Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) torched Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in an impromptu interview with CNN’s Manu Raju, and boy, Sanders didn't take it well. The blowup is over Michigan's Senate primary, where Democrat voters look poised to hand their nomination to Abdul El-Sayed, a Democratic Socialist who has spent months running to the left of nearly everyone else in the race. His chief rival, Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich.), is clearly the more electable option, but El-Sayed looks like he’s going to win. A recent poll shows Republican Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) beating El-Sayed by 10 points in a general election matchup. Swap in Stevens against Rogers, and the race is a dead heat, within the margin of error. Sanders, of course, has thrown his weight behind El-Sayed, and Fetterman thinks that is a mistake. In fact, he said so bluntly to Raju in a rather scathing attack on Sanders. He brought up Sanders' lack of regret for propping up Graham Platner, even after he was accused of rape and abuse by multiple ex-girlfriends, who also drew fire for comments many read as disparaging a fallen American hero.Well, sadly this is Michigan, no longer the land of Henry Ford but thanks to places like Dearbornistan and Hamastramck well on its way to transmogrification into an Islamic shitole. Well that said, and speaking of Ford, I give you someone who is not related to the Tin Lizzy inventor Ford didn't hedge. His argument was straightforward: the Democrat Party has drifted so far from ordinary voters that its own candidates no longer resemble what the country is asking for. "Because the American people are not being ambiguous at all about what they want," Ford said. "They want lower prices; they want not-forever wars. They want their kids to have better futures and an opportunity to achieve the American dream.", and even one of their own on Fox News's The Five isn't pretending otherwise. On Thursday, Harold Ford Jr., who is far and away smarter than Jessica Tarlov, ripped into his party for propping up socialist candidates like Abdul El-Sayed, who is running for the U.S. Senate in Michigan. And yet far away geographically and politically from Michigan there's Texas. Host Erin Burnett said, “So, let me ask you about this poll that just came in here while we were talking in the past few minutes from Fox, Larry. The Republican Senate candidate, Ken Paxton, is now trailing the Democrat, James Talarico, in Texas. Ok, Texas. This is the first public poll where either candidate has hit the 50% mark. Ok. It’s Texas. It’s an incredible thing to see this. It’s also the end of July. Where do you see that race going?” Sabato said, “I’ve been around a long time. And since 1994, I’ve gotten call after call virtually every day from Texans in politics on the Democratic side, saying, ‘This is the year. We’re finally gonna do it.’ But you know what? I’m starting to believe it’s actually possible this year, not just because James Talarico is a great candidate, which he is, but Paxton is so awful. And I’m sorry to use that word. But, you know, we used to have a word, a flaunter, meaning he’s a sinner who flaunts the sin. And that pretty much has been the way Paxton has conducted his public career. A lot of these donors won’t touch him. Notice, he’s not doing well at all raising money. It’s because they have family and friends and businesses to protect, and they really don’t want to identify themselves publicly with a candidate who has Paxton’s record.” So okay, taken together Harold Ford although a decent fellow, isn't exactly a rock-ribbed conservative and Larry Sabato is a pollster who's been around the block for a long time and his record of prognostication let alone on the temperament of the electorate are not exactly stellar or even reliable unless I'm missing something. But seriously, does this abject freak have a shot at taking a senate seat in Texas, regardless of Paxton's appeal or lack thereof? I mean Texas rejected Abortion Barbie and she makes Talarico look like Chairman Mao in comparison, or at least from my perspective as an ex-New York Yid living in the sticks of southern Wisconsin. So if Socialism is such a big winner why are the Democrats seemingly all freaked out about it as several links in the Politics section seem to be driving at? The contradictions about this are maddening. What I guess I'm driving at beyond these individual races is what does all this say about the nation as a whole and the trajectory we're on? As the song goes . . . "Will our story shine like a light, or end in the dark?!!!!" Have a great weekend!

If I don't hear anything by lunch, I'll call and see what they have to say that way. I'm confident they still like me but they may be having delays with scheduling the client interview.

