Good morning kids. Early doctor's appointment for the wife this morning so off we go...

And as the details of the Iran ceasefire deal continue to dominate the headlines, the good bad and ugly, we have this item of some minor interest, eh?

A complaint from FBI task force officer Christopher Betts alleged that 19-year-old Tycen Proper of Knox County, Ohio, joined a group that wanted to unleash mass terror at the UFC event. The group wanted to target Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and other elected officials they said had compromised themselves by taking money from “pro-Israel PACs,” according to the complaint.
In messages plotting the attack, the FBI alleges that Proper wrote, “I got a possible target Marsha Blackburn is senator for Tennessee” because “she’s taken money from the Israel pro Israel lobby and supports them.”
The suspects planned to use explosive drones to drive a crowd in the direction of snipers, according to investigators.
Betts said that Proper, whom local law enforcement arrested last week, “admitted to planning with others a coordinated attack against the United States government during the UFC event scheduled to take place.”
Other elected officials seen as targets were Senator Jim Justice, Senator Shelley Moore Capito, Rep. Carol Miller, and Rep. Riley Moore — all of whom hail from West Virginia — Betts said a review of a chat planning the attack revealed.

With that I give you this entry, a well-written yet clueless essay, given everything going on in this country that continues to tear us apart even as we approach our 250th birthday.

Principles for a Centrist Realignment: The Grand Alliance: The path to national renewal begins when Americans unite around common sense instead of division, decline, and perpetual crisis.

That's just the headline and subhead which is enough to make my point, but here's a bit more to whet your appetite or make you puke:

First, most Americans don’t want to live in a divided nation, and they don’t want to live in a culture that has devolved to cater to society’s lowest, most abnormal, deviant, hedonistic, psychotic, sociopathic, dishonest, crooked, lazy, defiant, bizarre, militant cohorts of individuals, regardless of the fact they’ve become politically organized and demand equality of outcome in every imaginable context. Most Americans understand the inherent necessity and benefits of nuclear families, hard work, and immutable standards for achievement and recognition.
Second, America’s culture of common sense and unity is threatened by a fractious coalition of fanatics and lunatics who are relatively small in number and who harbor an innate antipathy toward each other that is only held in check by rivers of money flowing to them from globalist billionaires, opportunistic corporations, environmentalist pressure groups, and government unions. Their resources are money and anger. . .

Where to even begin. If any of this were true, then California would not be Zimbabwe on the Pacific instead of what it once was; the world's sixth largest economy and where many once flocked to make their American dream become real. We as a nation and people are more divided than at any time in our history, perhaps even more than 1860. Because as fundamentally serious as the issue of slavery was, we are now divided by the perverse notion that our nation and society as founded is illegitimate and that those who support it and desire its restoration are an evil to be eradicated by any and every means necessary, as the foiled plot against the UFC event at the white House, and every other attack and assassination attempt has demonstrated to all but the blind deaf and dumb.

So, just like the moderates of Islam, where are the so-called "moderates" of the Democrat/Left in the wake of the aforementioned as well as all of the attacks on our values, institutions and even ourselves, be it the President, Laken Riley or the United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, Ashli Babbitt, Roseanne Boyland, and Austin Metcalf whose grave is being urinated upon to the cheering of those we are supposed to make peace with?

Yes, the initial bombardment weakened them a lot and set them back. But… given their worldview, when they survive they’ve won; they’ve slain the great Satan. They don’t want to be a normal country. Any deal, regardless of the details, is something they’ll break and is therefore worthless

Yet again we’ve kicked the can down the road; kicked it farther than before.. but it’s still down the road.

Given this outcome I’d almost prefer he didn’t start the thing and be satisfied with the results of last June’s bombings….

We had been on a trajectory with truly awful potential outcomes, set on course by Obama and ValJar who wanted to make Iran a regional hegemon. They unfroze hundreds of billions to that end. As if that wasn't enough they gave them pallets of cash for walking-around money to spread terror. Biden was their third term continuing this.

Trump got as much as he could without getting us sucked into a quagmire. Iran won't be much of an issue Come November. I say, well played sir.

The fact that the same MOU is not only being published this morning by Bloomberg, but now in major news outlets in almost every Capital City around the world, is a strong sign that this administration is the one who’s “leaked” it in order to prepare for the signing on Friday.

And to repeat, no one in the administration is disputing any specific term in the now published MOU.

Also there’s no reason to believe there are “secret terms” ; Trump himself has said the entire MOU was barely a page and a half long. (Matching what’s being published)

One way to get involved and either advocate for them, or find out details to use in an effort to thwart them is to get on a county commission. A board, like one that rezones property, adjusts property taxes, does impact statements, crunches numbers, etc. Most of the time it's strictly volunteer work. Part time. Maybe an hour or two a month. Plus sitting in the meetings.

A number of locals have done just this. Most are against the proposed center, for a variety of reasons. But what the politicians and developers tell the locals is significantly different from what is documented in the commission's reports to government heads. That by itself is something of an issue. Transparency and all.

If you're passionate about them, go advocate for them. If not, go get involved in the planning processes and ask questions, inform the public, etc.

It costs nothing but time.

So by all means what is the military for?

THIS. Trump has made the best out of a bad situation. I've always said that Trump's plan is to use Election Day as the point after which he can cut the head of the IRGC snake permanently. That deadline is for the IRGC and not Trump. This deal kicks the can down the road, takes Iran off the table as an election issue, comes closer to guarantee he keeps Congress (I'm not worried about that at all), and gives him a look at what the IRGC does to prepare for another conflict. The next time, we take Kharg Island, neutralize their defense of the Strait, and go after them with Trump not needing to answer to anyone domestiically.

For those who doubt Trump, answer me this: when has he EVER made a promise that he didn't keep, or try very hard to keep? Why would you think that Trump, knowing what had been done with Iran over 47 years, would not succeed where predecessors have failed?

First Daughter has been working since she was 17, during the summers. She's had part time jobs ever since. Likes earning her own money and being able to pay for her own things.

My niece, on the other hand, is 3 years older and the only job she's ever had was with a family friend and she didn't do all that well there.

The restrooms. They're amazingly clean. Some places have even installed vacancy lights over the stall doors so you know exactly where to go if you need to sit a spell.

40 years ago, the coffee at truck stops, gas stations and convenience stores was routinely awful. Now it's rare to get a bad cup of joe and that's usually at Starbucks.

I decided to try Shake Shack.

Good burger and good grilled hot dog but insanely overpriced.

Like the ideas of their shakes, Esp. the Dubai Chocolate and Pistachio Shake. But, at 1300 cal, no thanks. Though I might make that a lunch one day.

Anywho, in the end I prefer Whataburger.

Their hamburgers are the same quality or better than SS, and less expensive.

Iran is slightly larger than Alaska. One-sixth the size of the continental US. Many mountains and a large central plateau. There was no scenario where a ground presence of any size would have been anything but ground into paste. It's why I was always hesitant about hostilities and hoped there was someone in-country ready to do the job. There wasn't and here we are.

Unfortunate, because it means the trouble will return at a later date. But who's willing and able to pay the cost to finish it properly?

So that leaves the most unpleasant duty--containment. We can and have prevented Iran from producing a bunch of nukes in short order and their bragging about it in negotiations is why Trump acted when he did. Which was the US focus on Iran, not regime change.
