The only thing I know about Parton is that in her preparation to be in 9 to 5, she memorized every line she had like it was a play.
It was apparently just naivete on her part about how movie making works, but she came prepared.

Dolly Parton had them all as well as much of her wealth going to charity and literacy.
She's an example to many and won't be forgotten, not just for her talent but her person. By all accounts always kind and loving. Never took a wrong step in public and beloved by many. May she RIP as she joins her husband and touches the face of God.
The song that touches my heart is her voice with Brad Paisley, "When I Get Where I'm Going." There'll be only happy tears...don't cry for me down there." The words of the lyrics and melody are gorgeous and meaningful.

To me what was so great about her was coming up from nothing and becoming a huge success. But not stopping there. She gave back. That was so important to so many of her fans. She started Dollywood in a poor rural part of Tennessee and gave so many people an opportunity to make a living. Her loving heart is what made her so great. She is with the Lord now, as it should be.

A Charlotte man charged with making detailed threats to carry out mass shootings at five public schools has been released from jail just three days before students in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools district were scheduled to return to class.
The man’s release has sparked outrage among parents concerned for their children’s safety.
Drew Andres Owens, 33, was released from the Mecklenburg County Jail at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday after posting a reduced bond, according to jail records obtained by the New York Post, with the new school year beginning today.

The area is beautiful also.
Dollywood used to be Silver Dollar City before Dolly bought it.
I went there when I was a kid and enjoyed the area, but the park was basically an old western town with some shops and a gunfighter show.
Dolly turned it into a modern theme park.
If you like mountains it’s worth it just to see all the sites around that end of Tennessee.
I’d like to return myself one day.

I remember being intrigued with what the place was before it became Dollywood. For about 2 or 3 years back in the 60's it was called "Rebel Railroad". You'd ride on a steam train, and througout the ride you'd be attacked by Union Army, Native Americans, and bandits...and the Confederates were the heroes that fought off each attack. Taxpayers should have known better. You can visit Dolly's charity's website and within 5 minutes grasp that ANYONE can "bring her program to ________" (fill in the blank) just by following their step-by-step how-to guide. It was never supposed to be a government program.

Technically, we're in the same position as police bodycam activists, before the results were known. We have a hypothesis that we believe in, and our opponents are fighting like they have something to hide.
There is an asymmetry of risk, in our favor. If we're wrong like the bodycam people, the worst-case scenario is we find out the country is full of crazy idiots voting to be slaves. We can then move forward with learning how to manipulate them into voting for their own damn interests, while everyone has more trust in the system.
The worst-case for the other side is that we're right, their election fraud is so endemic that they have completely forgotten how to win an honest election, and they could spend 40+ years in a permanent minority before they sort things out.
It's not just the odds, the payout asymmetry is *fantastic*.

We firebombed every city in Japan but a handful - some for cultural reasons (Kyoto) and some to save for nuking. The nukes were impressive because we did them with one plane, not that their total damage was so much worse than the bombings we were doing to Japan, and Germany too for that matter.

I remember being intrigued with what the place was before it became Dollywood. For about 2 or 3 years back in the 60's it was called "Rebel Railroad". You'd ride on a steam train, and througout the ride you'd be attacked by Union Army, Native Americans, and bandits...and the Confederates were the heroes that fought off each attack. Tough sell in today's world.
That sounds kinda awesome.
