The Morning Rant: MLB's Hatred Of Traditional America Continues Apace!

punk-monkey.jpg

Hatred of religion is a hallmark of the progressive mindset that has engulfed Major League Baseball. Well, not all religions...just the ones that Americans prefer. Islam is conspicuously absent from the mockery and marginalizing that MLB prefers as its corporate ethos. Remember the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence? Yeah...the vile drag group that revels in insulting Christianity, in part by dressing as outrageous nuns? No hint of them dressing as an imam, or Mohamed? I wonder why! But MLB loves them!

Maybe the marketing wonks in the front offices think that there is a vast untapped market for professional baseball among America's homosexuals. How else does one explain the fixation on all things gay? Or maybe there is an equally vast but closeted contingent of gay players who secretly demand recognition but are too enamored of their endorsements to come out of the closet?

Or maybe Occam's Razor applies here, and MLB and the teams are simply overwhelmingly leftist, and they just love sticking a thumb in the eye of traditional America, no matter that it is traditional America who buys their tickets and jerseys and bobble-heads.

Major League Baseball warns San Francisco Giants players for writing Bible verses on Pride Night hats

Late last week, the San Francisco Giants hosted their "Pride Night," with the team wearing hats with a rainbow-colored Giants logo.

Several Giants pitchers, in a statement of their faith, wrote Bible verse designations on their hats. One, starting pitcher Landen Roupp, addressed his reasoning after the game, saying that the verse is about representing "God's covenant."

Good for them. There was no criticism of the ridiculous "Pride Night" nonsense...they were merely expressing their faith, and for that they deserve respect.

Hilariously and predictably, MLB has lashed out! Never mind that a "Pride Night" is an overtly political statement, and making the players wear those horrid and insulting logos is imposing MLB's political and social stance on the players, making the league's warning explicitly hypocritical.

Per The Athletic, an MLB official has now "warned" those players against violating the rules and writing on their cap.

"The writing on the cap violates our rules, and consistent with normal practice, we have warned the players about future violations," said Pat Courtney, MLB's chief communications officer, in a statement.

That's a lie. Pat Courtney is a liar. "Normal Practice" allows writing on caps unless it seems to attack the sacred cow of MLB... homosexuality. Too bad MLB wasn't equally strict with the amazingly offensive demonstrations with respect to dead fentanyl addict George Floyd! Apparently political stances are perfectly okay if they are in line with the leftist principles embraced by MLB, but beyond the pale when they support Christianity

Baseball is busily taking a national sport that printed money and turning it into a regional sport with a fair number of struggling franchises. If they think that embracing progressive politics that are antithetical to traditional American culture will save baseball's fortunes...they are wrong.

38 The San Francisco paper is going into hysterics over this, of course:

The backlash to the display was fierce, with fans writing on social media that they are disappointed, furious and hurt. At least one Giants fan is trying to organize a protest at the team’s next home game on June 23. Other fans want to push that protest back a day, when Roupp is scheduled to make his next start in San Francisco. More are saying the protest actions have ruined their fandoms, with some even considering giving up their season tickets or ending their support of the team altogether.

...

Ferreira, the Giants fan, feels the players exhibited all of the worst flaws of straight white male privilege in their actions, particularly a lack of compassion and empathy for others.

It's all celebration of the self. They hate the individual because that might be someone else. But they adore their own self.

It goes deeper, like a pretzel or actually an Escher painting. But that's the pathway in. There is no path out of it but God.

115 They're not worshiping a culture or a flag or even a concept. They see their own self on every multicolor flag.

They even give it the correct label. Worshiping pride itself is literally worshiping worship of the self. Hence the insanity of it all. You think self worship is bad? Try worshiping *self-worship* and you will never ever see the trap. Worshiping pride puts a veil over their own self-aggrandizement, and amplifies it at the same time.

God gave us meanings and words for just this reason. It's all there.

They can recite what seems to be never-ending facts about teams and favorite players, and they all want to be just like them when they're grown.

My point, MLB in particular has a lot influence on those kids and while a great majority of them will never be great baseball players, a clean influence of sports - leave out the social justice platforms - can be be invaluable to many, especially those who don't always come from idea family situations, but also the others who simply love the sport.

160 The multi-phase attack allegedly involved using explosive-laden drone aircraft to strike buildings in the vicinity of the event, sparking mass panic and driving the fleeing crowd toward a sniper team poised to pick them off, officials told Fox News.

A “second wave” of attackers then allegedly planned to storm the White House gate, officials said. Fox News further detailed:

The FBI first learned of the threat on June 10 and worked with partners to secure probable cause for an arrest in Cincinnati, where one suspect was taken into custody.

Investigators later uncovered Signal chats in which multiple people allegedly discussed attacking the UFC event. An initial review of one suspect’s iPhone identified at least 23 Signal users discussing pre-operational activity, officials said.