The other day, at Graham's funeral, Trump was handing out tic-tacks to Vance and Bessant. And, as they were laughing, Trump smiled at the camera.
In 2020, the last weeks, Trump was doing his rallies (remember how they forced him to hold them at airports in the middle of nowhere due to Covid, all the blue cities banning crowds--but not BLM--for safety?) Anyway, he would give his speech, rally the crowd, but it was ... off. Like he knew it was close, in the wrong direction, hoping against hope. But in 2024, he was happy, having fun--he knew he already won. A thing we should keep in mind about Republicans in the Senate:
If you polled all of them, you might get 5 who think they are going to hold the Senate. Something which is damned near impossible; the Dems winning. Because it means losing both or at least one of LA and TX. But, regardless, they believe it, bc the people they trust, the news they read, tells them the Senate is in play. And I'll bet at least 40 of them think both TX and LA are lost. Not bc of any polling or how red the states are. But bc they hate their "friends" lost and they believe stupid lies like "well, they have never won a Senate seat before, so they'll probably lose." And that's why you have at least 10 GOPe that are dead-set against the SAVE Act: they think they are buying themselves a separate peace with the Dems in 2027--sold at the price of your freedoms. Posted by: People's Hippo Voice at July 31, 2026 07:52 AM (3cUTc) 47
theorists like Marcuse argued that “the centralization of political power is necessary if the individual is going to be truly free.”
There is not one Democrat that does NOZT believe in this idea. A central power that controls thoughts and ideas is the only freedom. It is the exact same idea as Islamism. 1) Fox News is one of the worst at polling; they had Kamala winning by 5% up to near the end.
2) Larry Sabato is coasting on an (unearned) reputation that is nearly 20 years stale. He's not some wizard with insight--he has a staff of interns who collate the news (which is nearly exclusively left), mixes in polling and then "weighs" it to "predict" races. He is no more accurate than the crowd--don't buy his bullshit "98% accuracy." (more on that to come) 3) Talarico won't win. It won't even be close. He'll be lucky to break 45%. The same people saying the same things now were saying them back when they were predicting Cornyn would win. And, before that, when they were predicting he'd lose the statewide AG race. Claude: Does Larry Sabato "beat the crowd?"
Answer: Short answer: his headline "98% accuracy" is real but mostly measures how lopsided most American elections are, not forecasting skill. When you isolate the races where it actually mattered — genuine toss-ups — his edge over just following the polls shrinks to modest-to-nonexistent, and in the two biggest calls of the last 11 years he missed exactly where the polling consensus also missed. The headline numbers: Center for Politics (Sabato's own shop) touts a lifetime 98% accuracy rate on U.S. House calls, 98% on Senate, 94% on governors. That's true, but it's inflated by the fact that in any given cycle, 80-90% of House/Senate/Governor races aren't remotely close — safe D or safe R seats that a coin, an incumbent-always-wins rule, or "whoever's leading in whatever polling exists" would also call correctly. That part of the record tells you almost nothing about Sabato specifically. Posted by: People's Hippo Voice at July 31, 2026 08:07 AM (3cUTc) 79
Starting with Cornyn and that malignant pustule Karl Rove, the Uniparty has been screeching that Talarico can win! I think think they’ve got a lot of people outside of Texas convinced.
Didn't that senile has-been Cornyn blame Mike Lee of " demoralizing the GOP" because of Lee's tenacity in trying to get the Establishment to pass the Save America Act? Trying to shame your Party's seditionists into acting positively on what 90% of your party wants is "demoralizing" yet promoting Screwtape as your replacement in the Senate is not? The socialists are absolutely the first order of business. The Democrats plan to transform before our eyes and the GOP does not have the stomach nor the desire for the fight them once they do. You can't do much about the second thing you mentioned right now that Trump isn't doing (borders), but trust me he knows what this DSA op is, and has a plan in place to deal with it. The operation is purposely much more diffuse than the Squad or having one charismatic person. They believe he doesn't have the ability to fight such a wide ranging "movement". But I think he does. The best thing conservatives can do is keep tearing down centrist Democrats.
The centrist has no desire for Muslims or communists, and thus it makes Democrats unelectable. Furthermore, if you can remain quiet about anti-Israel candidates and Muslims in swing states during the Democrat primaries, you begin to break up one of the most powerful Democrat power blocks. Jews have voted 75+% for Democrats and Jews are their largest campaign contributors. When you put anti-Zionist candidates on the Democratic ballot, you eliminate a lot of their voting and funding base. When it gets to the general, sure, call those anti-Zionists Hitler and Muslims and all that. But during the primaries, it's best to let the Democrats put in radical candidates. Paxton is deemed “horrible” by the Uniparty and the professional political class because he keeps doing things that upset them. So they have launched a decade of lawfare against him and set every media outlet against him and created dozens and dozens of fake polls showing that This Time, he will lose!
And you know what has happened? While that was going on, he’s won three statewide races pretty easily, since Texas voters like him BECAUSE the professional political class hates him so much. Paxton beat George P. Bush to become AG. That's the source of the hate for him. The Bush Republicans, still a force in Texas, and the Democrats have been trying to get rid of Paxton ever since. But he keeps winning. So they impeached him. A bunch of 'Republicans' in the legislature voted to impeach but the Senate acquitted, sadly on partisan lines. In the next election, several (most?) of those 'Republicans' were gone, either retired of defeated. Three members of the Texas Supreme Court decided that they's square off against Paxton - all of them lost their seats. Paxton isn't going to lose. "I’ll call it now: The GOP picks up one senate seat and keeps the house. "
I'm even more optimistic. The mid-terms will be decided by Turnout. Turnout. Turnout. Trump has gotten White Non-College to turnout after they were evicted from their historic home in the D party. Hispanics and Black Men have been joining. Still plenty of room to grow. Trump will run this year as if he's the head of the ticket. Public polls miss "unexected" increases in Turnout. Morning again, news folken,
Sometimes I wonder if the BernieBro in my former writing group, the Vietnam vet who spent his life as a working electrician and yet used to espouse socialism, has awakened to how his D party has changed. ("No country which has gone socialist," he used to say, "has ever gone back." To which I replied, "That's because once it has, it can't.") I don't expect he would ever vote for, or stop hating, Donald Trump. But maybe, just maybe, in the face of increasing prices for everything, he has begun to realize that his Dem party has left him and other working people behind. Yes, and I'm still waiting for my lottery ticket to win big so I can buy myself that unicorn I've always wanted. The Trump official calling out rouge judges as the "worst of the worst" has really struck a nerve.
Because it's 100% true. All the lefties are faking onto the fainting couches at the incivility. "the judges are getting death threats! They're attacking their character, not their rulings!" And everyone else is like, "maybe if they treated Trump with 1% of the civility, decorum and respect the office of President deserves, they would have grounds to complain." And it really is something, how these cartel judges have no hesitation in attacking the motives, character and beliefs of Trump--and the 75 million who voted for him--in in the most outlandish, dishonest and derogatory way possible. But also, each of the tweets complained of specifically attack their rulings and say nothing about them personally. Posted by: People's Hippo Voice at July 31, 2026 08:36 AM (3cUTc) 161

