After Supreme Court Declines to Overrule State Supreme Court, Federal District Court Steps In to Allow Missouri to Use Its New Congressional Map for Midterm Elections
This is good for us. The "new" map, created in 2025, has been in use for over a year but was recently disallowed by the Missouri Supreme Court, which ordered the state to suddenly toss out the map that had been in use in favor of the previous 2022 map.
Isn't it strange that courts don't worry about the "chaos" of overturning established election procedures when doing so would help Democrats? And that this "chaos" factor is only used to overrule Republican initiatives, like Trump's EO to the Post Office to scan mail-in ballots for actual voter eligibility? Well, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals apparently does think that the "chaos" factor should help Republicans just as other courts use it to help Democrats. He overruled the Missouri Supreme Court, pointing out that the "new" 2025 map has been the one candidates have been operating under for over a year and it would cause chaos to suddenly revert to the 2022 map, which has different district maps than the ones which have voted for the current candidates.A federal appeals court ruled Monday that Missouri must use its Republican-favored 2025 redistricting map in November, despite the Supreme Court declining twice this month to intervene in the dispute. The Supreme Court allowed a decision from the Missouri Supreme Court to take effect earlier this month, which ordered Missouri Secretary of State Denny Hoskins to use the 2022 map that favored Republicans in a 6-2 split. The new 2025 map, which was used in the state primaries last month, favors Republicans in a 7-1 split by erasing Democratic Rep. Emanuel Cleaver's Kansas City-based district, according to Politico. The 8th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the new map causes the least amount of confusion for voters this year because they have already used the map this year, but it allowed redistricting opponents one week to get relief from the Supreme Court. "For approximately one year, Missouri operated under the 2025 map," the panel majority wrote. "During that time, Missourians filed to run for Congress, met candidates, watched campaign advertisements, received campaign mail and voted under the 2025 map. "Any confusion stems from the last-minute decision by a state court to switch the congressional map," it added.That's a little bit of good news to start this rainy day.

Funny how federal court always intervenes on behalf of Republicans and admonishes the state’s supreme court over affairs that the federal court has no jurisdiction over, all under the guise of the supremacy clause.
Our judicial system is 100% compromised. We’re so cooked. How tf can all these courts keep coming up with different opinions when given the same set of facts? Just disgraceful

Lefty judges will never rule in our favor. Judges that are more likely to rule by principle may give us bad news occasionally.
Looking at it by 50/50 analysis (it's not that), that means that the left gets at least 50% wins. The right gets ~25% wins, because we lose some when the law is against us. More likely, because conservative causes are more likely to be honorable and less likely novel (my reckoning), we probably get ~38-40% wins.
When the left can judge and venue shop, they get ~100% political gains. While the right could be more like ~75-80%.
Thus the ratchet proceeds to the left. Plus the way that Planned Parenthood and the Sierra Club keep funding themselves by suing and settling with their conspirators in government.
We cannot have nice things.

They said, however, that they were refusing to block the change because the state court ruling had been in effect for a whole two hours and it would be chaos to change it. I did, and it immediately went into the pile of kits I've accumulated (we're up to 14 1/32 kits awaiting building).
When I finish a kit, if I don't have a client build lined up, I'll start on one for me. I try to alternate between jets and props to keep myself entertained and from getting too bored. Plus, I HATE building external stores, so taking a break from that isn't the worst.

This is only in regards to the Federal ban on interstate purchases, not to state bans. Butt Still™, it may mean those in 2A friendly states can now buy direct. Just have to have the Admin sue the slave states under the commerce clause.

Owing to the urgency of the case, and the fact that it was always going to end up at SCOTUS anyway, Missouri tried to short-circuit and the weak links in DC used that as an excuse.

The final straw was my mom telling me Charlie Kirk deserved it, but going all the way back to Trump I, she was telling my very, very small children the President was a notsee and a rapist. At every interaction. Despite me asking, then telling them to stop, then telling them I'd stop bringing their grandkids if she wouldn't stop.
She wouldn't stop. My kids and I see them about twice a year and talk on the phone almost never.
I hate it, but there's nothing I won't sacrifice to protect my children.

(He wouldn't, but he's also not inclined to give their property to people who only visit occasionally, don't do any work toward the maintenance and improvement of the place, and who haven't expressed any intention to give him and Mom any support in their old age.)

Dad passed before his wife, so to the winner goes the spoils. Step-sister basically screwed everyone out of everything and the only money will go to pay for her and her brother's mother in a home (Parkinson's and dementia). By the time it's said and done, there won't be anything left to split 4 ways.

My dad defends his wife in all things. Even privately. And he's a peacemaker by nature, so conflict really isn't his jam. I think it helps that he mostly agrees with her, but lacks the courage to say it.

Well, he probably knows she's batshit crazy about it and he's too old now for a divorce. I suspect there are a lot of Karens out there that are acting up because nobody ever checked their bullshit. Oh, CNN had a brief segment where AOC bitched that America never elected a female President.

I was watching an episode of shark tanks. This lesbian couple rolls up holding hands one is hawt blonde one is cute-ish mixed race.
They get into the negotiations and one of sharks asks why should we give you moneys mixed race chicks goes only 10% of VC funding goes to women and of that only 10% to women of color and of that only 50% goes to gay women of color.
And I’m like well how many fucking gay women of color actually ask for VC funding? Very few. I’d bet the percent of those who do and get funding is higher than the percent of white straight men who ask and get money. Because no VC wants to be accused of gay racism so they’ll throw over a couple of bucks to improve the ESG score.
It’s never ending victimhood everywhere.

Understandable. My wife's family had a little more money than typical, and, despite a Pastor-ful church-oriented extended family, has never had a totally clean divvying.
My wife has barely gotten anything--and almost nothing she's asked for. Somehow her late deadbeat dad has remained the darling of his family's affections, but the lack of his presence to hold his own for his daughter, has gradually led to her getting not even the little she thought was reasonably connected to her. She was even accused of stealing a valuable ring from a diseased relative, and although I have some sort of bias, I have never seen any sign that she wanted more than a few keepsakes from people who were dear to her who passed.
But, I've been through this inheritance thing a few times and seen it go bad with others.

I cannot at the moment think of any very conservative women in government or business, but I expect they're out there they'd probably do fine as a President . Kamala and Hillary are not examples of good governance by women.
