The Morning Rant: Will Europe Grow Up?

punk-monkey.jpg

One of the more corrosive aspects of American foreign policy with respect to NATO and Europe has been the infantilization of Western Europe. After World War II they quickly became militarily subservient to America, which, while understandable, created the conditions necessary for their massive welfare states and an equally massive shift toward cultural passivity. No longer did they see themselves as defenders of their countries and their lives...that was America's job, while they enjoyed six weeks of vacation and cradle-to-grave social services. Never mind that their medical care was awful, and their standard of living lagged far behind America's...everything was being done for them, including protecting them from the consequences of their passivity...the loss of martial spirit, patriotism, love of native culture, etc.

The results are clear! Europe is being subsumed under a tidal wave of third world immigration, led by the revolutionary political philosophy of Islam, that without some cataclysmic change will soon rule the UK, France, Belgium, and perhaps others.

Regardless of America's previous domination of European defense, it is high time that their cultures mend themselves and take responsibility for their military failings. It is axiomatic that a country that cannot defend itself cannot long survive, even in our post-modern malaise. The hordes crashing Europe's borders care not a whit about self-actualization and pronouns and transsexualism and gay marriage and policing free speech. They care about conquest, and they will succeed!

ECFR Poll: European Trust in US Defense Commitment Plunges

Europeans are increasingly questioning whether the United States would come to their defense in a military crisis, according to a new survey showing confidence in America's security commitment has fallen to record lows.

The poll, released Wednesday by the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), found that only 11% of respondents across 15 European countries now view the United States as an ally "sharing our interests and values," down from 22% in November 2024.

Researchers said the findings reflect "deep European distrust in the U.S." ahead of upcoming G7 and NATO summits.

While most Europeans still see America as a "necessary partner," majorities in every country surveyed said they no longer believe the U.S. would necessarily come to their aid if they were attacked.

This is magnificent news! It is the first step for Europe moving out of America's basement and finding its own place in the world! The real question is whether the existential ennui that infects most of Western Europe can be banished as they see the consequences of their subservience to American power.

Will France regain the martial spirit of de Gaulle? In 1966, he demanded that all American troops must leave France, and France left NATO's integrated command structure, leaving it as a free agent. Good or bad...it was national self-determination, and it stiffened the backbones of the French.

Will The United Kingdom regain the cold resolve of Margaret Thatcher, who dispatched the Royal Navy 8,000 miles to defend the Falklands? That was the last gasp of patriotism in the UK!

Will Germany return to the Germany of the 1980s; with a superb armed forces that knew it was first to do battle with the Soviet juggernaut, and was determined to succeed?

Time will tell, and the smart money is against all of that, but rejecting American dominance and accepting that they are all independent countries is a good start.

61 The United States has zero business pursuing alliances with Europeans. This is the 21st century, ferpetessakes. They ceased being a military force almost a century ago. They ceased being a cultural force 50 years ago. We are living through the time when they are permanently winding down their economic power, and soon they won't even be Europeans anymore, but Arabs.

In no world does it make sense to waste time, effort or money on these useless eaters, and there is huge downside potential to it... you might as well say "I was thinking about eating this shit sandwich. I mean, sure, it tastes like shit, but at least it could make me extremely ill."

We need to wind down our military commitments, withdraw our nuclear weapons and demand, menacingly if necessary, their own denuclearization. From there, we need to seek to diplomatically and economically isolate these nascent Arab States.

Seriously, in that situation, use your phone only for absolutely uncontroversial purposes, doctor appointments, routine business, etc. No chit-chat at all. Disable all the cameras on your phone. 83 I think it's entirely possible that there is too much grift and fraud in European public budgets for them to be capable of defending themselves, until their existing Ruling Class is removed from power, root and branch. And that might not be possible either. What if the replacement clique would just immediately go about duplicating the lazy beak-wetting of their predecessors?

That could happen if it's engrained in their culture now. Their whole nations could simply be too corrupt muster resistance to an invasion of lightly-armed barbarians, let alone field a First World military.

And if that sounds far-fetched, I refer you to California's bespoke, artisanal cougar/butterfly bridge, that crossed the $100M mark and still wasn't done, when other states provide the same function for $15M. That gives us a baseline floor of at least 85% of their budget being grift, fraud, and waste. And Europe's public administrator cultures are much older and more entrenched.

