Kamala Harris: I'm Not Running for California Governor, I'll Be Keeping My Options Open for Any Other Ways I Can Serve the People In the Future (Like in 2028, Maybe)

Fox News
@FoxNews

Former Vice President @KamalaHarris
announces that she will NOT run for governor of California: "For now, my leadership and public service will not be in elected office."

For now.

File this under Least Surprising Headlines of the Day. Democrats have been "bemoaning" her threat to run for governor.

"She Comes In With Baggage': California Dems Bemoan Potential Harris Gubernatorial Bid

Former VP 'would only fire up Republicans and hurt' Democrats, a California House Democrat says

Matthew Xiao
July 28, 2025

As Kamala Harris weighs a run for California governor in 2026, state Democrats are expressing their fears that the former vice president "comes in with baggage" that could hurt the party down-ballot and energize Republicans.

"There's no groundswell for [Harris's] candidacy," one California House Democrat told CNN on condition of anonymity. "In fact, I think it would only fire up Republicans and hurt our ability to win the four to five seats that we need to win the House and hold on to three seats that we just flipped in 2024."

"She comes in with baggage," the Democrat said.

Other California Democrats expressed frustration that Harris appears more focused on staging a 2028 presidential bid than on leading California. "Once you're the vice president of the United States, there's only one place to go--it's president," Rep. Jimmy Gomez (D., Calif) told CNN. "For me, if I was vice president and all of a sudden I lose, it would be a fallback to me. I hate to put it so bluntly."

Some major Democratic donors and interest group leaders, meanwhile, are insisting that Harris still needs to answer for her failed presidential bid last year, according to CNN. Harris took over the Democratic nomination from then-president Joe Biden and went on to lose to Donald Trump, failing to carry a single swing state.

...

This isn't the first time that California Democrats have publicly aired doubts about Harris, who said that she will make up her mind about a gubernatorial bid by late summer.

"Kamala just reminds you we are in this complete shit storm," a California Democrat who contributed six figures to her presidential bid told Politico last month, noting that another Harris candidacy would only remind Democratic voters of the "traumatizing" 2024 election.

California Democrats faulted her for treating the office of governor of the seventh biggest economy in the world as a Safety School.

From her previous statements, I previously concluded that she is trying to interest donors into setting her up in "charity" grift in which she will be paid a salary, given luxury offices, have travel and hotel paid for worldwide tours, and have a 24-hour-per-day professional chauffeur service. She doesn't really want any office where she'd be expected to actually perform or make decisions.

You know-- the exact same grift they set up for Hillary Clinton and her mutant Deep One spawn Chelsea.

But Kamala is willing to threaten runs for governor and the presidency (again) to get Democrat mega-donors to pay her to go away. They will have to open up their checkbooks is they want to focus on (right hand up and to the front) What Can Be (left hand down and to the back) Unburdened By What Has Been.

One of the most insane verdicts ever in the Netherlands was delivered today.

Arnold O. murdered his ‘girlfriend’ — a young mother — because she focused too much on caring for her newborn and too little on him.

He stabbed her 258 (!) times and filmed the mother as she lay bleeding to death. Afterwards he took selfies with the newborn in its mothers blood.

The Public Prosecutor only demanded 10 years in jail for this extremely gruesome murder, but the judge halved it to only 5 years in jail because Arnold O. has “limited cognitive capabilities”, a politically correct way of saying he has a very low IQ.

Our regime is not only allowing these monsters in, it’s also allowing them to commit the most horrible acts of violence.

Agreed. She could win primaries only to lose again with people who won't vote for a woman. I want a woman to win but afraid the country at large isn't ready yet.

I think there’s a misconception among many that she would have been a shoe-in. Losing the nomination would be pretty humiliating especially having served already as a senator and VP. It would have echoed Nixon’s failed run in 1962.

As a Californian, I can 100% guarantee that Kamala would have won the Governorship. She was an outstanding state Attorney General. She did so much heavy lifting during the Great Recession and ensuing foreclosure crisis. People here have not forgotten.

I've been supporting Katie Porter all along and this move by Kamala Harris just opens up a better prospect for Katie.

I think it's more like they have standards for radioactive anything. All the historic DOE nuclear sites are required to test animal scat, pools of water, dead animals, etc. for radioactivity levels. There was a site a few decades ago that had radioactive fruit flies. They then try to trace to the origin of the radioactivity. For the wasps, if they were using mud, that probably means that they were collecting it from a wet area that was seeping radioactive waste.

I think he would get blitzed by the usual suspects, but I think the Prez. would actually make a few trips to California to campaign on his behalf, which would be entertaining and interesting all by itself.

Trump trusts Grenell or he wouldn't have put him in the positions he has. Grenell, for his part, seems to value the relationship with Trump...going so far as to discuss his aspirations on being California gov. with him personally.

Grenell, should he win, would get steamrolled by the legislature at every turn, but he's no shrinking violet. So, that would be fun too. SOOOooooo Let's go Ric!!!!