Some of those involved allegedly planned to travel to Fredericksburg, Virginia, on June 12 or 13 to prepare for the attack.

How? In the old days, the guys with short sleeve white shirts and pocket protectors put us on the moon, and invented semiconductors. We benefited from an influx of Euro Joos before and after WWII. Our tech fields are filled with homegrown Asians, Chinese, Korean, Indians, and Japanese. None of those are known for starring on the football field. Elon Musk is a single person, and if we didn't have him, we'd be suffering. Regardless, he's not a sports guy.

There's nothing WRONG with being in traditional sports, but let's not pretend that emphasizing those over the qualities that make our economy go doesn't have a cost in terms of time and effort. Schools can highlight and reward both.

This is 100% on the ump. The rule is defined as "a strike is where the ball crosses the plate" and has NOTHING to do with where the catcher physically catches the ball.

221 San Francisco Reddit:

If you attended Giants Pride Night and felt disrespected, consider filing a complaint/refund request

For anyone else who attended the Giants Pride Night game on Friday and felt hurt, disrespected, or alienated by Giants players using the Pride caps to write Bible verses / make a religious counter-message: you can send a complaint directly to the Giants, MLB, and relevant SF city offices.

Pride Night was marketed as a celebration of LGBTQ fans. Many of us paid to be there expecting to feel welcomed, seen, and celebrated — not to watch uniformed players undermine the meaning of the night on the very Pride gear being used to sell that event.

If you're gonna be small minded you don't need our coin.

Wut? I don't know where you got I'm saying they can't be both. Sure, someone can be good at both, but most aren't. What I'm sayng ing is that we need to treat engineers and scientists as being valuable, just like we do the jocks. I know from first hand experience with my daughters that that is often NOT the case, and it's hurting us. The STEM disciplines are harder than other disciplines, and the financial payoff often isn't great, but they're still indispensable to the country's well-being. We need to let those kids know that what they do will be valued and recognized.

50 years ago, you'd have guys like Ken Kaiser, who never moved a foot unless it was necessary. Fat, out of shape and lazy. Calls were made almost simultaneously with the play instead of waiting a second for it to be completed.

The 1999 umpires strike was a godsend to MLB. They got rid of a lot of poorly-performing umpires and cracked down on conditioning and conduct for the remainder.

Sometimes I wonder what would happen if you took players from 100 years ago and gave them the fields and equipment we have today. Vice versa, what would happen if today's players had the fields and equipment of 100 years ago?

301 Sports was for me an escape. Time was when I would have followed the NBA Finals and would have been pissed at the Spurs losing. Now? I was told the Spurs lost the Finals and shrugged. NBA types running their mouths about politics killed it for me.

Ditto. My uncle fought in WWII and loved his Spurs. He'd be appalled at them now. I was hoping they'd win until I got wind of Wemby's bullsh*t. Now I'm glad they lost.

No. In the NHL, it was voluntary.

In 2023, the NHL entirely banned any theme-night apparel or equipment.

306 The "PLEX" app found on Roku (and maybe elsewhere) has a live streaming feed of KBO, or Korean Baseball Organization. Games are amazingly good. Fan behavior is exemplary. Even the umpires make more correct calls on balls/strikes and plays at the bases. If you love the game, this offers what you need without supporting the dooshbags at MLB.

We can do today's players in golf and tennis.

I like that you can also get 3 or 4 degrees of separation between players.

320 5-10 years ago you could get season tickets for the bananas and their stadium was just a walk down from my house. The season tickets would also include basically all you can eat concessions and a drink allotment. A great deal. But it started getting more and more difficult to get the season tickets before they were all taken. You had to be online and clicking the buy button within seconds. And then they went franchise and that was all over. But in the beginning it was a lot of fun.

I used to work for a tech firm that hosted a lot of marketing seminars that I had to sit through to ensure our product didn't crash. What I learned was that marketers have no idea what/how normal people think. They're the epitome of theorywank.

Specifically: they literally think that "market segments" are isolated, don't talk to each other, and don't see marketing aimed at other demographics. They literally do not comprehend that marketing that increases sales in one demo could decrease sales in another.

327 The bananas were very family oriented then. They had a thing where they would pick a newborn, Every one would put their baby into the running, hundreds of people, but each game they'd pick one and then carry the baby out in a banana costume and unpeel them to the monkey/simba music in lion king. The syndicated show now is becoming sexed up with guys dancing around shirtless and other odd ball mommyporn ways. But in the beginning it was family wholesome.

328 Hatred of religion is a hallmark of the progressive mindset

No. It's a hatred of Christianity. Because Christianity (and Judaism, before it) is against hedonism and transhumanism. Christianity says "You don't get to be your own god, and make your own rules." (Because it's not just Islam missing from their anti-s; it's also most eastern religions, animism, and atheism missing.)