They could be even *worse* than California. It sounds like fiction, but I am dead serious when I say that the same countries that made whole continents burn not 80 years ago, could now be incapable of stopping a rubber boat.

The "good times create weak men, weak men create hard times" cycle has allowed the complete inversion of Maslow's hierarchy, and much of the "elite" west has so little concern with being fed, sheltered, and warm that they have been able to create that vast shrill needy medicated cesspit of self-actualization in which we have all been stewing.

When it's in the Faraday bag, it cannot receive a call. On order for cellphones to work at all, they have to ping and be pinged by cell towers on an ongoing basis. So your location can be known by the authorities. But if you can prevent the phone from scooping up images and audio of your daily life, and conversations with other people in meatspace, you have some degree of protection.

So no, the demonic leftist death cult has no intention of defending anyone, let alone women or girls.

Lizzy, there are a lot of things one can do to protect your privacy online, EFF has some suggestions. But in reality, all governments, including even places like East Germany, run into the reality you cannot arrest all of your citizens--sooner or later they are going to do what they are going to do and the only thing you can do is tamp it down a bit.

I think what we are seeing is effectively the death of Labor and the globo homo regime in Westminster. Sweden, which used to be ground central for globo homo, has shut the doors on refugees as have the Danes. Eastern Europe is not going along with the EU, Greeks are using the new EU law to kick out refugees to Africa etc. before they are processed.

Starmer and his ilk's time has run out. Same with the Tory do nothings and when it comes out that the Sudanese head hunter was granted asylum by Sunak's policy along with Reform UK Braverman who was Tory Home Sec at the time, etc.,

Restore becomes the default option.

And praise God we did. It was this "city on a hill" that allowed men to see what was possible through Biblical principles.

And we gradually lifted our ceiling on what could be brought into our lives.

Tribalism is a *huge* factor against this.

But the thing is that at the same time that we have had the stopwatch ticking on Africa to develop, we've had another whole portion of our culture telling them and everybody else that if you disparage their culture of tribalism, that is it's own form of tribalism.

And during that time of course, "globalists" became neo-tribalists or meta-tribalists. Their tribe became "globalists", such that being not-as-global became sin.

Because they waged wars in the flesh, because other people with other ideas became a hindrance to Man's enterprise of Globalism.

Posted by: Jukin the Deplorable and Totally Unserious

Not really, even in the UK it is about 6-7 percent. Right now, what we are seeing and why the resistance is that these invaders were concentrated in major dying UK cities like inner London, Manchester, Liverpool, etc. but are now being distributed around the country. Much as happened during the Biden administration where they dumped illegals in small towns, etc.

The native populations are now realizing that their government intentionally means to harm and replace them and there is nowhere to run away to anymore. This concentrates the mind when the insulation from bad government choices is stripped away and why I think you will see far more burning out the illegals as the tactical choice in Ireland, UK, Netherlands, and Germany. In France and Belgium, it is perhaps too late for anything other than military action to expel the invaders as they have literally taken over many urban districts and cleansed them of whites as no go areas.

The 56th edition brought together (Jan. 2026) approximately 2,500 to 3,000 global leaders, including nearly 65 heads of state and government, as well as top corporate executives, civil society voices, and academics.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte strongly defended the relevance of the trans-Atlantic alliance. He pressured European nations to rapidly increase defense investments, scale drone manufacturing, and integrate AI into military operations.

(There were also panels about Greenland 'friction' & calls for greater regional economic sovereignty in Europe.)

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy delivered a blunt special address questioning NATO’s readiness to respond to raw aggression. He advocated for a unified European "coalition of action" & an integrated European military force. He noted plainly that "no security guarantees work without the US."

Zelensky announced a foundational deal regarding post-war security guarantees had been reached, setting the stage for trilateral peace talks in the UAE.

A long time ago, in the early 2000's, I worked with big databases and before that smaller ones that tied to bigger units. The major problem with interconnected data is ratty/bad data that reduces the certainty of any summary report. So an individual can easily introduce ratty data into their own dossier by a number of tactics--pay cash for things every now and then, take your phone at times, don't take it at times, sign up for the favored customer crap but don't use it all the time and use different variations of your name and addresses. Particularly abbreviations so the OCR/data gets messed up. Spell out dRIVE instead of DR and so on--use the general zip instead of the zip plus four, get a commercial service to delete your name from every bit of databrokers you can afford, etc.

Make your data ratty.