This entire Fauci event has turned our heads back to the deer in the windshield (at 100 mph) that we seem to forget due to the passage of time: the rise and success of the Chicago Thug in Chief, the Manchurian Candidate, the "calmer of the seas," the Kenyan Surprise, the Odildo . . . . . in deeply dividing this country and in coming close to destroying our divine nation . . . . in fulfilling the wishes of his Marxist Rat professors and mentors. A good slap in the face to remind us of this is Josh Monnington's piece in the Federalist recently (Barack Obama Fathered Today's Marxist Democrat Party). We should never forget. And Fauci was simply one of the Comrades carrying out the plan. May they receive their just rewards.

Lol. Have you ever posted a comment here about how the ever increasing price of things has made life difficult for young men and then seen how conservatives respond? Here is the difference: When you tell a Democrat that prices are increasing and making life hard, they will say "Oh yeah, corporations are evil and we are going to do something about it", even though they never do and it's all bullshit. But if you tell a Republican that they'll mutter out something about getting a second job or bootstraps. “People keep talking about these “proven facts”. So:
1) why was he not removed from office? 2) why was he not then immediately run out of the country?” The only “proven fact” I know of was that some of his uniparty office staff didn’t like him and filed complaints about him (which were later found to be false) and due to expediency, Paxton came up with a legal way to pay them off and get them out of his office. And he and his wife got a divorce, like that’s never happened before. Posted by: Tom Servo at July 31, 2026 08:43 AM (6YiIr) 192

Yep. Now some Republicans do more openly tie immigration to prices and you can point out the inflation rate dropped as soon as Trump stopped mass migration. Now that didn't drop prices but it did stop the massive increases. And then the other thing Republicans should be doing and talking about is looting the NGOs that got rich off looting the taxpayers. You can promise to do all sorts of things with that money to meet all the leftist election pablum and then actually use it to reduce the debt (and thereby inflation) Posted by: 18-1 at July 31, 2026 08:44 AM (sKqQm) Posted by: Don Black at July 31, 2026 08:44 AM (ZxPkt) 194

