The Morning Report — 6/ 18 /26

Vesailles-Feh.jpg

Good morning kids. Well, evidently the deal with Iran has been signed, sealed and delivered, one day ahead of schedule. That said, there are still many many questions yet to be answered. I cannot help but recoil in horror when you consider that the treaty was signed at Versailles . . . where 107 years ago a truly disastrous treaty that instead of ending the War to End All Wars only set the stage for a conflagration that nearly destroyed the world, the reverberations of which we are still feeling to this day. That includes foreign policy decisions and mindsets that allowed the Iranian Mullahs to come to power in the first place as well as sowed the seeds of the West's suicide by mass immigration mostly by Muslims who have not and never will surrender their desire to dominate the globe.

And keep that top of mind as we dig into some of the details of this treaty, because regardless of what the Mullahs have agreed to and or promise, they will never abide by it if it prevents them from conquering humanity. delay or a strategic retreat is one thing. Here they are after 1,500 years of barbarism, so what's two more years of Trump or perhaps 8 more of Vance or whoever, and GOD-forbid it's another Democrat then for sure a Shiite nuke perhaps on top of a Shiite ICBM will be headed our way before long.

Islam neither cares about nor views partisan politics in the same way we do. Yes, as part of or even being modern nation states unto themselves, they do indeed have parties and factions vying for control but in the end, it's Islam that supersedes and dries all political considerations.

And so, back to this deal:

The Trump administration is promoting a new agreement with Iran as a diplomatic breakthrough. White House talking points emphasize Iranian commitments to forgo nuclear weapons, international verification, regional stability and economic incentives tied to compliance. Yet many of the details that have emerged so far raise more questions than answers.
Administration officials point to Iran's reported commitment, in writing, not to pursue nuclear weapons. But Iran has already made that commitment before. The country has been a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty since 1970. The challenge has never been the language on paper; it has been enforcement.
History offers ample reason for skepticism. Supporters of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action similarly argued that inspections and monitoring would prevent Iran from advancing its nuclear ambitions. Critics warned that Tehran would exploit loopholes and conceal activities. Whatever one's view of the JCPOA, the lesson remains: Agreements are only as effective as their enforcement mechanisms.

That is why recent comments from President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance deserve close scrutiny.. . The central problem is that the public is being asked to evaluate a framework that has not yet been fully disclosed. Questions about enrichment, missile programs, terrorism, sanctions relief, inspections and enforcement remain unresolved or insufficiently explained.

And lurker extraordinaire Prof. Victor Davis Hanson has a few thoughts...

The shooting portion of the Iran “War” lasted about 40 days—far shorter than Barack Obama’s 2011 congressionally unauthorized seven-month bombing campaign against Libya.

Bill Clinton’s unauthorized 78 days of bombing Serbia in 1999 hit bridges, schools, hospitals, monuments, and power plants—far more indiscriminate targeting than anything in the Iran War so far.

No one yet knows the ultimate verdict on the war, given all the economic, military, political, and strategic variables still in play. A memorandum of understanding released this week might end the war, or result in further American strikes—depending on the degree of Iranian concessions and compliance.

But in this confusing, ongoing drama, many fabrications and distortions still circulate. . .

. . . Yet there still are no ground troops in Iran. The loss of 13 soldiers, while tragic, is less than the two-week fatal-accident rate of the military.

There is a good chance that less than six weeks of active bombing achieved far more than 20 years in Afghanistan and a decade in Iraq—at a fraction of the human and fiscal costs.

The key to negotiating an end to the war is to always remember that Iran’s regime—its theocrats, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, military leaders, and elected officials—has no history of telling the truth or abiding by any agreement it signs.

So the only means of enforcing concessions is to use disproportionate force each time Iran inevitably violates the terms of the armistice.

While VDH seems cautiously optimistic both in terms of what this means here politically and overall geopolitically, he is nevertheless quite correct in his observations about who is running Iran and their non-existent trustworthiness.

