My apologies, but I’m traveling, so I have no exploding EVs nor rants about Principled Free Traders
today. Not even an upright bass. But here’s a little filler until Ace gets here:

Wisconsin Democrats provided some comic relief with this since-deleted post they put up to celebrate National Dairy Month. What’s hilarious is that while we reality-based people were mocking the Democrats for putting up a picture of bulls, it is 100% consistent with where Democrats stand on issues:

• Democrats are completely oblivious about agriculture.

• Since Democrats believe that cross-dressing men have menstrual cycles and can lactate, it is entirely consistent for Dems to believe that trans-cows (e.g. bulls) can be milked.

My wife and I had a guilty pleasure for several years of watching “Live PD” and its successor “On Patrol Live.” The encounters with “sovereign citizen” were especially entertaining. Sovereign citizens think of themselves as a being a country unto themselves, or something like that, and they expect those they encounter to play along in their make-believe world.

While watching police interact with sovereign citizens, I occasionally made the observation that the entire “they/them” thing is very similar. If someone wants to look in the mirror and believe that he is the sovereign ruler of the Republic of 2914 Birchwood Street, more power to him. Just like a dude can put on women’s clothes, look in the mirror, and pretend there’s a woman staring back at him. But the rest of us don’t have to play along.

71 I’ve been pulled over for speeding more times than I remember. Number of tickets I’ve got lifetime? Only 3.

Why such a low ratio of tickets to warning? Because when I get pulled over it’s nothing but yes officer no officer. Car turns off. Hands on the wheel license insurance and registration ready and handed over immediately. Also no bullshit. No stories about my wife being labor or speedometer broken or I though the limit was 75 not 55 ooopsie. I’m honest and say yeah I was going a little fast, sorry about that.

Cops have to deal with dumbfucks like the sovereign guy all day long. They’ve also heard all the bullshit excuses 100 times. If they encounter someone who gives them no problems, provides no bullshit they will very much appreciate it and more often than not, let you go with a “slow down next time” instead of a ticket.

Cops have to deal with dumbfucks like the sovereign guy all day long. They’ve also heard all the bullshit excuses 100 times. If they encounter someone who gives them no problems, provides no bullshit they will very much appreciate it and more often than not, let you go with a “slow down next time” instead of a ticket.

I was heading to NE Tx one time with the wife as a passenger. Speed limit changed, but I didn't back off cruise control.

Cop asked me what my hurry was, I told him I just didn't hit the brake pedal to back down. I gave him my license and carry permit. He asked me if I was armed and I said yes. "Don't give me a reason to worry about it." "NOPE!"

Then some idiot woman went blowing by us instead of slowing down as required, so he told me to slow down and have a nice day as he took off after her.

Nah, speaking as a UofC grad, the University of Chicago has a very large and aggressive police force that patrols the neighborhood (along with the usual Chicago cops), and keeps the neighborhood relatively safe.

During George Floyd, a lot of students called for abolishing the UofC police department - which I'm sure confused every alum, who knows perfectly well that the university wouldn't exist without the UofC police department.

Not sure what road improvements are being done. The roads in the area don't seem to have changed much. Now it is right by the Museum of Science and Industry and some south shore beaches. But the locals were pissed off it took up park land close to the lake. It is also a part of the gentrification of the area. The riff raff are being pushed south and west. U of C has security patrols all around the area to the west of Obama's hideous building.

So. I have a story. In the before times, my folks took my sister and I to the Dakotas. We did the tourist stuff in the Badlands, Mt. Rushmore, Little Bighorn, et al.

Whilst at the Little Bighorn, we saw this enormous, anatomically correct bison statue. Friggin huge, it was. Entire families standing under it. I was about 14, my sister was about 9. She stood directly under the Bison Balls, pointed, and asked 'What is that?'

My mother, prim, proper, sensitive to the judgement of others, didn't respond. To my sister, this failure could only be explained by the idea that perhaps mom didn't hear. So she tried again. Slower. At full volume. "MOM! WHAT! IS! THAT!"

It's a trick question either way. You just say "yes," you're admitting guilt to speeding. If you say "no," you are admitting guilt as to speeding because going fast is built into the question and you just accepted it as a given. It's also a possible admission to distracted driving or some other analog because you just admitted you weren't paying attention to your speed. Sponge has the correct answer - exercise your right to remain silent. The only exception might be if you have hard evidence that you did not commit the infraction - such as a GPS equipped dash/rear camera that also tracks your speed - but if you tip your hand they might fabricate some other infraction just so they "win."

The problem with recency bias is that everything is judged from a personal experience, which may not be sufficient to understand what all is actually going on. I won't go into the intricacies of humiliation those mistresses would have brought to Eleanor in her social class, however that sort of act would fit her entitled and rather bloody minded attitude against the world.

I don't like socialites and their upper class families because of what they deem appropriate for them to get away with. Think of them as sovereign citizens with actual support from the cops and the government and money to get a lawyer to argue that they should get off for it.

He was down the coast and was suing the federal government in Monterey I think. She laughs and asks if they're done. The cop double and triples down after she just proved he could not possibly have seen what he claims to have seen. She had to take it to court where they dropped the charges minutes before the hearing.

311 There is road construction on a highway I take often to get into town. The barrels and lowered speed limit signs are always there, whether there is a crew working or not. I generally slow down whether I see anybody at work or not. If I do, I always get tailgated. You often get tailgated if you proceed at the regular speed anywhere on that highway. I like to imagine they have a medical emergency and have to speed, but they probably don’t. C’est la vie.