Posted by: Heavy Meta ==== You will be the next moron to show up on the leaderboard. It happened to me! Posted by: San Franpsycho I may not be far behind. Found out yesterday afternoon we go back into the office five days a week starting 08-17. I currently drive 486 miles a week. (3 days) Work is having us go into the office five days a week. That's an extra 324 miles for a total of 810 miles a week. $60 a fill up 3x a week = $180 or $360 every two weeks. I don't make enough to cover almost $800 a month for gas. Not counting wear & tear on my truck. And there's no real work in this podunk town. And that doesn't count the physical wear and tear on me by having 15 hour days. This really makes me worried. Posted by: redridinghood at July 31, 2026 08:46 AM (NpAcC) During the primary... Ken Paxton spent $7.49 million in total disbursements for his U.S. Senate campaign as reported to the Federal Election Commission, with $7.41 million categorized as operating expenditures.
Now, the Republican is actually telling you the truth (that nothing will be done about it, you're gonna have to deal with it) but the message isn't nearly as enticing. --- And when a R does offer a solution, it's just a different flavor of the D solution (which is why it doesn't sell): More government Trump is the only R out there arguing for market solutions: Less regulations, less immigration, less inflation, lower taxes, lower fuel costs, etc. All of those are less government. So allegedly the US Military is not permitted by law to recruit sub 85 (or so) IQ individuals—because no level of training will ever make them useful in the military. Which to me, means, that even private industry can't help them. How much training do you need to do each morning to train a person who represents the bottom 10% of the country in intellect to toss fries at McDonalds? They won't waste their time on him. Which goes against the two opposing arguments of "For Every Person There Is A Job" and "Anyone Can Be Trained For Any Position". What does society do with the 10% who will never be able to hold a job? I can tell you what they are doing right now—they're on opiates for depression and pain. Since society has no place for these people, why do we keep importing the tribes that dope heavily in this band? Posted by: Community Notes at July 31, 2026 09:01 AM (a4flb) 262

Reducing the price of insulin and EliPens were actually real initiatives that reduced costs for struggling individuals. These weren't really lowered by "removing regulations", but actually by using the power of the government as the largest purchaser to negotiate a better price. Posted by: Auspex at July 31, 2026 09:01 AM (Y8DZL) I don't believe that Paxton has a lot of money to spread around. For some reason, the big money people aren't giving to his campaign. I'm sure it means he's a terrible person. Posted by: I used to have a different nic at July 31, 2026 09:20 AM (ExV1e) 305
The Democrats may not have much money but what they have should go wholesale into that Texas Talarico race! Spend big, Democrats.

I'm not anywhere near Texas, so I don't really know. But it seems to me that Talarico has a lot of work to to get up to Bootyjudge levels with the black electorate. (That would be 0% approval).

Officer Brian Sicknick — a proud son of New Jersey, a veteran, and a true American hero — gave his life defending our Capitol and our democracy. Today, July 30th is now “Brian Sicknick Day” in our state. May we never forget his courage, his service, and the sacred duty we all share to protect the institutions he died defending. Still waiting for you to remember all of the police killed by BLM protesters: On July 7, 2016, Micah Xavier Johnson ambushed and shot police officers in Dallas, Texas, killing five, injuring nine others, and wounding two civilians. Johnson, a 25-year-old Army Reserve Afghan War veteran, was angry over police shootings of black men. Posted by: Lizzy at July 31, 2026 09:24 AM (X8xt3) 317

We voted for Trump. He is fighting against titanic forces to change that. He has helpers, and the broader mass of the American people. In my own life, I push back against the idiots. I try to subvert their assumptions, sometimes using quotes from Obama or Clinton. Posted by: NaCly Dog at July 31, 2026 08:59 AM (u82oZ) WE here are political junkies. I have been linking this site and associated links in emails to fellow "conservatives" since 2008 or so. Sadly, most of those emails fall on deaf ears. Most pay no attention to the world outside their little bubble. It's frustrating. By and large, the left is driven, 24/7. Our side is not. To most, they pay attention the week before an election. Or don't bother because "I don't like him/her". That's the reality. We here are not the normal voter. Not by a long shot. Posted by: Taggert In Morocco at July 31, 2026 09:24 AM (hmYU4) 318

Yeah, but do people really know the freak that Talarico is?
Most people don't pay attention and see a D by his name and thinks he looks nice. And Gen Z and some of the old boomers, especially the Karens seem to be really motivated to vote this time around. Posted by: redridinghood at July 31, 2026 09:05 AM (NpAcC) I don't know what to tell you. Paxton has laid waste to all who came before him and Talarico has only ever been elected by Austinites. My wife pays as little attention to politics as possible and she's aware of what a freak he is. Is it possible that the Bushie voters will back him in retribution for removing their beloved Cornyn? I guess. I mean they killed Cruz's election which is why we have the unstoppable Beto in office. Posted by: I used to have a different nic at July 31, 2026 09:25 AM (ExV1e) 321