Have a great day,

1 Dan Bongino just had John Solomon on and what he said should have every American paying attention.

He’s predicting Trump is about to drop evidence showing foreign countries interfered in the 2020 election in ways people never fully understood.
And once that hits, it could force o fold on the filibuster and push the Save America Act through.

Solomon didn’t hedge. He said Trump is about to flip the entire conversation in this country and shake Senators who thought they were safe.

According to him, intelligence that was hidden from the public is about to come out, and it points straight at foreign adversaries messing with our election system far more than anyone admitted.
He believes once Senators realize their own states may have been targeted, the tone in Washington will change fast.
His warning was clear.

What’s coming isn’t small. It’s serious, it’s ugly, and it’s going to expose just how vulnerable our elections really were.

17 I think a huge but hidden in the MOU is the admission by Iran that they control Hezbula.
Iirc, it's always been an open secret but a polite fiction to pretend Iran doesn't have an army in Syria to attack Israel.

Anyway, I think there is a significant overlap of those on the right who hate the MOU being the same "we're going to bring Jeffersonian democracy to the middle east"

“The management of the Strait of Hormuz worked well before the conflict. There were no problems. The ships sailed freely. There were no safety problems, no environmental problems, and simply no problems. Therefore, I do not understand why, following the conflict, we should accept some new arrangement that would be imposed on the Strait. To me, that does not make sense. Likewise, Thune and all the others who hate Trump so much they refuse to pass the legislation the people overwhelmingly want, will ignore it. BTW, I don't think they won't pass SAVE because of Trump hatred, although I'm sure they hate him. They won't pass it because they don't care about the people's demands for election security and integrity. No bombshell evidence of infiltration or fraud on any scale will change their minds. And for that, I damn them straight to hell.

30 You can say there were a lot of things we should have, should do in Iran.
But we only need one thing:
The end of their nuclear weapons program.

Everything else was in the "nice to have but not necessary " pile.

The Shah was never going to return. He never had a plan beyond "please Uncle Sam give this to me."
(The same as all the alternatives as well)

You can know this because:
1 he's been invisible since the early days
2 no one from Iran is trying to kill him

There is nothing we can do for Iran.
Excise their nuclear weapons program and let them stew in their mess.

39 Grok says;
The US and Iran have agreed to a 14-point "Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding" (MOU), a preliminary framework to end active hostilities, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, lift the US naval blockade on Iranian ports, and begin a 60-day period for negotiating a more comprehensive final deal (primarily focused on Iran's nuclear program).
--------
There's nothing about changes to how Hormuz is operated. Iran has a responsibility to de-mine the areas they claimed to have mined. At some point marine traffic will operate there as it always has.

All of the items outlined in the MOU are to be fleshed out over the next 2 months. But some, like opening Hormuz, have been explicitly laid out for Iran to get moving on, now.

YMMV

40 To do a true regime change, Iran required a civil war that would kill about 5 to 10% of its population. (Comparing to other states that have gone through overthrows)
No one from outside will ever come in ready or willing to do the slaughter that would be needed.

41 A basic question just occurred to me regarding this Iran deal…. What is its basis in law? On the US side it’s not a treaty (I doubt it’ll go to the senate for ratification) so why do we have to adhere to it? On the international front there’s no resolution adopted and passed by say the UN Security Council (don’t laugh) giving it the weight of international law (again, don’t laugh). Will Iran’s parliament approve it? I doubt it… Will Israel or any other country like Pakistan co-sign?? Any Arab states like Qatar or UAE?

In the end it’s just a few sheets of paper containing the signatures of PDJT and who knows who on the Iranian side. What does that mean purely as a legal question?? I don’t think much….

A lot of hoopla for such a legally feeble instrument…

Good point; that’s why it’s just called a Memorandum of Understanding. It has no strictly “Legal” basis at all, except as a personal commitment from Trump, acting as Chief Executive.

Courts generally have no jurisdiction over foreign affairs; and since it’s not a treaty Congress has no jurisdiction, either. It can be enforced, ignored, or changed only by Trump, and there is no oversight. (Unless you say that the voters are the oversight)

You don’t think that will actually ever happen, do you? An administration official read it aloud yesterday to assorted news groups, including a couple of the Hot Air reps. That’s all we’re ever gonna get.

