He also portrayed Napoleon in a cute little comedy "The Emperor's New Clothes". Early 2000's IIRC.

58 I understand this portrait garnered Napoleon's patronage. Not a surprise. It may be the most flattering painting of Nappy: young, powerful, determined. The setting is less important (here it's obscured) than the pose, realistic detail and brilliant color. The deep gold trim contrasts with the 'serious' black of his uniform. It's a powerful image and statement.

A point of interest for me. Look at his eyes. They remind me of the eyes in the portrait by David done almost twenty years later. David shows an older, rounder Napoleon but the eyes are the same.

Bonaparte was supposedly between 5'5" & 5'7".

So anywhere between 3/4 of an inch to 2 & 3/4 of an inch.

All seriousness aside, the painting presents a strong image. The black uniform is *really* black, and the gold at his sash and belt are superbly rendered. His hair -- which makes him look like a '70s or '80s rocker, kind of like Rod Stewart -- is well textured as well.

An Air Canada flight ran out of fuel mid-air right around the time Canada switched from imperial to metric. It happened because the ground crew mixed up metric and imperial units when calculating the amount of fuel needed.

Luckily for everyone there was an abandoned airport on the path of the flight that was used to land the plane safely. The pilot glided a 767 down, with no injuries for anyone on board.That’s some hero shit right there.

Saw "Exit 8" last night on Shudder.

It's billed as one of those "liminal horror" movies so popular with the kids right now, and I suppose it is in a way.

But, really it's more of a psychological puzzle that's an allegory for personal and social responsibility in engaging the real world as opposed to the online/game world and indirectly addresses the falling birthrate in Japan.

*Whew* Pretty heavy lifting for a 95 minute movie, but there are no lecture at all. It all told within the context of the story with almost no dialogue.

This is definitely a "dig my groove" movie. Excellent acting, directing, story but very very slow burning.
If you can catch its vibe, you'll enjoy "Exit 8" a lot.