Will France regain the martial spirit of de Gaulle? In 1966, he demanded that all American troops must leave France, and France left NATO's integrated command structure, leaving it as a free agent. Good or bad...it was national self-determination, and it stiffened the backbones of the French.

It's not as much about De Gaulle wanting to turn France into a free agent, it was more like, De Gaulle could read a map. If the Sovs came west, they'd have to go through West Germany and the other NATO powers before they ended up on the French border. So France would be defended from the Sovs no matter what, and the Frogs leaving the NATO military structure saved them money and allowed them to continue trying to rebuild their overseas empire. And as they'd never left the NATO political structure, they had a say in how NATO was run, without concrete military obligations.

Best of both worlds.

Posted by: Ian S.

I think when it comes time to actually agreeing, that Hungary will start giving excuses. That PM was formerly a member of Orban's party and has not done much on globo homo as expected.

The tide is going out and the desperation that the left and their uniparty right is exhibiting by trying to ban, revote, etc. destroys the very legitimacy of these governments to actually rule.

They don't actually have the coercive forces that the old Russian/Eastern Bloc has--it is mainly threatening and browbeating with occasional people being made examples of.

So like a person confronting a bear without a firearm, they try to puff themselves up to be as big as they can appear to scare the bear away. If the bear is hungry or mad enough, that doesn't work.

Soft authoritarianism is in many ways, the weakest when push comes to shove because no one believes in the ruling regime anymore--they just go through the motions from stasis.

Posted by: polynikes
====
Most people skip to the Treaty of Versailles without regarding what happened after the Franco Prussian war. Essentially Germany got the same reparations terms that France did after losing that war and since WWI was mostly fought on French soil, France in WWI was far more devastated.

In comparison with the whinging Germans after WWI, the French paid off a truly massive reparations bill (which coincidentally aided Germans in building a massive military), early in a couple of years. Damn near broke the country and caused worldwide panics due to its affect on currency markets. And the Germans took for spite, Bismarck disagreed with it incidentally, Alsace and Lorraine from France and promptly sought to ethnically cleanse it.

Germans complain way too much about Versailles and like most bullies, ignore what they did before WWI--the main reason WWII happened is that the Allies blinked when they could have stuffed Shitler right when his meager troops crossed into the Rhineland at little cost.

The 11% are the lazy mohammedans that aren't willing to engage in crime to get their hands on machine guns, they're expecting governments to provide them.

Only about 1-2% will actually be accurate with them though. The other 9-10% will spray-and-pray from the hip, no matter how much you train them. From what I've read, that was a constant complaint of US troops working with the Iraqis or Afghans. They'd eventually start shooting accurate, aimed fire at the range with a lot of training, but as soon as they were out in the field? Mag dumps from the hip.

The war has been a strategic disaster for Russia as the meager tactical gains have not been worth the destruction and cost of the war. He was too arrogant, like the Germans in WWI, to figure out that his military could not match his bravado.

Reminds me of the pointless Iran-Iraq war in the 80's--both sides lost . Ukraine could never 'win' against Russia but won in a strategic sense by simply surviving. Russia possibly could have 'won' but its decapitation strike failed . Since then it has become a war of attrition and Ukraine, being the weaker party, has become adept and more nimble in leveraging tech than Russia has to replace lost manpower. So stalemate essentially on the battleground while Russia became a pariah internationally forcing NATO expansion.

And the French resented the Germans taking their land and ethnically cleansing French, the Belgians resented their neutral country being invaded in violation of a treaty which Germany declared it would never do. Basically, the Germans fucked around and found out. I have no sympathy whatsoever for the Germans in WWI. They precipitated the crisis and documents captured post War indicate clearly that Germany was intent on invading France--the earlier Moroccan crises just about lit off the war early. But the whole Von Schiefflen plan rested on invading neutral countries and destroying France before pivoting toward the Russians to destroy their armies.

I have no sympathy for Germans either in WWI or WWII for their deaths and sufferings--they brought it upon themselves. Just like France did with Napoleon and before with the endless wars over religion. Being stupid trying to gain territory/resources/reparations by violence using total war became strategically stupid when mass armies were created.

280 Otherwise, blood and soil seem to be more stable systems. Empires of unrelated cultures and peoples always fail over time.

Because they're being normal, not pursuing some closer alignment to abstract ideology, and breaking their people to fit into a mold.

That is always going to work better. But that doesn't mean that mixing can't work. Just the ideology of mixing could very well be artificial.