Btw, it seems worth noting in retrospect that all the claims about “just Iranian propaganda” were part of an administration psy-op to put off criticism. The terms of the MOU have been reported accurately all week.

114 What's to stop Israel or Arab countries from taking down Iran if they start acting up and likely will? Why does the US have to fight every war in the Middle East?

Iran has been militarily neutered. They have no nuclear program and no air defense. I don't care how much money they get from oil sales, they aren't rebuilding decades of military buildup overnight. A lot of people seem to ignore this when analyzing where things stand.

Iran's threat to the US was largely based on their ability to acquire a nuke. That's pretty much gone at the moment. Iran is now a regional threat without much means of winning an actual war against anyone and they've managed to turn the entire region against them.

If we aren't going to be the world's policemen then let's stop being the world's policemen.

150 I have a negative attitude about pickleball…. Years ago we took the kids to a weeklong Christian family camp beside a lake for a vacation. Good preaching every day for the adults and games etc with Bible teaching for the kids.

But one event nearly spoiled the week. The camp organized a pickleball tournament. I didn’t play myself but brother-in-law (also there that week with family) participated and what happened was that all these Christian men playing with their sons got so hyper competitive that arguments and near fisticuffs broke out on the courts… over pickleball… at a Christian camp… sigh. The officials decided to disband the tournament. Ridiculous

We all hoped (including Trump) that US and Israel intervention would open an opportunity for the Iranian people to rise up and take their country back, but we also knew there are many obstacles to that, including being killed by the IRGC.

Realistically, the best we could do is get rid of some bad guys, destroy their nuclear capabilities, and beat back their interference in the Straight of Hormuz, which has been accomplished with a minimum of casualties. They are now much less of a threat to their neighbors, near and far.

I'd say accomplishing realistic positive outcomes is a win, especially with an enemy that will always lie and never surrender.

We elect these people to implement our policy objectives. I don't care in the least even if Trump was just some baby that insults people 24-7. Put on your big boy pants and vote the way your constituents want...and remember even the majority of Democrats want increased vote security.

But...this is just a lie. The people that pay off GOPe Senators don't want the SAVE act and so they have to find a better argument then "I won't get that no show $$$ job after I retire if I vote for the SAVE act"

Posted by: Martini Farmer at June 18, 2026 08:40 AM (jehhT)

When this war began, there was little to no discussion of the raw fact that Iran is the 900 pound gorilla in the Middle East, and Iran’s military is larger than that of all the other middle eastern countries , including Israel, put together. That was the justification of why the US had to step in, because without the US all of the Arab countries have to back off and accept Iran’s hegemony over the region.

Populations:
Saudi Arabia: 35 million , +\-
Israel: 9.5 million
UAE: 11 million
Qatar: 3 million

Iran: 92 million

Iran’s missile and drone forces have been cut down, but the Artesh, the Iranian army outside of the IRGC, was left untouched. I think there was a hope they would rebel, but they proved to be very loyal.

And don’t forget that Iraqi politics are now dominated by Shiite militias who work closely with Iran.

Our military should be used to protect the interests of the American people. Full stop. That doesn't mean there won't be regional conflicts that we get involved with but only to the extent it is in our interests. As long as Iran doesn't try to close the Strait again and doesn't pursue nukes they are not a real threat to the US. They threaten their neighbors to some extent. This is another lie based on Obama's JCPOA that did not constrain Iran at all from pursuing nukes. Which they did. And the deal had a sunset provision and it already would have ended.

It remains to be seen if Iran agrees to a full stop on pursuing nukes with enforceable oversight, that's what the next round of negotiations are designed to do and we can judge those terms when they happen, but these are not the same things.

There are some smoking craters in Iran where their nuke program used to exist that demonstrate the difference.

As new details of Trump’s Iran deal draw harsh criticism from supporters, a foreign policy expert explains how he failed on many fronts—and why this will get worse for him.

