Bullfighting amateur

As usual with CBD's selections, the painting is dull and monotonous, hardly worth commenting on.

60 Bullfighting amateur

There's a fascinating story from 1907 (I think) about some American rancher who loved American Bison/Buffalo and had a hairbrained money-making scheme to take some to Mexico to fight bulls. He did it, and the fights were apparently a mix of extreme passivity mixed with moments of incredible brutality. One of the buffalo may have even made its way to Spain due to its success in Mexico!

Long (30 minute) video on the subject. A good listen while working on another project. https://tinyurl.com/msmbu7dy

I had the privilege of attending in Lisbon in 2006. It was a cultural thing. I didn’t particularly care for the brutality, but watching the pagentry and the people and hearing the music and the chanting of the crowd….. smelling the foods and the flowers… getting the vibe of the rhythm of a particular moment…..

It was culturally enriching. And I don’t mean that on the progressive bullshit way. I mean it gave me a glimpse into something very foreign, and somewhat horrifying.

I would go again if I went with someone who could translate not just the verbal language but the body language, the dancing, the costumes….. all of it to me. I’d like to understand the significance of the details.

120 Nasdaq close to record territory again. Remember way back last week when we had the 2% “crash”?

It’s crazy how this cycle repeats every few months. Market slowly inches up 5-10%. Then has a 2-3% pullback. Everyone freaks out that it’s all crashing down, forgetting about the 5-10% increase and freaking out over the 2% decrease.

The a week later all that loss is made up and starts the cycle again.

I’m fascinated by how people have no ability to observe patterns and simply react to events independent of historical context.

Which is a fantastic outcome for us.
Go look at the distribution map of blacks in the US.
All the heavily black areas that are not cities, are in the South.

The northern blue states do not have enough blacks outside of their major cites to both 1) keep all their minority-majority districts and 2) keep safe white districts.

Because when they lose those 3-5 seats in the Census, they're going to protect the safe white seats 1st.
