and he seems to be getting better and has even eaten a little on his own. Hoping it's just a stomach bug. But he's such a picky eater anyway. Any advice or experience welcomed.

I'd definitely at least recommend an X-ray to rule out a few ailments. Might be cheaper than the blood tests.

32 Perfessor, as a calico owner myself you have my deepest condolences. I’ve had mine 10 years now and she was almost one when I took her in as a medical foster. I was gonna get her all healthy and take her to adoption events. Well, that lasted all of 2 weeks. She’s a lap cat on her terms and has a mind of her own.

That's his escapism. Her loss will be hard for him, even though he's perfectly aware and has a lot of experience from elderly relatives in the past.

Her heart rate was in the 120s a little while ago. While I held her hand it dropped down to the 80s. I gave her morphine about an hour ago, so the HR was surprising.

I may have shared this story last week. If so, I apologize. Millard- who is about four months old - and had not lived in a house before- loves the rocker. He stands straight up in it and likes to climb through the " openings on it. He hasn't yet had his tail under it, but a while back spouse was messing around on the computer in front of the rocker and didn't see the cat and he sat down on him.The cat understandably hissed and tried to scratch him and took off once spouse got up . Spouse said " Well , I didn't mean to sit on him." "No, but he doesn't know that. I imagine you'd be rather put out too, if someone weighing 180 lbs more than you do sat on you!"

My mom's in a home, Fen. I try to get up to see her at least once a week. And I bring Elvis whenever I can.

Hard to say who enjoys it more, the patients or Elvis. People who love their pets light up when they see a pet come and Elvis has a ball. On those rare occasions I can't bring him people ask me "Where's Elvis?". And they tell me stories about their own pets. Over and over.

Even my own mom is disappointed when he isn't with me. If you are visiting a pet lover in a home bring your pet as long as they are well behaved. It makes all involved happy.

Linda gets all sorts of freebies and samples online for reviews, plus magazine subscriptions. They are all addressed to my place with the name of one of our late cats attached. Give Dagny time. It took two full years before Allie turned into the affectionate kitty she is today. I'm still working on Chloe, but she's starting to become pretty affectionate in her own way.

No, Kaylee never had any interest in my socks. She never had much interest in any of the many, many cat toys I have around the house.

The local university that has a school of veterinary medicine may be able to get you to the lab that does the work and they may be able to give you a lower cost too.

Liver function for a human is around $120, depending on a number of factors if you go through the lab directly.

I wonder if big black Stirling would be a good candidate. He is happy to go into the carrier, and while he's a little nervous at the vet's, he behaves quite well. Marie, on the other hand, when she met new people clearly had the attitude, "Ah, someone new to worship me!"

Have you ever considered doing the official “Pet Therapy” classes with Elvis and taking him to old folks homes and hospitals?

There was a therapy pug named Frank who would come and visit in the chemo wing. I got to interact with him a couple times and it was very soothing to pet a calm, happy critter who seemed to know I needed comfort.

Sounds like the two of you would be rock stars. It is a process though.

67 My wife's dog almost got another squirrel this morning. There were two of them on the fence and while the dog ran after one of them, the other one hopped down from the fence and made a dash to a tree. The dog spotted it and went after it and actually had it down on the ground, but the squirrel somehow managed to get away and made it up the tree. She killed another one a couple of weeks ago. The wife was pissed at her for killing it, I wasn't sorry to see the tree rat gone.

Ajax would always do this thing. Id suddenly jump into a crochet with my hands out. Then he'd do the same thing on his front paws. Then spin around and zoomie all over the place.

He aged oddly. For 12-13 years, he never seemed to change. Always had the same energy he'd had. That last year when he was on the steroids, it was like it all hit him at once.

About 6 months before he died, he was having a lot of problems getting up the stairs and for some reason I thought 'I bet he cant do that thing any more. Or want to.' So when I came home one night after letting him out, he turned to face me after I took the leash off and I jumped into a crouch. And he reacted like he always like he was a puppy again. He probably hurt after that, but he was so happy. For just a minute, he was young again.

It was good.

69 We did once take Marie out to have her picture taken with Santa at the nearby Petco. She was bothered by the dogs -- not unduly, they were well-behaved, but she was not as relaxed as usual. We have the pic and I need to send it to KT.

Recently Linda snapped a shot or two of little Dagny, posed next to one of the sample cans of cat food Linda gets all the time. It's one of her best pics; she really looks filled out, and we plan to send it to her breeder. In the phone lighting, Dagny looks much browner than she does under my usual lamplight here. I should send that along too.

The bad news: now I have to give this 130 lb uncooperative asshole a bath. My plan is to fasten his harness lead to a wheel on my car and hose him down in the driveway.

I've told all my cats, starting with Arizona long ago, "Take care of the place while I'm gone." Sometimes I add, "You're in charge." (A dangerous thing to tell a cat, I know.)

Little Dagny barfed on the arm and seat of my sofa yesterday. Unlike Stirling, who hacks for a few moments beforehand, giving me time to scoot him onto the kitchen floor, she gave no warning. Fortunately I was right there. I sprayed and scrubbed the seat, and the placemat/arm protector I could take up to be washed.

Good luck with the beast. He may not act like it, but he will appreciate the bath. And certainly be happy not to stink anymore.

When Lucy’s infected tail cyst exploded, I had to toss her carrier because it was fabric and could not be cleaned. When I got her home, I cleaned her up as the vet didn’t get all of the stank.

She didn’t fight much. And she hates being a stinker.

86 Speaking of ferals, the brown tabby-with-white shorthair male has realized I am a feeding station. He creeps by and sits on the lawn waiting for me to come out. He gets a scoop of dry food in a plastic bowl. I really should buy some inexpensive dry food for him and save the Iams stuff for my two.

I've taken to calling him "Freddy the Freeloader."

My last Golden, the real Jack Straw, used to run upstairs when I told him it was bedtime. He'd jump on the bed and crouch down and wait for me in pounce mode with a big smile on his face.

I'd walk in the room, put my hands above my head in monster attack mode and snarl at him. He'd then spin around in zoomie mode in one direction and then the other. And then sit up and wait for me to give him a big hug.

Every night. Never got old.

93 Oh, Perfessor, my deepest condolences on the passing of your beloved friend, Kaylee. When my Gizmo passed away, it hurt so bad I couldn't even announce it. Miz Giz had often been my sole companion while DH was away tending to his elderly mom and I missed her unbearably. Still do. We decided not to get another kitty as we figured to spend some time traveling so I haven't had a cat fix in ages (although I did get to pet one of the Downtown Cats of Reykjavik while there for the solar eclipse). Luckily we have many photos and I painted that beautiful critter no less than eight times!