They were so interested in proving government doesn't work. They succeeded, but then they found out that the private industry is even worse at the job, and now they have nothing left.

What’s the difference between Iran and Vietnam? Trump knew how to get out of Vietnam.

Fox is just sad their golden ratings calf is crashing-out with no heir-apparent to leech onto.

if the last 20 years are any indication, Fox will go back to being insulted by everything and demonizing whoever doesnt have an R next to thier name. If Obama had done half what Trump did, they would have been up in arms, whole pitchforks and torches, if a black man dared touch any of thier socialist handouts. As long as Dems are upset, they are happy to throw themselves in the woodchipper.

231 Where I live there are sadistic drivers who love nothing more than running over cats and other animals in the street.

The other day I had a squirrel run in front of my car and as I slammed on the brakes he finally noticed there was a car barreling down on him at which point he...froze.

After a second or two he then ran off.

If I wasn't paying attention he would have become a squirrel pancake.

Daveigh Chase, the former child actor who voiced the character of heroic Lilo in 2002’s acclaimed Lilo & Stitch and that same year was named Best Villain by MTV Movies Awards for her effectively creepy portrayal of the evil Samara Morgan in The Ring, died Tuesday of complications from meningitis. She was 35.

Her death was announced to TMZ by her boyfriend Roy Hernandez, who had just this week set up a GoFundMe page for the ailing Chase. Hernandez wrote that recently “Daveigh was diagnosed with meningitis and several serious blood infections. Her condition has become critical, and the doctors have told me she may not have much time left.”

While treating my house as a crime scene, and handcuff me face down while yelling "Quit Resisting" to get the false narrative on their body cams to use that lie against me in court. Fuck that bullshit.

Call the police? Hmm. Decisions, decisions.

305 I mean, we pretty much know the Senators who are the problem, unfortunately, there's not much we can do with some of them.

As usual, the GOP is a useless pile of dog shit.

307 'Morning, all, and thanks, J.J.

There are many Iranian Americans ('Tehrangeles' for example) and whether west or east coasters, it appears there's degrees of skepticism regarding the MOU, especially involving frozen assets and private infrastructure funds ($300 billion).

Reportedly, they fear the capital infusion will entrench the current regime rather than help the Iranian people & they want strict oversight to ensure that funds allocated for rebuilding infrastructure go directly to civilian public utilities, rather than being funneled into the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) or regional proxy groups.

They want international guarantees for open, uncensored digital communication for citizens inside Iran. Also, that any long-term treaty include strict provisions tying economic normalization to human rights improvements, the release of political prisoners, and an end to the suppression of domestic protests.

Reportedly, the Iranian American community views the nuclear issue and regime change not as separate topics, but as deeply interconnected, with a secular democratic

Anyway - NPR, June 18, 2026, The Obama Presidential Center will be dedicated Thursday. Here's what to expect

In part, "Every living president will be in attendance except one: President Trump. During a press preview in early June, longtime Obama White House aide and current CEO of the Obama Foundation Valerie Jarrett said Trump is welcome to visit the museum and they'd love to give him a tour. She said he simply was not invited to the dedication.

"I can tell you that this is a celebration for those who helped get President Obama where he is. And this is a gift to them," Jarrett said. "And so the people who will be here are the people who've been helpful along the way."

The center itself is a more-than-19-acre space on the south side of Chicago that describes itself as a campus and features a towering museum that curators envision influencing change and offering hope. It presents a close look at what life was like in the Obama White House."

A lot of chutzpah there: partying/music, basketball, books, gardening and O, the tower of strength. 🤣

Good day 🤗

Thousands will be assimilated enMasse before they even know what's happened to them. Leaving the building with the false belief that a World Safe For Socialism is pretty k00l, Brennan/Dimon/Epstein were just k00l dudes who just went a little too far failing to realize the there is no compromise between food and poison that results in anything BUT assimilation, ad that Dancin' is (*STILL*) for those who are PATHETIC (as spun by by the Dancin' Brennan undeads tunes).
